arena essex is on today

Lots of cars have a full width beam holding the steering column in, you need to cut them out and weld something else in as smack in the side can bend the beam and push the wheel into your balls.

I went near Ringwood today. E39 5 series appears to be the banger weapon of choice there.

I have Foxhall Stadium up the road so I'm always seeing bangers on the back of hiabs, I've started keeping a eye out after this thread and yesterday I saw a BMW E36 coupe on the back of one with rear end damage.

To be honest I'm surprised the Health & Safety bods haven't legislated the whole hobby out of existence by now

Posted

Because none of the people taking part are AT WORK...

Better get hold of a nice early Mondeo then before all the bangers use them up, or are we talking mk3s here?

I wonder how long it will before we these on the oval?

Say what you like about them, but they're put together like brick poo rooms. Not long before hordes of them up in breaker's yards with borked DSGs. Rip out the knackered box and put a normal box in? If anyone can do that on a tight budget, it's the banger boys.

Nah, they're worth too much in Romania/Bulgaria/Albania/countries without oil in the Middle East.

Has anybody else been watching all the Baghdadshite on the news recently..so that's where all the Carltons/Cavaliers/Omegas went, or at least their German market cousins. Also just clocked a mid 1990s Kia Sephia, not sure if I've ever saw one outside a Kia dealer here.

Justt horde any undamaged bumpers, they'll be worth a fortune to the OSF lot one day

Say what you like about them,

1) The sooner the better

2) They're fucking rubbish and probably wouldn't last one lap of the oval before something went wrong.

Agreed, VAGshite at it's wurst. On lap 3 the oil pump chain would fall off and the thing would grind to a halt, handbrake jammed on thanks to wanked calipers.

Oh they are complete shit, but built like tanks. It's the only thing they have going for them.

Not any better built than anything else in its class , just clever use of sound deadening and soft touch interior to give a perception of quality and weight

Speaking of VAG, I was wondering how come Skoda Octavias aren't used? They seem to be tough as old boots.
Or is it a lot of messing about with the engine?

Posted

Because they're minicabbed until worn so utterly smooth that not even an oval-racer could get them going again!

The way Octavia taxis are driven round here you'd think they were banger racers.

I'd have a sudden interest in banger racing if there was a 2000-2014 VAG cars only race.

Maybe accident damage will be the new rat look?

Wakefield.

Knackered minicabs... Wakefield...

What do they use for Ministox these days? I have seen Micra K11s, Corsas and Seicentos stripped out for some sort of oval racing, don't think it's a contact one though.
