Re: the Cadillac, I think that custom builders often put the Escalade front end on various things to make them look 'classy'.   The current Obama mobile has a Cadillac front end.

as it shot up behind me, on the A69, I thought Maser... after a 'chopsokkie' wizz bang of a pass [not many chances on the A69] I stared at the arse for 20Mins.....

 

Hmmm..... I thought, I see the 'E Type' legacy in the haunches and roof tailing, but the slab bumper (AKA NissanGTR) was a bit... well, flat!

 

 

I think 'suggested' chromework (like the E Type bumper corners) would have made it a bit more distinctive.......

That was why I was surprised to see what looked like a new Maybach on a transporter presumably going to Mercedes UK HQ, this morning.

I had a Cadillac STS a few years back.  It was a lovely thing in its own way, although the build quality was quite comical in places and it didn't really go round corners.  Never had any problems with the Northstar V8 either - gearbox was shit though.

That's superb. They definitely did 4x4 Partners and Berlingos, so a 4x4 ZX, 306, or Xsara could be doable if you are mental enough.

I'm looking for my next work car to replace the super reliable* bulletproof* 530d, when I get it back from its routine ca chain replacement ( with added head,cams,valves etc) . I fancy a change from reliable,unbreakable German diesels so I searched Autotrader for petrols over 3.0 litres , under 6 years old and up to £8,000.

Amongst the usual Tuetons were some real gems; Nissan Murano, Honda Legend, Cadillac CTS and a couple of these, this one is just over budget ,but it's a V8 with LPG- there were 2 3.6 V6's I could afford though....
