This seven grand beauty at 60,000 miles has been serviced an incredible six times in 22 years!

The sixth service was when some idiot managed to spend £4500 on a service and a respray. A friend of mine's business charges £700 for a VW Campervan metallic respray, so I'm not sure how that "restoration" bill had been totted up..

Really? That seems cheap to me. Presumably not including prep? What would he charge for an XJ40 Jag out of interest? Just to depress myself at how much I paid....

He was showing me pictures on his phone and as he's the paintshop guy he was very proud of some T2 thing that they resprayed all over in gunmetal. He quoted £700 as what the customer was charged, and I can only assume they did the prep too to ensure the job was done properly. Garage near York somewhere.

Ok, it's quite nice - but is this ex-rental Granada really worth £4.5k?

Rangey Now amended to a thoroughly reasonable* £3000.

Verdict: Clueless Badgerfelcher.

I imagine the price change was in response to a number of queries regarding the extent of his crack addiction.

1982 ford cortina station wagon

Estate you bellend.

The cortina has been in a one family owner since new in 1982 at a cost of £5895, yes that's right in 1982 the year magyg thatcher was born

What??!!

Price: £5500 As stated

Verdict.. KNOBCHEESE.

Also, the Ark Royal was launched in 1981, not 1982.

Probably not that far out.

Good ones command 30-40k now. So even at this asking price, which IMO is quite negotiable, you'd roughly have a 10k budget to repair it without your total investment exceeding the total value of the car once finished. If you play it smart, it could yield you a few bags profit.

Posted

Blimey, good luck getting that into shape for £10k

Posted

Considering how those are built, it looks worse than it actually is. And yes, the 10k budget I calculated with the future owner doing a lot of the work himself in mind. A credit card resto will easily be twice this amount.

Poliosh MOT huh? That inspires confidence

The inside of the box looks like someone's been using it for target practice....

Can only assume being new to good old Pounds Sterling he's confused pounds and pence. Either that or he left all the drugs in that he was using the van to smuggle.

Posted

Just ring him up at 10.30 in the evening and yell 'WHAT IS BEST PRICE' down the phone over and over. See how he likes it!

They're still in there. logically that's the only reason you'd ask 8 grand for one of those things.

Jesus wept, imagine driving that 307D from Poland to England? It'd have been quicker (and less painful) sailing round the world in a bath tub with a leaky plug and a pair of tramp's undercrackers as a sail.
