Hi M8 seemed to have typed an extra 4 into the price for your escort.

looks nice but £14995 for a mk4 escort. I don't think so.

I DON'T want to start an argument but back in the day, that wasn't a mk4 escort, but a Series 2 Mk3 escort.  When did 'we' start calling it a mk4 ?

Posted

The RS models were series 1 and 2 but I've always known that shape as Mk4.

Google Mk4 Escort and you get billions of pictures of that shape, so to call the 1991> model the Mk4 instead would be hideously confusing.

This sellers perceptions of condition, value and right-way-upness differ from mine.

200k miles - £5000.

Oh I don't know - anything weighing a ton and a half that can hang upside down has to be worth that for sheer effort.

There's this sickeningly twee guff to accompany the listing....

Sometimes the Motor Trade unearths hidden treasures, this is one of those times..... Peggy Peugeot! A lovingly cared for, unadulterated, original in every aspect, Peugeot 205 1.8 GLD 5 door hatchback, one family owned since new!
This car even comes with the original supplying dealer rear window sticker intact (faded admittedly), The car was originally specified with the Slide back Peugeot sunroof and the all important Power Steering option.
The bodywork and interior are both in exceptional condition and to this day would grace any car showroom with her presence. So reluctant was the previous family to let her go they wrote a short history of her life for any prospective new keeper.
This little motor car breathes sentiment and nostalgia and is searching for a loving, caring owner to share many loving miles with....... A true usable day to day classic motor car!!!

Let me fix that...

So reluctant was the previous family to let her go they wrote a short history of her life priced it at £3495 as a disincentive for any prospective new keeper.

And furthermore...

The car was originally specified with ... the all important Power Steering option.

I'd say that's only 'all important' if you're the kind of soft get who calls their car...

..... Peggy Peugeot!

£3500 for a 205 diesel. What fucking planet are these guys on!!! even if you're hoping to realise some 'collector car premium' off it, which is already hopeful seeing as its a flipping boggo shopping hatch with zero interesting features (relative to all other 205's), I would say £1500 is already a big ask. But £3500? Why not go all-out and ask for £20k. Talk about amateurish.

Look at this idiot:

He'll accept "substantially lower offers now"; I bet he will the dick.

Crap old wheeltrims, knackered bumbers, god knows what the interior's like as he won't show us.  Buy don't waste his time with daft questions, he's a busy man.

Ads like this piss me off.

Yes, he seems like the sort of turd who'd blank the number plate out in an advert as well.

Wait - he has. Figures.

Didnt realise 305 estates were rare . Maybe now I suppose

No, it's Super rare apparantly............. so that makes it worth the money then.

Are folk like this born stupid or are they just trying extra hard?

Posted

They are looking for a stupid soul mate . Stupid enough to buy it at that price . Would be funny to put these cars in a run of the mill auction and see the owners faces when they see the cars true value. For the 305 " break " I'm guess a little over weigh in value
