I went karting this wednesday with a mate and my girlfriend.

 

Now I am hooked.

 

The venue was Warrington, and we were racing on a 1000m indoor track, apparently the longest in the UK, I got 1 hour karting for £40, so fairly cheap.

 

The karts were fairly quick, their website says 40mph and it certainly felt like it, and the track was brilliant - fast and slow sections and up and down ramps and different surfaces - tarmac, plywood and concrete. It takes a while for the karts to accelerate, but they are awesome in the corners and it is brilliant fun!

(This video was taken in 2013 and since then they have upgraded their karts - the ones they use now seem a bit quicker than these)

I am suggesting that since we have had a lack of meets this summer this gives a few of us the chance to get together for some bants.

 

So would anyone be up for it? They have offers on Sundays-

 

Unlimited track time on Sundays - 5 x 10 min sessions for £35. 

 

On Sundays they use what they call the INTER track - the longer, 1000m one as in the video above. 

 

You can upgrade and get more track time there and then on the day.

 

All the dates in the poll have spaces availiable at 6pm.

I suggest we all aim for the 6pm time slot, and that gives us time to buy a couple more sessions if we fancy, and time to mope around and poke holes in each others' chod.

The facilities are very good- ample car parking with CCTV, clean tidy communal areas, constantly-updating score-boards, helpful staff, food and drinks availiable, and plenty of seating if the Mrs wants to sit it out.

I like the sound of that, and Warrington isn't a million miles away either. Doubt I'd be able to make the 19th as that's the better half's birthday weekend, but the other two dates are probably fine. Put me down as 50/50!

Cannae do 5th, I've just booked to go on a taster session to be a Marshall at Donington Park.

 

Probably can't do any Sunday in October in fact due to some sort of getting married thing happening at the end of it.

Autoshite - (rustier the better)

Camera

Bit of spare cash for food/drinks

Comfortable clothes, nothing too tight or too warm, you'll have overalls over the top.

Trainers - (or shoes without toes poking out)

The dredit/debit card you booked with

Your confirmation print-out

Do not come drunk. 

 

Aim for half 5 arrival - you need time to sit through the breifing and to get suited up

 

Wives and girlfriends welcome - there is plenty of seating overlooking the track. 

 

There are currently 16 spaces on that session, but so if that fills up book the 18.15 session, we will all inter-mingle in and see each other anyway, even if we wont go out on the track together.
