Live International Shite Collection...

With all the epic shite collection threads of late, I figured it was time for a crap one.

Bit of an early start this morning, much to the delight of the missus, who offered to run me to the airport.

Dublin airport is surprisingly busy at the moment - people making avail of the cheapo flights to be had at this time of day.

I'm using the autoshiter's favoured airline - at £26 single, the flight was a megabarg; the train at the other side is costing (slightly) more.

Just about to board - more later...

I hope it's the Toyota the vendor of the 306 that Explosive-Cabbage bought was selling.

Alas, no - the a frame wouldn't fit in the Ryanair bag size checker. Bastards.

NEED MOAR CLUES.

Umm - it's exactly the same age as the watch in the first picture?

(Rubbish clue; sorry. Even my ultimate train destination would make it too easy).

Posted

That's a brand new watch from Argos, and you're going to buy a new Hyundai i30 on finance?

Stansted - Birmingham - Norwich

Shirley there's a better route to Norwich from Stansted.

Posted

wuv needs to be rushed by autoshiters

cant believe you went from stansted to brum then out to norwich

Posted

It's Stansted - Cambridge - Norwich.  The final destination of the Stansted - Cambridge train is Brum.

That's a bit mad even by AS standards which obviously are low anyway. Nice watch.

More car stuff tomorrow!

Visa or C15 van?

Posted

Citroen LNA perhaps??

Posted

That will be the LNA! I've driven it, it's surprisingly comfortable and capable but I still wouldn't want to spend 7 hours in it!

Posted

Top purchase!

Are the seats as comfortable as Visa ones? I think 7 hours in them would be okay even if the noise from the engine and plastic interior was a little irritating.

Ridiculously soft, in a way unheard of since the mid to late 80's.... :-)

I've been a tad remiss on my collection thread, after a strong start - The few beers last night turned into many, and the hangover this morning befuddled my brain to the extent I couldn't function till after lunchtime.

The background:

My folks, despite being non-car people, seem to have influenced me during my formative years - Their first car was a hand-me-down Mini Woody, but soon replaced by a succession of shite including a Datsun 120A, Dyane and Mk1 Visa Club.

Early exposure to French shite must have had a lasting effect, as I've long since harboured a liking for 70's & 80's French chod; buying wackywacerwills peasant spec 205 was a toe in the water prior to acquiring some grade A gallic rammel.

I had a euro hoon planned in my modern, so couldn't collect the LNA till the end of August - Wuv was kind enough to put it aside for me, and I picked it up yesterday.

No fag lighter meant a battery pack for the sat nav - And I had a battery powered speaker to which I plugged in my old iphone running the tune in radio app, so I could listen to Sally Traffic on R2, as well as a decent session from Scott Matthews (highly recommended).

The journey is detailed above, but it was amazingly painless - No petrol station shot, as I fuelled it on the test drive with Wuv, and again at Scotch Corner - Where the minibus at the next pump, containing a hen party, put me off any such snappery....

420 miles in just over 7 hrs - Averaging just under 60mph, and returning 45.2 mpg on the way, while holding a genuine GPS verified 78 leptons on the motorway.

No RLOD, and didn't seem to have used any fluids when I checked at Scotch Corner - Lovely.

Once the hangover wore off, I gave it a wash today - Enjoy some LNA loveliness... The car disliked by Citroen enthusiasts as a rebadged 104, and by Peugeot enthusiasts as a Citroen :-P

These collection threads are getting out of hand once aeroplanes keep being featured. I cannot compete (I ain't gettin' on no plane).

Great story though. Enjoy!
