Nice car. I'd love a 9-5 estate as my next car :)

That is a very nice example. Practical too. Excellent car. That road tax is pretty bloody pricey though.

€960 tax? And here we are, grizzling about paying an extra months worth of £240 a year tax.

My first 9-5 was a 2.3t manual - suited it quite well methought.  2-litre eco turbo is a bit underpowered, especially with an auto, and the Aero goes too far the other way.  I did want to try a 3-litre diesel version, but having experienced the same engine in my Vel Satis I think I might pass on that one now.

You certainly should, everyone needs a Saab at some point!

Thanks. I don't actually take advantage of its practicality much though to be honest, bar some gym stuff. I just really like estates!

Yep, and thats not even the highest rate.

I did always have my heart set on a 2.3t, and not a 2.0t. Wanted an Aero as they look very nice but there wasn't much (anything) in my price range. And boo to diesels and autos I say.

I have a 9-5 2.3t too but mine is remapped to 235hp 😃

They are lovely cars . You have the best ( hammerhead) wheels too.

Welcomed and approved .

I do believe that you will fit in here rather well  :-D

Again, a cracking car.

Manual is definitely the way to go. I found the automatic absolutely horrible in these. All the quick-decision-making ability of a committee of chatterboxes. Great mile-munchers though. My only other complaint was the fact that the column stalks sound like someone cracking their knuckles when you use them. Made up for by the coolness of twin sunvisors per side.

A friend of mine once commented that an auto Saab he borrowed "lovely car spoilt by a gear box with tourettes"

I just don't like automatics at all, I haven't ever had the pleasure of driving an automatic 9-5, but I don't think I'll ever bother!

More evidence that estates, especially those with leather, are clearly the way forwards. Never been much attracted to Saabs, but those seats look great, like a pair of old comfy armchairs.

Oh yeah, they are, and they're heated - amazing, they make my bum nice and warm in the mornings. One of my favorite features. But I have many favorite features!

You do know this is Autoshite, right?

Is this some sort of trap?

Nice SAAB BTW, I had a saloon version. I had it remapped up to 270BHP or something for £70. It was that fast and scary I sold it soon after.

(Belated) welcome, linky and thanks for showing me your load area. :-)

Hahaha, I get that a lot, I'm used to it.

On more than one occasion I've had people ask me if my car belonged to my parents :P

I'd love to have it fettled a bit under the bonnet, some day I might, but for now its quick enough!

Ours does 30 round local and 36 to 40 on a run in holiday mode .

I usually see mid 20s day-to-day. I live and work in Dublin, and this is ni frugal machine in Dublin traffic.

On long runs I can manage 30+ though.

Fuel economy isn't a major concern, its a minor sacrifice for all dah powah :D

Go on the Saab UK forum and get a remap from saabnoob . 90 quid . Well worth it for more powah

A remap is on the cards, sometime down the line...

Along with a million other things.

I have a 9-3 56 reg with a 1.8t (2.0 detuned) that's 150bhp std. He claims the remap will take mine to 225 as it's so poor as std! What does anyone think of them - is the car still driveable in traffic, reliable and not too affected on fuel?

Yeah, I think so.
