Will it Fit.

I have tracked a BINI bonnet in the right liquid yellow colour at last, but it's going to need transporting. Do we think there's any way I can get it inside a 04 Accord Saloon ?

Could I strap it to a bike rack ? Could I attach the MX5 boot rack to the boot (I think it will fit) and tie it to that ?

Blanket on the roof of the Accord, BINI bonnet on blanket and ratchet strap it through the car, onto the roof.

Use as many blankets etc as required, to prevent surfaces being scratched or dirtied.

IMO.

Bolt it onto the bootlid at a jaunty angle to use as a rear spoiler.

Easy on the ratchet straps If you go for the blanket on roof idea. You will kink or distort the roof very easily.

Fix the bini but kill the Accord? Boooo

Drive over the BINI bonnet with the Accord.

That's option 2.

+1 on the blanket roof ratchet strap idea but it's probably worth seeing if it'll fit first as the local plod may not take too kindly to it overhanging by loads or whatnot.

Know anyone with a van? That would be easier still.

It's a saloon. He would probably struggle to get a folded pram in there. :D

I reckon it's my way, or the highway - or both, depending how well it is secured.

See if you can find one of those inflatable roof racks (I kid you not). They're ace, and more common on the continent.

If not, inner tubes / air-bed / couple of li-los.

Remove original bonnet from bini, drive to collect new bonnet bonnetless. Fit new bonnet, drive home...

PS: Please people, think about your thread title punctuation; there's been some shockers lately.

Overuse of the word dodgy.

'Lucas' is an acceptable substitute.

A few years ago I bought a replacement bonnet for my Landy. It was located somewhere above Coventry. I used the Amica to collect it with the aid of a small duvet and some 'thinner that I would have liked' rope. It worked reasonably well until around Coventry. The rope was unhappy. I understood this and provided my right hand to help secure the bonnet whilst driving. It was fun*. It was so much fun that I left the bonnet with a mate in Cov and collected it a few weeks later using the Landie.

Well dodgy!

I transported a 405 bonnet on the roof bars of my Accord a few years back, it was fine. But Pete's idea is best. It's only 4 bolts on the hinges.

I may be being a bit silly here, but won't it just fit behind the front seats? Just open the rear door and slide it in standing upright.

Anecdotally, a mk3 Escort bonnet will fit in a Fiat Cinquecento with the doors and boot shut, and still leave room to drive fairly comfortably.

Anything's possible. Aren't the front lights part of the bonnet assemblage on a Bini?

Can I just congratulate everyone on not saying it's not worth the hassle, scrap the Bini and just roll around in the Accord instead.  Because I know several people will have thought it.

Not that it helps you one iota but I managed to fit the following XM parts in the back of my C900 (and closed the boot and could even see out of my rear view mirror)

Bonnet and hinges

Front panel

Radiator and intercooler

Nose cone

Bumper

Various lights and other odds and sods.

The answer then is to buy an old Saab (probably).
