Photo from a local car show (warning, contains awesomeness!)

Today has been a good day. I run a local Facebook based car club and today was the day of our first proper car show, The Ipswich transport museum was kind enough to allow us to hold a show at their premises and run a couple of classic buses through the day for rides through town and over the Orwell bridge, all for £5 a car.

The weather started a bit crap but that didn't seem to put too many people off.

This little Concerto cost the owner £260, He only bought it as a injector failed on his old Focus TDCi, it was either £300 to fix that or buy a new low mileage car for less!

Another low mileage jem, the wheels looked fab on it.

My mates Taunus, He only got the new Gaz suspension back Saturday morning so it's been a man rush to get it ready for the show.

Some rubbish old Civic.

This Orion is now packing a RS2000 motor, he's just completed it, I took it for a drive after the show, bloody hell, it's a animal! The only problem was that the suspension was a bit hard for my liking.

Bristol B21 for me. Oh, and throw that grotty old Civic in the back if you must!

Posted

That mk1 xr2 looks lovely. Always liked the way they look, it's amazing what a difference round headlights and some clever graphics make.

Posted

I will take the sunburst red XR2 please. Always my favorite colour in that model and I managed to buy one in all colours except that one.(wish I still had one)

Posted

My next door neighbour had a dizzler Fiesta which was K529 PRT!

That kitted 700 is hillarious. Whats the story on it Trig?

Surely those stripes are non-OEM?

Posted

Fantastic turnout! Did it work out as you'd planned?

Better if I'm honest, especially with the weather at the start, I think it put a few people of but we still had 41 cars turn up and everyone has said what a good day it's been, even the local aviation approached me today and asked if could have a show there! They have a field big enough for 100+ cars which is exciting!

Posted

The lad bought it a couple of years ago, It's was all fitted from factory but I'm buggered if i can remember the story behind it now, It had a expensive number plate i think at one point but was never used so it's only done 14000 miles, It has stacks of old history too.

I took these photos of it a while back.

I rather fancy the idea of a zetec powered Mk 1 Fester.

Posted

Fine set of pics there. The Concerto looks good. The owner ought to be encouraged to post on here.

Posted

That Mk1 Fez Zetec is lovely. Just my cup of tea.

Posted

I like your Acclaim a lot too, but not quite that much...

I remember ads for those Volvo body kits and stripes in the back of CAR magazine back in the 80s - made by Zender? I'd dig one out and scan it but that seems somehow impertinent in one of your threads, Trig.

Ta for the pics, looks like a grand day you organised there.

I'm amazed Jon took his XR2 out in the rain!

It's still looking good and would be my favorite of that lot if it wasn't for that white Orion - except for the number plates.

Posted

Top bombing. The red Orion and the Mk4 Cortina are just fabulous.

Posted

I didn't know you knew Jon! Yes he was wining like a little girl about it getting wet and having to go home to dry the underside!

Posted

That looks like a great show! Nice work Triglesworth.

Mk1 XR2 or white Orion for me please.

Posted

Cheers, I'm really pleased with how well the day went, the owner of the Allegro even went out and bought a tweed jacket and hat especially!

Looks good, they do something similar at Canvey bus depot once a year, I think October time but not been for probably 4/5 years..

Tough one, probably the white XR2 for me.

Posted

I see you used my photo there of the badge & sticker on't back of't t'leggro :P

Posted

:) Mrs spotted the new ECR sticker on the bootlid of the motor. Was a cracking meet, shame I missed the XR3 like, but 41 motors turning up, pat on the back there buddy, well done to you and the bald one :)
