The Saab will more than make up for it.

Gaffa tape is structural . Who knew?

Very late SFQ - but how does a well educated, middle class chap

such as myself pronounce a word like but not specifically,

exactly the same as Cymru?

Thanks in anticipatzioni

I've been pronouncing as Cum-roo which I suspect is totally wrong and more than likely something from a specialist web site.

I believe it is  something like "kym - ree"

More Cum-ree if you'll pardon the expression. The event is at the Hafod hotel, pronounced Hav-od. Araf (Slow) is pronounced Arav. Takes some getting used to! Ieacyd Da is Cheers! Pronounced yacky da (or something close to that). I haven't yet learnt what the Welsh is for 'my hopeless old shite is broken.' A challenge for that weekend perhaps.

The first syllable is pronouned "c'm" - the letter y is basically just a filler, it sounds like 'err' but isn't really drawn out that long.

The letter u doesn't have an equivalent in English, and takes a bit of practice to get right - think of a really disgusted "eurgghh" then push your tongue forward and make it more guttural. Oh, and roll the letter r.

If you think it's totally stupid and pointless, just remember they were talking like that when the English were still speaking French ;-)

Yacky dah!

I can hardly yacking wait

Dah?

Am I fucking welsh or yacky what?

Around here, the U is definitely pronounced closer to i. Alun is pronounced Alin. If people really want to learn new words, we can visit Pontrhydfendigaid and Ysbyty Ystwyth.

One more quick note - there may well be lambs on the mountain road from Rhayader (there are at least 20 different ways to pronounce that town) so keep your eyes open for suicidal bundles of fluff.

?... so keep your eyes open for suicidal bundles of barbecue fun...

Marinade a go go.

I think there's due to be a sizeable south west contingent, we'll have to try and arrive together in a glorious procession.

The tow ropes should keep you in convoy.

Rubber duck  :-)

Damn. Going to have to come on friday night now.

So, off to buy a longer vehicle so that I can sleep indaback ala mis-spent youth.

Watch this space.

Ydy'r hen sheit anobeithiol yn toredig. (Pronounced something like 'udd-ear hane shite anno-by-theol unn tor-red-dig'.) Warning - rusty school Welsh, may contain poor grammar.

It's probably completely different in North Wales, of course - most likely involving the phrase 'horseless carriage'.

Here in mid-Wales, they seem to speak a mixture of North, South and English.

Posted

In Rhyl and Gronant it will be spoken with a Scouse accent.

Looking forwards to it hugely...trailer hire booked, proper wheel straps bought - better pull my finger out and get on with the welding then!

Posted

I'm looking forward to this even more now as I won't have to go tenting.

RESULT.

Yes, but which side? I reckon driver's side...

Mr Cat is correct with the o/s although its only 50/50 i suppose

Yay! You can tell as the rear is angled towards the centre of the car slightly. What do I win, an anorak?

This is sadder than my wildest dreams

Would be even sadder if someone could identify the door mirror to the right of the headlamp.

Thats the handle of my chair you pillock. Your autoshite shite recognition points are hereby withdrawn.

^^Thank you.

I just took a mouthful of coffee, read that and snorted the coffee out my nose right in my lap.
