My annual French bike hunt isn't going so well this year as so far this is the only thing I have been able to do a deal on.

attachicon.gifbima.jpg

At least it is cheap and will fit in the caravan to bring it home. I just need to find a couple more and it might pay for my trip.

I'd love a Velosolex - how much do they go for over there?

No flap, definitely.

The Velosolex with the engine on the front wheel are really gutless. I had one a few years ago and it could barely drag itself along on the flat, I wouldn't pay much more than 150 euro for a project. This year I am really struggling to find anything at a sensible price though. What would you pay for one and I will see if I can find anything worth bringing back.

Well if there is anything running, sub 250 euro that would be nice.

I just think it would be a giggle pootling to the town and back on one.

Either that or a running lightweight ped.

That Pug looks interesting - what the hell is that big lever for?

These are like the solex 6000 and have a drive wheel that pushes against the rear tyre I think and the lever is to engage it. This one is under 200 euro and probably not too far out of my way to pick it up. I expect it will need a recommision though,

There are plenty of honda xl's and a few little peugeot ex millitary 80cc bikes. There are also plenty of DT's I doubt I have enough room to bring any back though as they are a little bit too big to fit in the van. This 1978 Honda XL 125 is 650 euro.

Oooh, now thats quite tempting.

Remember it will need uk registration which will mean an mot and 55 quid fee. It would also need a dating cert so they can get expensive which is why I tend to leave the registration to the lucky buyer when I sell these bikes on. When I sold my uk reg one I only got about 200 quid for it so might be better to try and find a uk bike if you want it for the road. I will ask about this one to see if it wants much work to get it going but it isn't really one I would buy to sell on unless I can get it a lot cheaper

Fair enough  - well see how you get on asking about it - most UK stuff seems to be £400 and north at the moment ( though summer weather & shows tax I suppose).

Hmm tell me about the prices on DTs could be tempted.

I actually meant more trials competition (like kickstart on the TV) they tend to be quite slimline once the handlebars are off and foot pegs are zip tied up.

There is this.

450 euro from a dealer so he might deliver to the uk. On this trip I can only get light bikes in the caravan, a 125 trial type would be a pain in the arse getting it through the door.

I nearly bought a Pullman but it had the wrong rear wheel and I couldn't get a decent deal on it. I am still looking for a starlette and will get one sooner or later. Prices are firming up now with not so many bargains to be had, I might have to increase my budget if I do find one.

I too would like a Starlette-extremely cool looking things. Ashamed to say the Monet I bought ages ago is still sitting in my garage untouched apart from an occasional wipe over with a WD40 dampened rag-but the tyres have remained inflated.

Was going to say this in answer to your question on Velosolex values! From what I've seen at a few local shows (car/bike/steam rally), about £400 is as much as they get to. I saw one last year up for £550 - yes, it was very nice but no-one was biting and several of the other 'peds he was selling had 'Sold' labels on by the pm.

Not a 'ped guy but liked a Peugeot 103 he had for some reason.

Oi oi shipmates...what have we here? A lesser spotted Teaser 250! By golly. Just saying a few pages back how I hadn't seen one in yonks, and there it is.

What else should I say I haven't seen in ages...? See if the Gods of Shite humour my feeble mumblings.

Anyone in the mood for a Monkey Bike ?

Copy of a Honda Z50J - Ive replaced the rear light and Ive got indicators and a side panel on order - runs - rides - enormous shits & giggles.

There is a certificate of conformity in case you fancy trying to road register it.

142 miles and 110cc engine (4T)

£275 and Im making a tiny profit - £260 and I break even. Located in Preston

Px considered.

That seems really cheap! Mind the Jailing ones used to retail for about £900 otr

Register it you know you want to commute on it;)

CBX750F rear brake hose now replaced, brake bled & working properly.

Also oil & filter change done.

There's nothing left to do but ride it now :-)

Anyone want a one piece suit?

It came with the CBR I picked up yesterday but it's too small for me.

Size is UK46, I think it would fit someone around 5'6" to 5'8".

No idea on price really, 50 quid or so? Can anyone give me a hint on how much these things go for?8306bde79806bfeb38bd649192beab81.jpg

In related news, here is my new basket case CBR.

Seems to be pretty much all there except exhaust and seat. Tank and plastics are all in decent nick and should be OK to use, the colours are a 90s-tastic black/purple/florescent yellow which really floats my boat.

Everything else is in need of strip/clean/paint, the frame has quite a few areas of rust. I think it's been a track bike, the rough frame but good plastics would suggest this, also it's not been MOTd since before computers, and the front tyre is a scrubbed almost bald Pilot Power 2CT.

Overall I'm happy with it given the price I paid. Coming to a road near you approx summer 2020.

Anyone going to Bikefest South at Goodwood tomorrow?  Weather looks good but £20 entry seems a bit steep for a fairly standard sounding show.

Dave_Q-I have a totally unused Baglux seat, in an equally track suit design, for a 1998 CBR600 FX/Y. Bought it thinking it would go on my 1997 FW, but Honda completely changed the rear subframe. The FX seat is removed with a key, whereas the FW seat has to be unbolted. Let me know if this is any used to you.

Oooops.....

I have done a bad thing ...

Just found a load of Morini owners club magazines "Tutto Gas" from about 20 years ago if you want them. Interesting reading for an owner!!!
