That is a sharp-dressed man with a sharp-dressed motor; Armstrong Siddeley Special I think.

I think I've read about this; did they do most of that distance on their own wheels and the CO was somewhat buccaneering?

That is Larry Gains, once British Empire heavyweight boxing champion.

I don't know what the car is, it is very low looking for 1932, an Invicta perhaps?  Or some exotic continental brand

Another very hard to find book

tells the story, but yes, their CO was one of those hard to believe and unstoppable characters. Would make a great film!

I think the car is a Lagonda 2 litre, with a coach built body. He had to chuck it when the kids came along, although how they all fitted in here is a mystery (perhaps it's just for the missus and the kids hooned along in the Lagonda with Dad, or did they sit in a dicky?).

And later, in the 60 or early 70's, amidst a forest of street furniture and photobombing Fords.

Superb images from when London was interesting, it’s a dull place now though....

Sweden I think.  Splendid Rover P4

This is the old bridge between Sweden and Norway taken when Sweden still drove on the left. Norway already / always drove on the wrong side of the road. The picture must be taken from the Swedish side and the bridge must follow Norwegian traffic rules. The dark square looks to have been the crossover point.

CBA to look up the exact date we hired Sheffield Transport 1012 (Weymann Fanfare bodied Leyland Leopard - in the middle of the picture) but it's probably 1970ish. The old Norfolk Arms, Manchester Road, Sheffield (A57 Snake Pass).
