Through the past darkly...

Wow Junkman, these are amazing. Funnily enough, around 1993 until around 1995 I lived in Belgium with my Dad, my Dad has lived there since 1993 almost continuously. I wonder if you ever crossed paths, even just in passing as my Dad was involved with cars since around that time. My uncle, who worked for GTM Chrysler in Belgium, his boss I think also collecfed classic cars and so on.

That would be the Onasis / Kokotas car.

TBH I have no idea how this got in the mix. The car was at a dealer's in Bruxelles around 1996 IIRC. The cars were located in a building that was originally the Winter quarters of a circus, there were hundreds of them. I went there to look at a Jensen Interceptor that was in the end to tatty for me. I can't remember how this photo ended up in my laptop since I don't think I made it. I think the dealer emailed it to me.

What's his name?

I had a garage and a shop in Verviers, actually doing predominantly yanks. There was also a permanent array of F1 stockcars at my place and other racing stuff, as it happens when you live a stone's throw from Francorchamps. I was doing lots of yank V8s for race cars and boats back then.

Even if I haven't met him, we probably dealt with the same people.

Ronny's Dream Cars in Tessenderlo

That English nutter in St. Stevens Woluwe

The two mad brothers in Herve

Hans Bastings in Maastricht

Then there was this guy in Turnhout that had about 500 yanks

That vast scrapyard in Andenne

That huge place between Bastogne and Arlon that had literally thousands of pre-1960 stuff

And so on...

Jeez, my memory really let's me down. There is a reason for this though.

In all the turmoil of 1998 I suffered from a light stroke. I was only 34.

Usually some of the stuff comes back quite nicely when I'm pissed though.

Brilliant thread J-man. You are the shiters shiter.

Shitpeas... everyone knows that Batman smells, especially this time of year.

Some absolutely astonishing finds you've had Junkman. That as found Delage very much floats my boat though.

If you ever get round to fishing the other stuff from behind the bookcase we'd all love a look.

I blatantly refuse to accept being a bigger shiter than anybody else here. Because I'm not. We are all the same. That's why we are here.

This thread was only meant for you to enjoy some shite I came across in my former life. There will be more. Once I retrieved that bloody box that fell behind the bookcase. Damn.

Back in 199X that Delage changed hands for something like 3,000 quid in today's money. Just to give you an idea how much saner those days were.

I pulled that thing out of a barn just because it is a Delage and I thought it must be saved, like a J-reg Proton. I wasn't living in delusion though,  and knew pretty well that I neither had the funds, nor the resources, to do anything with it. Via two brothers that had a dealership for exotic stuff nearby, I got in contact with a French Delage collector, who bought the car off me (for a profit, I did this for money, like a harbour hooker) and quite obviously he had it restored to the condition it is in now. No matter how well heeled he is and why, this took some doing, let me tell you.

He is the hero around here, not me.

You must of had one fuck of a divorce to have to give that up.

Mr. Junkman, you sir are being a wee bit modest. All I can say is...MOAR!

Nice one Junkman.I bet you could regale some stories of time of yore in the pub on a weekend. With us all sitting listening like eager students.

WOW.  And yes, the caps-lock was deliberate there.  I applaud you, Junkman.

Some excellent stuff has been through your hands, thanks for the photos so far.

That's the thing about Autoshite, whether your budget is £200 or £200,000 there's still a car out there for you which would be more interesting than a new lease drab-mobile to impress the neighbours.

Whereabouts in sunny Belgie were you? I owned a tiny house in Kortrijk in the early 90's -when the economy was still booming- kinda a regular stop over when driving across Yurop.

Funny to think our paths may have crossed 20 years back!

My shop was in Verviers.

Early 90's booming?

I've been told the fascists put the crisis into place in 1986, so they can conveniently start outsourcing to their fascist buddies in China.

Hey, another two years and we can celebrate 30 years of crisis!

Superb thread sir.

If only those facels could tell a story...

From wafting the Beautiful people about in la dolce vita to rotting under a rat piss tarp all in a few decades.

I feared my obsession with Autoshite was starting to fade, but this is incredible stuff.

I am speechless with admiration Sir.
