IS anyone up for Chomondoelelenoely this year?

I've only found one date, and that is the Pageant of Power, but I'm sure the classic car show will be on - your chance to view the same cars as the previous years, get sunburnt, buy a hotdog for £5, get constipated, stand uncomfortably close to another male while using a urinal in a small shack, and peruse about three stands selling £20 brochures or mugs with a motion-blurred photo of your car half cut off.

Actually, it's been a good laugh for the past few years!

13th, 14th & 15th June  - Cholmondeley Pageant of Power.     A fantastic family weekend of exhilarating motorsports, historic and modern racing cars and bikes, powerboats and helicopters and helicopter displays and demonstrations, lots of other attractions including extensive shopping pavillion.  For more information about this event and future events please visit www.cpop.co.ukor telephone 01829 772433.

Has our regular Chumley show moved? now at the end of August?

With Shitefest being in May, perhaps having a gap of a couple months is a good idea for another meet?

edit: Is this the original Chumley, now Arley in early May? http://classicshowsuk.co.uk/carshoweventsinformation/carshow_date.asp?id=362

Yeah, that's the one Skattrd. Apols for that annual highlight being so close (timewise and geographically for a lot of people) to Shitefest Cymru. Perhaps we could do the August one instead? It's the same show I think.

Would anyone be interested in this?

(local press report from last year's event): http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/thousands-enjoy-day-in-sun-at-distington-vintage-rally-1.1068981

So old-school that it doesn't appear to have a website or anything, so the above is the best I could find.

It's usually on the first Sunday of July. Distington's in West Cumbria, only a few miles from Workington pretty much at the end of the A66.

I go every year and it's small but good.

Entry criteria for cars is so loose that a J reg Metro was displayed last year. Sadly, it didn't win best car. There is no justice in this world.

Anyone know of any shows going on in the South East this Sunday? Southern classics in Chichester is all I can find so might go to that.

Forgot about this thread, and Chumley in general.

Going to knock Chumley on the head this year, at least the May one, as it's a bit too close to DOLLYFEST. Can 'do' the September one though if anyone wants?

I like the look of that Distington event, have to have a look at my list and see if there's anything clashing.  If not, there might be a red MR2 on site...

There is another meet at The Riverview Cafe in Forest Row where we had a AS mini-meet earlier in the year.

Cheers Vantman, I'll pop along for about 11ish as before. OI GARY AND BARRETT, fancy this?

Posted

Maybe, if you're defo going.

Don't think Scott is, unless I can be very persuasive somehow.

If I do, I'll be in the Allegro/Escort/Volvo. Haven't decided yet.

So this year that would be July 6th, by my calculations.  Excellent, I've got a show on the 13th but 6th is free.  Count me in!

Any more of the AS:SE division within reasonable distance of East Grinsted? COME ALONG if so.

I know that these are practically dirty words around here, but is anyone else going to Retro Rides Gathering this year?

I am, along with some mates and as much family and friends as I can drag along to bring as much of my fleet as possible. We will be on a stand called 'environmental hazards' - does anyone want to join the stand?

Posted

I'm going, I've not been before so I dunno what the deal is with 'stands' and that. I do have a weekend ticket.

Posted

Not actually booked my ticket yet but I'm planning on going.

I'm going to Beaulieu at the weekend - probably Saturday.

I have a stall there so come and buy my crap quality merchandise!

As long as your car is pre-91, you don't need to be on a stand - you can park on the main show-field. They're not even 'stands', just groups of cars belonging to clubs/forums/area groups that get their own plots.

Ah, but what crap useful parts that I don't need will you be selling?

Mostly automobilia, literature, models accessories etc... Some parts but it won't be huge amounts as the kind of stuff I have in surplus doesn't easily sell there but I always tale some. Might take a couple of sets of wheels again as cheaper stuff seems to find a home ok. I definitely don't have any parts specifically to fit any of your fleet I wouldn't think.
