Sexiest plates this side of 2001.

Cor, look at the font on that!...  etc.

I assume I'm not alone with a reg' plate fetish?

Well anyway... not only do they make a car, they can sometimes be the most interesting bit about it. Here's a few of my under the counter shots, GENTLEMAN ONLY, add your own, the filthier the better.

Oversized, unbranded number plate! 90's font! 6 digit! Last digits resembling a word!

Local registration to me, this. It does add something for me to see a car which is still near its original home.

sorry, this isn't doing it for me. I was overtaken by a red beetle (new one) convertible this evening which had xxx as the last three digits though. Didn't get me too excited though :-(

Bought this to go on my MR2.

Well, it amuses me. :-)

Good thread!  I am a number plate pervert too....Not content but form.  In other words I like plates to reflect the age and original "home" of the car rather than the size of the driver's genitals.   Bonus points for orginal dealership logos etc.   I would deduct a few points from the first pic of that Minor.   Reflective plate update is acceptable and a natural part of the car's history but square corners on a Moggie rear plate?    Should be slightly round cornered!    Winnah is the Amazon, nice bent original plate....

I hope Sandie doesn't mind me ripping off his spot from the lazy spotters thread but the rear plate on this Transit camper should appeal to top level plate lickers like myself:

It's a font with very rounded letters, rather than the squared off characters of most plates. I've only seen them on Mid-70's to early 80's stuff and they look pretty fragile, being a proper rectangular plate with no rounded off edges. Someone on RR bought an early 3 Series in seriously good condition sporting a set of these.

Anyway noticing things like this makes me fear for my suitability to function in society, so I'm going back to my rock to hide behind it again.

I thought I'd imagined the plate style like the one on that camper, thank you for letting me know I hadn't!

This is a terrible number plate.  As with the rest of the picture, it tells of some terrible mistakes being made in someone's life, and I do get a kick from other people's misery.

I may, just possibly, have won something with this picture.  I cannot think of a more perfect application of this particular font.

Just perfect, including those headlight wipers.

If you look up 'anachronism' in the dictionary, it shows this picture.  See also 'winning' and 'sexy numberplate action'.

There is something very satisfying about a 2 number registration, whether it's a prefix or suffix plate.  I find myself coveting this plate and the car it is attached to.

It's not just the number plate which in itself is pretty special, but it's the car it's on and that massive looking L plate that makes this for me.  A regular plate wouldn't do in this tableau, it has to be a stick on one.

I also get a little grin at local reg motors, we currently own 2 local reg cars, do you also play the local reg game as your driving around, see how many you can spot and say out loud before your passenger.

Hang on. Doesn't this mean you have to know someone at least equally weird? In real life I mean. As in away from the internet?

and say out loud before your passenger.

do you find you win this particular game a lot of the time?

;P

In reality I do get what you are on about. The Astra is sporting a crap new font plate. My second 2cv had lovely raised letters in a roundy font, but it was black and silver on an N reg car so I had to throw them in the bin.

That is my pet hate: black and white on a car too young or worse still foreign fonts. French font does not make your British number on your rhd 2cv look French. It makes it look shit, OK?

This does it for me, local to me registered, the dealership is based about 8/9 miles from me and 1 mile from my workplace, I drive by where it once was nearly every day, the guys who ran it now own the company my work rent land from and I haven't seen one of their plates for easily 15 years.

Where did you spy this fine specimen?
