Glad to hear you're coming, Trig - you put so much into the site, too.

... so much twaddle.  ;-)

I reckon I'll brave a night in the Rover, you can't get velour beds in hotels. Unless anyone wants a lift in which case I'll reconsider.

Posted

Dont expect I will either .

Im well up for some drinking games etc when we are there . What about you guys?

Anyone ever played circle of death?

Posted

Never, but sounds interesting? 'I have never' is one of my favourites.

Posted

I've been having a bit if a clear out, we've only got a small house and a new baby has meant space getting tighter than ever. I've thinned out my magazines quite a bit over the last few years, but the rest are coming with me to shitefest and are free to you lot. Mainly classic and sportscar, and practical classics. I seem to have accumulated a few Haynes too, so take your pic basically!

Posted

I'll have a tent. I'm too much of a mingebag to get a hotel room and I doubt all 6 foot of me will fit in a Lancia Y10 in a horizontal state.

Posted

If I can borrow a tent I'll probably be camping. Neither of the cars I'm thinking of bringing are anywhere near big enough to sleep in.

Posted

I'll have a tent as well as sleeping in a saloon is rubbish. Dunno whether sleeping in a tent will be better right enough.

Posted

I'm 90 percent gonna be in a tent. Saab is too short to sleep in. Although it does have a towbar so if I can find a shite caravan I might bring one.

Posted

If you sell the Saab there it would be an interesting journey home.

Hello is that the RAC?  My car seems to have evaporated, can you tow my caravan home?  What do you mean no.......

...£55 with a breakfast isn't bad really...

Fifty five pounds is nearly another car!

Anyone know if the hotel will do breakfast for the assorted waifs and strays with stiff backs and hangovers?

No, sod you lot.

Will the nice hotel cook ME a breakfast?

I thought breakfast for the campers* was going to be a joint affair by the sounds of it, square sausage from the Scotoshite community, and other ingredients from the rest of us ... I was planning on bringing Lincolnshire sausages and some eggs from my sisters chickens.... or maybe some sausage meat to make in to patties ;)

I've been a bit 50/50 about this as it's a long way from Ipswich, 260 miles in fact but I'm gutted I missed last years one that I'm not going to miss this.

Just booked a room at the hotel for the Saturday night, £55 with a breakfast isn't bad really, better than sleeping in a freezing cold tent or car.

Who else is staying at the hotel?.

trig im going the ipswich transport thing so youre coming wales or else :P

Posted

Really? Don't blame me if you go home disappointed! It's a bloody long way for a few hours.

I'm planning to ask the hotel to do breakfast on Saturday morning, while Sunday morning will hopefully be the 'cultural cuisine' event. The hotel does reasonably priced food of an evening too (between £8.95 and about £15 for a main) and as they're not charging us for the use of the field, it'd be nice to support them.

Drinking sounds fine for those that like that sort of thing, but I'd like to keep behaviour within respectable limits - not an issue at previous Shitefests but I'd rather there wasn't any 'lairy' behaviour. I don't want to upset my community...

I'm probably just being overly paranoid. Previous Shitefests have demonstrated that we seem to be a pretty sensible bunch. I'm not saying "everyone must be in bed by 10pm, and sober," just that it isn't necessary to make a LOT of noise to have fun.

Trig - with your booking, the hotel has three Autoshiters on its books I think. Rooms are filling up though and there aren't many rooms left if folk are that way inclined. There aren't any other hotels within walking distance. (nearest is 4 miles)

I think that's fair enough - I'd be a tad nervous about organising an event on my doorstep, especially if I was attending. I do enjoy letting my hair down, but I've no problem being told to calm it down a little if it's in danger of pissing anybody else off. There's a chance I'll be bringing SWMBO, in which case I'll be a lot more restrained!

Posted

I see where you are coming from dw. I'm a real worrier when I organise things involving other people so I promise to be a respectful drunk.

Posted

DW, I was brought up, not a million miles from you and from what I remember about living in Wales and the drinking, fighting, shagging each other's wives behaviour of these communities, a few mild mannered Autoshitists partaking in a couple of half's of Banks' is unlikely to upset them.

And that's without the behaviour displayed in that Police documentary Hinterland !

Posted

Oh yes. The hotel is nicer than it appears in Hinterland! We will be camped fairly near the garden featured in the first episode.

I'm sure folk will be fine. No reason to expect folk not to be, but I'd like to ensure y'all know beforehand.
