The further adventures of MO's skip

A quick refreshment stop is had at Swindon. Baguette and coffee. It's time for Train 2 and it's a lesser spotted hst. Easily my favourite modern train. Comfortable, quick and when did they have tv on board? Lots of building work going on at reading.

Have watched two quite good short films so far.

Two of today's female passengers are performing some form of mating ritual involving sharing drinks and kissing. Entertaining, to say the least ;-)

You have my attention.

I am waiting by the computer for your next update.

It was going so well, apart from the lack of photographic proof of progress!

My daughter was very upset that she couldn't go with him! And myself and Amy now like 306 coupes!

flaming 'ell. that all went pete tong - I was too busy having fun to bother with any more updates!

So, was also too busy watching You Tube to notice my stop, didn't realise we'd reached Broxbourne till the train was pulling out of the station! Next stop four minutes later and return back to Broxbourne to discover seller in his X5 in the car park. Back to his to find a rather nice car parked in the car port, hood down, ready to go! Bonus quarter tank of fuel and check of previous receipts to see timing belt and water pump changed at 17000 miles and a £1300 bill from last October for pads, discs, full service and a whole host of MoT work including brake hoses, new brake fluid and full bleed and a tyre.

London cars are certainly pampered - especially those in Holland Park it seems - found it outside its last home (a rather nice Georgian semi with massive garden in Lansdowne Rd, W11) on google earth. Car comes with a whole host of history, and drives beautifully! Certainly feels like it has done a mere 22,000 miles. Gearbox is tight and everything works. It's super clean and if I was picky I'd pick it up on a badly fitted seal to a newish windscreen and a small dent on the driver's door the size of a penny. Today I've done about a month's worth of driving for the poor wee thing in London.

Mrs MO is delighted, not that she has driven it yet! But she likes the powah! and the colour, and overall tidiness. Sold in France and imported as new in 2002. Sorting out its hood tomorrow but going to find a good secondhand one to replace it with.

Pics to follow when they've uploaded to flickr on our superslow broadband.

Agree about 'some' London cars. The previous keeper of my BMW had an address in Buckingham Palace Road, SW1W. The previous service carried out was for over £800 incl rear brakes, which to some folk in these parts of London is small change. The HPi check also shows a rather valuable plate on it at some point. Its always nice to buy a car and find these kind of receipts Messerschmitt because you will sell it on one day with good service history and 100% confidence 8)

Fantastic! This feels all wrong on these pages;

Acquired in France, brought home to a posh bit of London by the original (loaded) owners, stunning drop top Pinninfarina lines etc etc etc. I guess the hood is torn and it was a total bargain which recovers some autoshite credentials, well bought!

Posted

it's not wrong - I don't think we should all try and buy the worst car we can find and we should instead find the best at the least money!

The original owners paid £13250 for it in 2002, having asked for a new hood window to be fitted on 13 May. It was bought in France from peugeot Sodexa by Geco Cars of Richmond, Surrey and sold to ...

FFS - this sounds like the Doctor's sales shite patter.

I'm chuffed, Mrs MO is chuffed and I don't think fitting a decent s/h hood is beyond my DIY skills.

Today's highlight was seeing my old XM estate and its current owner, and family of course! Especially the little footprint-leaving monster :-)

Its proper tidy! Shame about the roof but if the cover wasn't torn a good session with the spray grease would see it right.

Envious service history too, some impressive bills in there.

I sHowed you a garage with 19 Hoovers in, you could have had it vacced out before you left!

Top purchase! I own 2 of these...a phase one and a phase 3 like yours. Bought my phase 3 as a cat D write off because of a slashed hood. Not a terribly difficult job to do if you allow a day for it. It's definately a two man job as the hood and frame are surprisingly heavy and the frame is held on by 3 bolts either side. The rams are attached by clevis pins and clips and are easy to detatch. I look forward to seeing how you progress with this.I've had 5 years of happy motoring with mine, and are in my view currently very underrated.

Today was spent trying to sort out the roof - my sewing is rubbish but it's now at least all together.

Hopefully sorted a tidy blue roof, which should transform 'Frankenroof'

Been generally going over the car and looking at the history.

Labels are everywhere under the bonnet - proclaiming when things were last maintained.

it has gone from this

to this - still not pretty, I know, but better - it can be driven with the roof up now.

new roof is sorted and with luck being collected next Sunday.

£150 - which sounds decent. Have volunteered a friend to help me fit it.

it looks really clean. They must have built these in parallel with the 307 as they came out in 2001

So, messerschmidt calls in on Beko at Stokenchurch on the way home from collecting the Pugatron.    There was a heavy armed police presence in Stokenchurch over the weekend.  I'm just saying.
