WOSSIT WURF? ROTTEN SHERPA COUPE

Hi chaps and chapesses, been asked to recover some debt for someone, and the debtor has outside his house a 1973(?) M plate MGBGT. It's not moved for some time and my "client" thinks it's worth the £1000 he is owed. I disagree, but acknowledge it's worth more than it looks, I'm saying £500 tops, if there are some decent bits, and assuming it has it's VIN plates etc.

What do you reckon?

I reckon you're a lot closer to the mark.  There's plenty of rotten Bs on the Bay for around a monkey.  If it's '73 it'll be tax exempt, which will help a bit, but not much.

If you factor in the cost of removing it, storing it and selling it then I don't think it's worth the hassle.

I suggest breaking the guys legs.

Speaking as the voice of experience, not of MGBs but as a former bailiff who's uplifted plenty of cars in my time, you can't simply bang on someone's door with a flatbed and give him an ultimatum of either paying up or handing the V5.

@ Warren, the paperwork will be completed beforehand, despite me working at "mates rates" it'll all be above board.

Tread carefully! I can see this ending in police intervention and they'll be more sympathetic to his cause than yours.

I'll have it/ bits of it/ spares. Not that I have a Sherpa Coupe needing bits. Honest.

Surely he'll owe you more money after you take it away from him? FNARR FNARR

Joking aside, where are you outlaw? It's probably worth here daahn saafth than it would be if it was oop noorf. You'd be suprised at how much a complete basket case will go for at auction here.

I'm daahn sarf, Essex...or as Mr Cavcraft would put it, a Fookin' Mockney.

Hoping it won't come to it, as it seems like a load of arseache. I'm getting very little out of it personally, just the prolonged gratitude of a mate, but the court have made a decision in his favour, and the 28 days he asked for is up at the end of the month. We'll see what happens.

Obviously I'll post photo's, and give Red5 first shout on whatever I don't have to sweep up.

At the right auction house I reckon it could fetch up to £800 as a "project".

You only need to have a flip through the action pages of Classic Car Buyer to see what I mean.
