Anyone flogging a mini classic auto?

Hi all

Not content with the constant, enervating battle to keep the rust and general BL malaise at bay on my 1983 Range Rover, I'm looking to double my trouble and buy a mini classic - oh and it's got to be auto, because that's all the sodding au pair drives......

Anyone looking to offload one, let me know; moderate amounts of cash grudgingly parted with for the right car!

Thanks

Peter

Just for the sake of clarity, are you seeking a BL Mini with an auto box, or just a 'small classic car' with an auto box? If the former, expect the au pair to be frequently late for work!

Any pics of the au pair?

Tried typing ' Au pair in classic mini ' into Google.

It didn't really help*

I googled 'mini classic' and it came up with pictures of the late '90s model Rover Mini, with the sportspack arches etc. Now that I think of it, I really don't see many of those late Minis any more...

Hey guys

Thanks for all the responses/welcomes!

Photos of Rangie to follow when not on the devil's iPad.

Yes, looking for an Austin/Morris/BL/Rover mini and, yes, I know it's going to be a world of reliability hurt but I don't know that I have the emotional strength to spunk a oner on yet another disposable Pug 106/VW Polo/Nissan Micra/Vauxhall Corsa

For those who asked, here's a photo of the old contemptible

I still have a Mk1 mini bonnet in the loft, I really need to get it down and ebay it ( but its under a ton of Rockwool insulation now and can I really be arsed?)

Love the Range Rover. They look best on steels or those 5 spokey Rostyle looking wheels.

Looks a capable thing.

That Range Rover looks minty !

Glad to see one that has escaped the raised suspension, massive tyres, chequerplate and ONELIVELIFEIT stickers that most classic Rangies seem to have acquired over the years.

bought one!

a 1993 Sprite

Not the nicest available but definitely the cheapest.

And, so, the cycle of pain begins.....

I had a 1983 Sprite limited edition - twas possibly the most fun I had with my trousers on at 19

I can't believe that someone finds a classic mini auto and 2 weeks later someone comes along wanting a classic mini auto and its all a coincidence?

Thats what I thought sounded odd.

Apparently just a coincidence.

My folks drove a Mini auto for donkeys, tons of character but horrendously slow, prone to rust, and dangerous compared to more recent cars. In a head on knock the engine comes through the dash and lands on your lap, and the doors/side are wafer thin. You'll be lucky to find a good one, and good one's now cost. A replacement auto box is £500 or more to supply and fit, and it'll need welding every year. They are now very much turning in to a classic car, and I'd only be tempted by a restored 60s or very very late cooper. Anything else would be a liability, especially without a garage in which case you'll be able to watch rust developing on a daily basis with all the water traps on it. Also, avoid at all costs ancient clubman autos with hydrolastic suspension, horrendous. Been there, done it. For the price of a bad minis annual mot/service get a Micra K11 or K11c auto. It has a great 1 litre auto box, doesn't rust, and drives nicer. Basically a nicer more modern mini auto, I know because my folks got two after the minis, and whilst the butt of many jokes was half decent in terms of reliability and costs.
