Just saw this on Jalopnik.   The seats and wheeltrims on this are just perfect.   So much want.

They are distantly related (by marriage) but unfortunately only the earlier car, the plastic SMX, was strangled at birth.

That middle one is photoshopped....

The Genesis, Hyundai's new luxury brand along the lines of Lexus and Infiniti. Looks like an Audi grille and Merc headlights and prices start from almost 50 grand! I fear this will be to Hyundai what Ray Wilson was to Genesis the band so they'll sell about three and thus in a few years they'll be prime shite.

That huge grille reminds of "kelvin clein" boxers.....

I thought Hyundai were doing a pretty good job of rising through the ranks and being thought of as mainstream. Not bad for where they were at. Wouldn't be long until they do a Skoda and become premium.

Not sure they needed a new brand, and surely they've seen how Infiniti and Lexus failed to take off.

Anyone even remember Eunos?

That was Mazda's try.

That was Mazda's try.

Was that not Xedos?

We briefly got the 6 (3-series equivalent-ish) and 9 (5-series-ish) in the UK.

Eunos is what they call JDM MX-5s, innit?

Yeah, this.

Xedos* was the posh brand, and it proved it by bombing.

I do know Eunos because they seem to be more Eunosssesss on eBay than UK MX5s. I guess they were all imported during the huge grey market blast when people realised Japan drove on the correct side of the road, and had funny little cars.

Within 5 miles of my home in the mid to late 90s there were three massive sales pitches devoted to Bongo Friendees, FTOs, Eunos Roadsters, Delicas, Pajeros.....

That was probably half the problem. If you're going to pay extra for a premium brand you want to be able to pronounce it when you're boasting about it.
