Spots by Mash - BEEN A WHILE

Not often I get to do more than one car at a time but had a bit of luck with spots in the car park at the model fair at Donington at the weekend.

Nice Java green Spit piloted by unlikely Sid-type!

Sunny was tidy but for the dent:

I personally haven't seen a 305 on the road for ages:

Not one, but two black, H-reg Corolla Executives. Spooky.

This one was very tidy:

This one was not...

And this little beauty was waiting for me when I came out. How early is this then??!! Saved from Barrying by the grace of being a saloon. Someone loves it, loads of period stickers but later grille methinks?

Will try harder with snapping in future!

Nova's nice-agree with the grille looking later. 305 Diesel ftw though 8)

I bet those Corolla Executives make an excellent 'real-world' car. Can't believe that Novas go back to Y-reg, that one is very tidy and great to see it on the steels with no wheel trims.Model fair any good?

Model fair any good?

It was actually considering they'd tailed off a bit. Haven't been to a swapmeet for ages, most stuff coming from flebay these days, but with a bit of spare cash thought I'd give the Donington one a go again. Glad I went. Best buy was an excellent 1/24 model of the Alfa Giulia for a fiver:

*library pic* cos I'm too lazy to take a proper photo and faff with Photobouquet :P

Couple more I forgot about on the camera. This Lancia and Audi were near a bike dealership i visited in Germany recently:

Yes slightly later grill, possibly from a 1985 model.

I think this is the original grill:

My cousin had a late Nova, sadly he barried it up very badly and on the cheap, and it showed, for one of mods he used cut-down Escort RS Skirts for the side skirts, how he fitted them I dont know, I'll have to upload some pics later.

A bumper mixed bag mostly from this year after emptying my camera. Some from shows, others out and about. Some shite, some not so. No particular order but hopefully something for everyone

This......

...is spot on. It really needs its original chrome grill, but apart from that I'd be most happy to own it.

Love those BMC car carriers too. Certainly more interesting than the actual vehicles that would be in them.

RHD 2 door opel? Love to know more about this - ex services car perhaps?

probably just a cavalier that the owner is trying to make more exotic.I have a cortina owning mate who has slapped taunus badges on his car to confuse the anoraks at shows!

Looks a fantastic show, love the Cavalier Calibre, but what is this Bertone-styled monster - i love it!

Where was the show??

This looks rather tasty - for sale sign in the window?

And the prize goes to Michiel! I wondered how many would guess the Quattroporte II. :D I was puzzled by the red one. Definitely not an A40, I thouhgt maybe some sort of special bodied Healey :? Pics are at various shows over the summer:RR08 GaydonNewark AutojumbleSilverstone ClassicNewby HallBMC/BL Rally, PeterboroughThe blue Astra was for sale; extremely tidy it was too. The Ascona was one of my faves. I thought it might have been from Ireland originally being RHD but could just have been special order. I should have taken more notice of the notes

OMG OMG OMG! I was under the impression that no Quattroporte II's were ever actually sold. That is the spot of the century.

That looks like it was a fantastic show- some unusual stuff there. Where was it? Love the black '40s Yank, what is it? Lincoln?

oh dear, look at that microblistering under the paint..

I was struggling to work out what it was! It looks like the sleeker lovechild of a Fiat 130 berline and a Peugeot 604

This one's of similar vintage - note the correct spec grille :)

That Maser is unbelievable, I would have literally filled 'em on sight if I had encountered that. I always thouhgt it was a car that only existed on 'TOP TRUMPS' cards and the C+SC mystery car comp!

Just a couple of pics languishing on my phone for ages. First is a lovely Beta coupe that appeared fleetingly outside the village garage. Not sure if it was for sale or a customer car, but very tidy. Haven't seen it since.

Posted Image

This mod-type chap was very cool looking on his way to work on his Lambretta. Love these scooters.

Posted Image

Apologies for these next two being the shittiest phone pics you ever did see but so worthy of inclusion. Spotted this gem on the way to our Christmas night out yesterday. Sid and Doris pootling through the Hull city centre traffic in their slightly careworn Escort Popular that they've no doubt had since new, oblivious to the fact that it's not 1986 any more, off for a spot of late night shopping.

Two questions:

1) It's a local car DRH ***T so why have I never ever seen it before (Serck plates FTW).

2) It's a fuggin' 2-door so how on earth has it slipped through the scene tax net

That's my boss in the driver's seat reaching down for my sedatives as I was screeching like a man possessed.....

No we didn't go that way.

Here's one more from my travels this week, the only interesting car I saw in three days from Hull down to the NEC and back, then up to Glasgow and home again, apart from a G-reg Bedford Rascal

Tootling down the M6 from Carlisle at a leisurely pace I was aware of something interesting bearing down on me quite rapdily and it turned out to be this Alfa Giulia. It was absolutley grafted and looks like he'd been on some kind of run maybe. Not keen on the colour but I love these and this one wasn't hanging about 8)
