"Scene" twats.

I'm starting to come round to the idea that so long as they only do it to shit old VWs so what?

It's when they start fucking up a nice old car that's probably spent 20-30 years being cared for by real enthusiasts that annoys me. The problem is, to the best of my knowledge no car ever comes back from these 'my car my way' fuckwits. Once it gets sC3n3D, the writing's on the wall and the scrapyard beckons.

Oh, come on... plenty of old cars out there that nobody wants anymore. These guys usually have no budget for anything with even little collectors value. They rather save the unloved ones from the scrapyard that are otherwise sentenced to death anyway.

I find the roof rack on a pick up quite funny and drifting grandpa's volvo sounds like fun. These folks enjoy old cars, just as we do, only in a different way.  Actually, is it that much different from what we do?

They seem to have a good sense of humor and i rather prefer young folk "rusting" their cars, than getting squared eyes starring at a game console.

Have we had this yet?

I think I might be a bit of a scene twat, though I think the car in the above pic is horrific.

Nice set of period alloys and a little lower is enough for me.

The guy behind this 'creation' has some interesting* ideas. However, 'Twoface', one of his previous creations, isn't altogether too bad. I couldn't even contemplate owning it, but hats off for originality. He 'rat -lukked' this thing years back as well - waaay before chavs were trying to make their Audi A3 plastic bumpers look rusty.

I couldn't care less what these folk do to their cars. At least that's what I thought I thought, but then I saw this and it made my blood, piss and poo poo boil:

I mean, what sort of fucking idiot puts a roof rack on a pick up? Really? I actually can't believe my actual eyes, I am in an actual rage about this, I am so incredibly angry I can't stop tutting.

This is the first sign of the end of human kind. This is the exact point where we start to grow fins and head back into the water.

What's next, empty camper vans towing caravans?

But but but but that's a Skoda Felicia.

I reckon the'll get him this time. Groped Allegro.

We had a roofrack on the HiJet pickup at work,  bloody handy for roping the ladders to.  If anyones got a Suzuki Carry one in the garage I'm interested for the new work pickup.

Because it's a car, it's their car, and they're not hurting anyone.

DVLA'd DLT's Aggro - it's listed as red, date of liability 1981 - so that was a scrap car.

I agree to an extent, but the ebat tat thread is full of fairly clean Jettas, Passats, Audi 100's etc that you just know are going to get ruined then scrapped

but they're Volkswagens and Audis and if the world has less of them, then it is a better place.

IMHO last decent VW made - the Mk2 Golf, last decent Audi - the 100 Avant.

Scrap the lot and leave the world full of interesting old cars!

And they will all be saved by a caring autoshiter???? Get real, 99% will go to scrap once they stop moving or fail MOT. So why not let the youngsters play with them and have fun?

There's a shitload of people on here who think they're better than everybody else. Don't even ask about the Facebook page either! I bet there are far fewer of this type of person in the so-called scene movement(s), they probably know that they are ridiculed. Although I still think it looks pretty gash all the same.

I always wondered what happened to that Allegro. I saw it at Wellington Country Park once. I even struggled to find a decent pic on google.

I dislike the idea of doing anything *just* to fit in with the crowd, especially when the modifications are to my eyes, pointless and look crap. But it's human nature to enjoy positive comments from those around you (it helps my motivation no end) so can easily see why people can get caught up in it. And if it doesn't affect me, then who am I to judge?

I guess you could argue that all this car stuff is essentially pointless and futile anyway, in the grand scheme of things. But hey, it makes my time on this earth more enjoyable so I'm going to continue tinkering with and using old, non-mainstream vehicles. Despite the general population probably viewing me in the same way that we view those into a 'scene'...

Their car, their choice.

Some of it looks dumb but they are (presumably) having fun

Is anyone else getting excited over the lamp-post in the DLT picture, or just me?

People with fast cars mod them to go faster.

Good handling cars are treated to expensive tyres and shockabsorbers.

Pretty cars are polished.

What can you do to a crap VW? Make it crappier!

I think It is a sort of ironic comment on the state of modern Volkswagens. The VW brand is still strong and still benefiting from the reputation VW made ages ago with their then genuinely different cars.

But what they have sold for the last quarter century are genuinely dissapointing cars. Some of the remaining fans of the VW brand are working out their frustrations via the rituals and fashions of their VW "scene"

The lamppost is, admittedly, more interesting than car enthusiasts slagging off car enthusiasts.

I have discovered model repo evidence of early scene twatage, though in war time Germany, pineapples were scarce so they had to paint a palm tree on the car instead.

Based on the model price, scene tax was in evidence from the very beginning though.

If they used VW Beetles it's no wonder they lost the bloody war. By the time they got them started we'd already reached Berlin

I can see what they were going for, but they're running too high an offset. Especially on the front.

Also, lawl at the Landsail tyres.
