They look oddly normal inside. Call my old fashioned but I'd prefer one that hasn't been shot at.

Well, good luck to the seller really. If the buyer wants to splurge 12 Large on something thats been abused thats up to them I suppose.

Cant say it appeals to me really. I prefer my cars with fewer bullet holes and without cable ties to open the doors with.

There is a garage near me with the life on mars cortina and a police rover p6 in the showroom, I'd not be surprised if this ends up there too.

I wonder what the appeal is - I mean in a few years the programs will be largely forgotten and the cars not really mean much to the younger generation who wont have watched them.

As  nipper there was a garage in Warton (Georges for any locals) who had a white Jag XJS, which he displayed in the showroom with the plate ST 1 (for younger listeners, go away and Google "Ian Ogilvy - the Saint, then come back)

He rarely drove it (though when he did obviously it had to wear its RFV Preston plates) and was approached on more than one occasion to sell it. Eventually many years later the garage business faltered, Georges health failed and the Jag was sold - for £1100. Seems an awful waste of money to me as I remember having to explain to one of my girlfriends younger brothers what was so special about the Jag in the window....

the irony is, the other one from the show is sat on 4 flat tyres at Shepperton, lookin very unloved. TBH I am surprised how much this is up to, given the show finished nearly 3 years ago and hasnt been repeated.

i'd rather have the brown one on eBay at sub £3000!

Wow that scene on the last episode where the Quattro got killed bought a tear to my eye, I have to say personally I wouldn't pay what the biddings on for it though but obviously it's worth it to someone

Not always the case though - just look at the Back to the Future DeLorean, A Team van, KITT etc

..Is this the one that had a sunroof drawn on it?? - someone noticed in filming that one of the quat's didn't have a sunroof & the others did

Posted

no this one does have a real sunroof, the original/other one had a sunfoof seal stuck to it so the two exteriors matched

Posted

Hasn't the other one got the early wheelz too?

Posted

One thing not mentioned is how badly bent it is after that jump!

Does it matter? It'll go straight into a movie car collection I'd assume.

as long as its on display only no.

BUT

I’m sure in the right hands it could be returned to

the road.

kinda makes it look like it could at some point be legally driven on the road. OK that may be possible but gawd knows how much work it would take or what it would cost.

If someone is just looking for one to drive, there certainly are better offerings out there.

true, and I am sure the kind of mong that would think they could drive it home aint likely to lash out 12+ large.....

Really good ones have been £10k+ for some time, especially late 20 valve jobs.

Call me old fashioned but I'd prefer one that's about £11,800 (at current price of £12,300) cheaper. As well as an un-shot, un-dog-chewed-interior one.

ok, but this one has a banana chassis and is full of holes, with bits of interior missing. It does have the fame and provenance though.

But it's not even on the same plates so after spending twelve bags on it, you'd end up explaining to people what it is.... And having them walk away halfway through the conversation when they realise you're the type of boring tit who buys a car just because it was in a TV show.

"It's a 1983 car that was put on a 1979 plate for a 2008 TV show set in 1981 although quattros were not introduced until 1980 and not sold in the UK as RHD until late 1982"

"Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

it was never on the JLY plate. That was only for on camera use. Its fine to put the prop plate when on show....
