Cars you didn't know existed until very recently.

Likewise, the 2006-2009 Honda Odyssey.  I don't know why we don't get some stuff over here.

I was behind a Nissan Pixo this morning.  Never heard of it, never knowingly seen one before.   On a 10-plate, so they've passed me by for some years.  Vauxhall Agila sized.  Bland beyond words.

I can't be arsed to Google a picture of one, so have this to give you the same impression:

....it was like that, but with a Nissan badge and in pale blue.

The Pixo was a rebadged Suzuki Alto, Suzuki always seem to build other people's shite small cars. (Agila, Subaru Justy etc)

Pixos were introduced to give UK dealers something smaller and cheaper than the frog-face Micra K12 to sell. Most were sold during the scrappage scheme to giffer's trading-in their L reg Micras.

They are a tad pointless now that the Micra is now also a boggo basic dull cheap thing, the current model is sourced from Thailand I think.

Fair enough, ta.  So basically what you're saying is, I should have planted a homing beacon on it because in 15 years' time we'll all want one :-D

I may have seen thousands of them Pixars or whatever but will never have known.

I know I am getting old as I can't tell one modern car from the next in the same way that that my old man could not tell the difference between Def Leppard and New Kids on the Block in the early 90's.

The Ford Territory, as seen in Australia (possibly New Zealand, too - I don't know).  I'd thought it was a rehash of the Ford Explorer, but since seeing them when I was in Oz in 2012, I've learned they're actually developed from the Ford Falcon BA.  Definitive proof: a 2WD Explorer is FWD while a 2WD Territory is RWD.

They're not sold over here, which I think is a shame as I quite like the look of them, and don't object to the jacked-up-estate-car type of vehicle.  I'd happily buy a second hand one when I'm next looking for an estate car.

I always liked the Territory, helped delay Ford Australia's large car sales decline for a while there.

Turns out there is now a diesel, the old 2.7L Land Rover engine so strange that there is no UK import.  Maybe marketing research showed too much badge snobbery?  Plus te strengt of te Australian Dollar in the last few years and an old design now as well, if they had made a diesel in 2008 it might have made sense.

They made a few FPV versions that were fairly quick.

i belive that the nissan pixar and the current nissan micra are both build(?) in Pune, India.

and they are both crushingley cheap and dull.

This is the newer version of the Territory which is based on the BF Falcon and has been out since about 2011 I think. To my eyes it looks quite good compared to most other larger 4x4s and I think if it was sold in the UK it would have some market share. Not that it's ever going to happen as with the Falcon and the Holden Commodore and Cruze, this is going to disappear in 2017 when Ford and GM end all Australian car production. This is really rather sad as the Falcon and Commodore especially still look like superb big, quick RWD saloons for the every man, the likes of which no other mainstream manufacturer still makes.

^ sad that Ford and Holden are ending domestic Australian cars.  I'd quite like one of those Territories, once they've done some depreciating.

Looks a damn site better than the Fjord EmuSpunk that they do sell in the UK. Why anyone buys this is beyond me:

Saw one of these in London at the weekend, on an 02 plate.

I came across this dumpy little saloon today. I had no idea what it was other than it was a Proton, turns out it was a Proton S16 - otherwise known as the Proton Saga in Malaysia. Supposedly this is the best selling Proton in Australia, but I've never seen one before so fuck knows who they were selling them to as I've seen plenty of Savvys, Impians, Gen2s, Satria Neos and Preves.

The Caterham 21. Less than 50 built, and best of all, it looks like a V8, right?

It's got KETTLE POWAH!

Complete with Mk1 Mondeo rear lights, too.

I LOVE the 21. It's goose was cooked by the Elise coming out around the same time, sadly.

They must be fairly well screwed together those 21s. Vaguely know a chap who drove his off a mountain pass hairpin in Italy was around a 10ft drop I believe, nothing significant damaged and he drove it all the way back to the Uk :D

I sat in a 21 at the NEC when they were first launched.  I remember being impressed by how well screwed together it seemed, and the superb driving position.  Not the easiest thing to get in and out of though...

They're new-ish, built in Thailand. Was hampered on its original launch by brake failure issues, but they seem to be OK now as Suzuki are advertising them in shopping centres etc. They look quite nice, but why name it after celery and Cheerios?
