Welcome to Wilko’s mega* fleet clear-out.

This sale of low-mileage chod is so BIG* that we’ve hired Ken Morley – aka Coronation Street’s Reg Holdsworth – to be the face of this thread.

Thanks Ken.

Right, let’s start off with this epic, which was once memorably described by Autoshite member RoadworkUK as having "a shady character with ‘specialist’ sexual interests on A Touch Of Frost written all over itâ€Â. What more could you want?

TEH FACTS

LDV 200 series

1995 / N-registration - but was only registered in 2001 (I think due to being ex-MOD). One of the last 200s before the model was replaced by the more modern Pilot, so still lots of old BL switchgear, door handles, etc.

Minibus variant with 12 seats (including driver). The 200 series is rare in this guise - TRY FINDIN ANUTHA  1 M8

2000cc diesel with 5-speed manual delivering ULTIM8 POWAR*

Very reliable (seriously)

Approx 83,000 miles

MOT until August 2014

Four excellent and practically new Good Year tyres

Great dealer stickers

Runs well and is mechanically sound.

The following advisories were identified at the recent MOT test:

·         Nearside front brake pipe slightly corroded

·         Offside front brake pipe slightly corroded

·         Rear (all on rear axle) brake pipe slightly corroded

·         Offside front (inner face) brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened

So, in other words, it’s all cool as long as you’re not too bothered about brakes.

Work carried out in the last couple of thousand miles includes:

·         New front wheel bearing

·         4 x new glow plugs fitted

·         New battery

·         New shock absorber

·         New windscreen wiper blades

·         New windscreen washer pump

·         2 x new door mirrors (one new, one second-hand)

The bodywork is not exactly perfect but for, for an 18-year-old Sherpa, it’s pretty good. The bodywork has recently been tidied up to a good standard and it now looks much more presentable than it did. While the back doors are fine for now, if I was keeping this for years to come, I’d probably have my eye out for a couple of replacements. It also has a little bit of a multi-coloured roof on the top, but you can’t really see that unless you stand on a stepladder.

Inside is ok. Driving comfort accessories include a digital clock and, perhaps surprisingly, adjustable intermittent windscreen wipers. The radio is disconnected but supplied (I’ve no idea whether or not it works). All seat belts work.

As indisputably shite as this vehicle is in just about every way, I cannot put into words how much I LOVE driving it and will be very sorry to part with it. Sadly, circumstances dictate.

OK, on to unmissable deal number 2.

TEH FACTS

  •

  • Peugeot 306 'Miami'

  • 1997 R-reg

  • 1360cc petrol engine - for safe* overtaking

  • 5-speed manual gearbox

  • Approx 63,000 miles

  • MOT until April 2014

  • Lots of service history.

It has an electric sunroof (which works) but keep fit windows and is otherwise pretty basic spec (no central locking, no rev counter). It does come complete with a flash after-market JVC radio / CD player though.

I'm not much of a mechanic but it seems to my amateur assessment to be mechanically ok. Has a small oil leak but nothing that occasional topping up can't deal with. At the last MOT the following advisories were listed:

  •

  • Offside rear shock absorber has slight corrosion to the casing

  • Offside rear brake hose has slight corrosion to ferrules

  • Front brake discs rusty inner side

I fitted a new battery (with a four-year guarantee) in February. In April, it had a new oxygen sensor fitted.

Although it looks presentable from a distance, the bodywork is a bit shabby close up, with doors being the worst areas. All would appear to be cosmetic and fairly easy to rectify if required.

In case anyone recalls the randomly clicking indicators problem mentioned on this forum a few months ago, I have now fixed this and they work fine.

That LDV is epic and clearly whoever buys it will soon* find the 11 seats chock full of gorgeous* ladies*. I want but cannot have.

The Peugeot is also nice. My helpfulness knows no limits. Apart from handing over any money. GLTWS!

I've DEFINTLY had some gorgeous* ladies* in there over the years...

Sweet, do the seats (bar drivers) come out of the LDV? I've got my eye on certain 'PC World' with a big plate glass window.

Good luck with the sales as they usually abbreviate on other sites.

The dash on the MGB minibus is so miserably minimalist as to be amazingly marvellous!

The nine seats in the back can be removed, LS. I've never done it but I'm led to believe it's a fairly straightforward job (if you've got somewhere to store all the seats!) When there were a few more of these on the road, you'd often see ones with just the back row removed to create a bit of luggage space.

Ken's back, looking in his crystal ball and predicting that one of you really wants to buy one of these top quality motors.

Don't make him cross.

Can I trouble you with a quick question please Mr Wilko?

If the back two rows of seats were removed, leaving 6 seats, what would be the approximate dimensions of the resulting load bay area at the back?

Thanks :)

With the two back rows removed, the area you would have would be approximately:

6ft 6ins (length) x 4ft 11ins (width) x 4ft 3ins (height).

Hope that helps!

Aha, so potentially it's a six seater with enough space to camp in the back? Excellent... that's actually better than I expected.

I'm not very flush at the moment but this one's very tempting. I'll have a jolly good root around down the back of the sofa and get back to you.

The lack of interest in these vehicles has caused Reg to go a bit crazy and start experimenting with gender.

Buy now before anything else happens. You know what these Coronation Street actors can be like (nudge nudge, wink wink)...

I have been agonising over that Sherpa, cos I would really really really really love to pootle around in a little van like that. However today I found out how much tax I owe this year, and it's a lot more than I expected. The bastards are going to clean me out so no van for me :(

I hope it finds a good home soon so that I can be consumed with jealousy.

Sorry to hear that Mr L.

If it's any consolation, some of the best people have had run-ins with the Inland Revenue...

The Peugeot was sold tonight - I was fortunate enough to list it on eBay and have somebody bid on it who actually wasn't a COMPLETE MESSING TOSSER. So thanks to them.

In the next stage of the slowest fleet clearout of evar, the Sherpa shag wagon will be going on eBay soon. So last chance to make me an offer and be king of the road...

double-discount.jpg

Owing to a surprising* and unfathomable* lack of interest, coupled with a mounting need for cash, I am pleased to announce a TOTAL PRICE MELTDOWN on the LDV 200, with a special Autoshiters' discount bringing this down to £975 with an amazing 0 years interest free credit.

Before you think about that, just take another look at this BEAST and consider how much better it looks than the comparatively pathetic Mercedes Sprinter in the background.

You know you deserve to give yourself an early Christmas present - and what better than the thrill of LDV ownership to get those festive baubles tingling?

You know where I am.

CAN I just SAY that the WAY THAT the girl OUT of the SCS advert REALLY gets on my NERVES the way she SPEAKS.

Do you offer buy now pay later? Will you go bankrupt just before Christmas before I have taken delivery of the goods? Will I get to appear on Watchdog?

Let's face it, you still would though...

Is it wrong to like that LDV?

Posted

I remember a slightly larger LDV which was my primary school minibus back in the late 90s when I was in primary school in Cornwall.  It was supposed to be red, but was incredibly faded.  The parents took it in turns to drive! Probably scrapped soon after though, as it was knackered even then....

In the unlikely event that you find yourself lusting after a battered Xantia and a 2-ton box trailer, I'll happily swap  8)

Well, it wasn't what I had planned, but I'm open to efforts to tempt me!
