Noel Tidybeard Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Another P6 parts bin raid - Clutch Slave same as Mini (not Bini)so lets get this straight- a car from '63 donated its parts to a car from 4 years earlier?! lol
drum Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 And didn't RR buy the license to re-manufacture, so it's not the same parts. Am I right in this?Yes, but let's not let the facts get in the way! A friend with a TVR 350 says it's all ford underneath. Brakes, suspension etc. I think he said cortina?
mercrocker Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 so lets get this straight- a car from '63 donated its parts to a car from 4 years earlier?! lolYou knows wot I meen! Actually my Mini slave did come from a P6 parts bin - my mate worked at a Rover dealer!
mercrocker Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Here's another from my time in the Mk3 Zodiac club - I supplied a dash-top demist vent to a Ford GT40 owner. Same part.
John F Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Maserati Biturbo 2.8 18v models have the same rear brake calipers as E28 BMW, the same front fog lights as a Lancia Thema, the same fuse box as a Fiat Strada, etc. etc.
Junkman Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 You knows wot I meen! Actually my Mini slave did come from a P6 parts bin - my mate worked at a Rover dealer! It's actually a quite generic Lucas Girling part used in a plethora of cars as clutch and/or brake cylinder.A more tabloid press example would be the Maserati Sebring. On a different note, the Lamborghini Espada has the same track rod ends and ball joints as the Sunbeam Alpine.
Christine Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 UR quatro lower balljoints are not the same as anyfink and you cant get them , thats why owners keep the mileage down , or so i was told !
Junkman Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 As I know you all love pictures here are a few stolen from the internet. The AC Cobraimages.jpgShares it's rear lights with the Jensen 5415132002063_dab8c7427f.jpgWho got them from the Hillman minx.fs_hillman_1953_1954_minx_saloon_phase_vii_003.jpgUnfortunatly all the kit car cobra's come with round lights so the fakers will pay top money for them now According to the information I had available for the past 30 odd years, Shelby American built Cobras used the generic Lucas L542 taillights. unless they were built to FIA standard, where these were illegal for racing, due to the FIA requiring cars to have orange indicators. That's why cars built to FIA standard were fitted with the generic round Lucas lights, which were available in red and orange.Well, Cobras so equipped shared them with the Land Rover, among many others, to stay with the spirit of this thread. As I said, this is the info I had available all this time. Maybe it's wrong.Pitty if it was, since this would mean I'm responsible for two incorrectly restored Cobras.
doobietoo Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 the MGF used two metro subframes one at the front and one at the back.... and 51 renner clio front calipers bolt to Austin 1100 hubs with a bit of relieving and metro turbo vented discs as long as you use metro bolts as they stil use 31/4 inch spacing...
Felly Magic Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Skoda Favorit/Felicias without ABS use Ford Sierra brake pads
chaseracer Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 According to the information I had available for the past 30 odd years, Shelby American built Cobras used the generic Lucas L542 taillights. Apparently so: http://www.s-v-c.co.uk/product/ac-ace-light-kit/
vulgalour Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I thought the rear lights on the Lotus Europa were from the Alfa Romeo GTV, but they're not. Are they unique to the Europa or have Lots done their usual and nicked them from someone else?
martc Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Vauxhalls share a lot of parts with Opel. But apparently they are shite and Opels are German. Discuss. saucedoctor, cms206, HH-R and 1 other 4
RoadworkUK Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Noge Catalan with egregious application of MK1 Punto taillights
AldridgePrior Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I had a Freelander that had Montego bits.I remember being `delighted` about that.
AldridgePrior Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Test drove an 2002 X type Jaguar 2.2 diseasel and it had a Mondeo handbrake set up. Not from a 2002 Mondeo, the fucking earlier one. The car was a sack of shit to be frank. cobblers 1
Parcgwyn Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Scimitar and Aston Martin DBS used Hillman Hunter saloon rear lights.
willswitchengage Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I think that all cars share exactly the same parts as all other cars if you believe the eurocarparts online ordering system overrun, Vince70, warren t claim and 9 others 12
TRW Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 + = Plus the Kia Sedona had the KV6 in it HERITAGE. cms206 1
dangerousdave Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 lets see range rover classic door handles = marina/allegro stalks early ones = mini/mk1 escort later ones most other Austin rover cars engine = most other big engine rovers and tvr interior handles = montego maestro and many other shares

chaseracer Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 ^^^ No, you're mistaken. That was the Toyota Space Hopper. Sorry... Cruiser.
Taff Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I had a '66 Vauxhall Viscount (last year before Vauxhalls became shit, phact) and the front brake pads were the same as a L/R defender. 1949 Chevy shared a choke cable with a 1976 Marina (well, it fitted anyway)
Taff Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 do 5&1/2" round headlights count? Scirocco, BMW, Capri, Galaxie etc
hazzalandy Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Pre 1985 Land Rover propshaft universal joints are the same as on a nissan serena! ( so possibly the same as a vanette and an LDV cub, but not putting money on that)
sheffcortinacentre Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I beleave the same diff assembly was used in the mk1 consul/zephyr range through to the last swb transit smiley?
pshome Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 1958 Simca Vedette and 1997 Landrover Defender propshaft U-joints are the same.
