No, they're more about entertainment than they are about actual car sales. They're also some of the best threads on the board and moving them to a quiet sub forum would kill them. 

 

Otherwise I'd support a classifieds board. It would allow people to post more individual items for sale which aren't worth a thread at the moment.

If Johnny Fuckwit starts seeing some of the bargainous gems shiters offer one another and joins up with theirt usual "£200 4 cashM8" it'll just piss everyone off.

 

Otherwise it's a handy idea, some prime bargains seem to be changing hands on the forum at the moment but as ever, they can drop off the first page fairly quickly and get forgotten about.

 

Edited to add....Of course that's how it is at the moment, but with the chaotic nature of the place it's less easy to find the F/S threads unless you go hunting them down. I'm probably not that bothered I've just decided....

That said a separate section would be useful when looking for a motor as at times it's hard to keep track of how many Volvo's are currently for sale and it would cut down on the "Anyone got a cheap motor for sale" threads/posts.

To be honest whilst I'm sure newcomers might plague sellers with stupid offers, we can always ignore or deride them at our leisure and you never know, they might have something interesting to sell themselves plus be a serious buyer for somebody's shite.

 

personally I'm not overly keen on people signing up just to sell something (just seems bad manners, that's all) but none of us would complain if we scored something cheap or interesting I suppose!

I don't mind ads having their own forum location, but true shiteads as proposed lose the thread functionality and Autoshite ads are as much a story as an ad. I would be a little bit dissappointed if this happened

The BX forum has recently separated car classifieds from misc classifieds, works well as you no longer have to trail through 1,000,000 WANTEDS until you see a genuine ad

There is not really enough for sale to warrant it IMO. However I also don't want to miss out on cars for sale if they are hidden away elsewhere on their own board which I might not look at.

 

Plus if someone is wanting to buy a car there are enough people here that know whats for sale that they point it out when they ask although I suppose it might stop all the 'whats for sale' posts.

I'd say yes - even with two forums a for sale ad basically vanishes off the front page the same day, so not very visible. Perhaps have something like a 50 post minimum for anyone wanting to advertise, just to stop people signing up for that sole purpose
