And as you guys did so well on the front caliper, anyone recognise the rear?

Jumping in to the parts recognition appeal, does anyone recognise this caliper from another bike, please?

The above bike is a 2003 Derbi Senda GPR replica. The later bikes were based on an Aprillia RS50, but I think the calipers are different.

Thank you.

After posting the above I've found one on eBay now (sorry) but the one you've linked could be worth it as it's brand new so would save some arsing about with an old one.

Is there a bikeshite eBay tat thread ? Where does one look for that nice BMW I missed out on last month?

Went to buy a cheap 600 bandit motor

Arrived and promptly got offered a deal on a complete MK1 600 bandit and everything except the frame for a MK2 600 bandit.

Having the breaking strain of a kit kat when offered a cheap bike

Now have a fixer upper bandit and an entire bike as spares

Yet again the caddy swallowed bike and spares

After having the FS1 tuned, I think it's been heat/soft seizing which is a bit shit.

Having ignored it for a while (it's in the naughty corner in storage) I've ended up buying this today...

It's a 43mm Athena kit. They get quite good reviews, and he threw in a couple of jets to try with it.

Genuinely thinking about test riding one of these when they come out. Looks a great little go anywhere bike but I would have to assess the quality. Give it two years and these will be a bargain as well I bet.

Hasn't someone on here got a CT90 or a CT125?

In other news. My DRZ fell off the work stand and smashed the left side engine cover. Luckily someone had listed one on ebay 20min before I did it. So I have that to look forward to changing now. I have got the benefit of a rainbow patio now though.

Is that the 65 kit? I had one on my 87 FS1, Overall not hugely noticeable power increase but makes a decent difference to holding the speed on hills etc though.

I asked him that, he said it it wasn't a 65 kit as such, but 'around 59cc. In its current tuned guise, it pulls brilliantly from sort of 30 to 40  n third, with a bit more poke than usual in the very brief 1st gear, and second. Top end never got any better, I'd been hoping for a reliable 50mph where it wouldn't be flat out.

Two or three people (in the know, or supposedly) said the Allspeed would be holding it back, and to get a 'proper' aftermarket pipe (there's one fella who builds them to your level f tuning) or put a standard pipe back on.  I suppose I could put the Allspeed on the other FS1, but I love the look and the sound of it and hardly ride that bike.

What a cracking looking bike this is too, liquid cooled, 13hp, six-speed gearbox,  oh to be 17, again... Could be a 125 Ducati Scrambler if that was a thing. I can see a theme here from AJS.

I'd agree on the allspeed, they were never power pipes really, they look and sound great though. Problem is with 2 stroke pipes most of the mass market ones in the day (micron, allspeed etc) were designed just to stick on and they didnt want loads of complaints of bikes blowing up, so they didnt really do much for making top end power, they were tuned 'safe' was what i was always told.

Now Nikkon F2 or similar if you can still find one, they do make power

That makes sense now.

It's a fella called Mick Abbey that makes the pipes that he tunes to the bike, but there's another maker about to enter the market I'm told.  Subject to reviews/prices I'll look into getting one.

I dont know which 2 stroke tuners are still about, Stan Stephens has retired, Not sure if Bob Farnham is still going. Taymar used to be good as well, think they still exist, but the 2 guys I'd want to do my 2 strokes these days are either Mick Abbey, who's very good and well respected or Martin Johnson who makes expansion pipes as well. (google MJ pipes)

I had an ex proddy race bike 350 YPVS F2 back in the early 2000's that was Taymar tuned, it absolutely flew, as the guy in the 325i on the A14 found out one day, but you had to have balls of steel to ride it through the 120 weave, those were the days 🤣🤣

13hp is pretty average at best and for £200 more you can get a bsa Bantam 350

But agree it's nice looking

Never had a street tracker/scramber but its definitely a style that I would really enjoy the ride of.

13bhp is good for a cheap chinese four stroke. The Benelli TNT I had was only around 11 and that was good.

AJS have done a few decent looking bikes like cafe racers over the recent few years.

I remember Stan Stephens, or at least his name, well. He was incredibly popular, and known for good work.

Wasn't there another at the time, too. Terry Beckett or something like that?

Walter Kaaden

Lol

Walter Kaaden is a bit specialist and did amazing work, beat the japanese to the expansion chamber principle, until Ernst Degner ruined it all by defecting. Its a shame he got that pressure backwave knowledge from making V1 flying bombs during the war is all.

Yes Beckett rings a bell infact. No knowledge of his work though.

Stan Stephens was so good he retired, then came back due to demand when 2 strokes became popular again, then retired properly at a fairly good old age about a couple of years ago i think.

A friend has a pair of his pipes on a GT250, they tuck in nice under the bike for good ground clearance. Not been dyno'd yet but seems to go well, l think he did the porting too.

My 350LC had Allspeeds, l seem to remember they gave low to mid gains and Microns more top end, each sacrificing a bit of power at the opposite end. Was 40 years ago though.

Allspeeds are the best early pipes to have on an LC. When my dad had Microns fitted he couldn't get it to consistently run right. Higgspeed look very popular now though. No Fizzy pipes though unless they are expanding.

I remember seeing a kid on an SS50 with a Fizzy Micron pipe early 80's!

My FS1 (restricted) definitely went a bit better when I put the Allspeed on, this was before it was tuned, though.

It showed a speedo reading of 50mph (no doubt nowhere near that in reality) down hill, which it'd never done before. Eventually, and weirdly, though it just gradually slowed down to just over 40mph, which it had always done.

Sounds like you are on the money with the heat seizures if it just slowed down like that, usually that means the re-bore was a little tight for the piston, which any tuner worth his salt shouldnt really get wrong.

Okay, Glenn... How does 14.7hp grab you, that powerful enough for you?  😎

Lacking in the style department for me, 80s muscle bikes are what floats my boat

Have a fixer upper Yamaha ybr125 for my daughter, made in china using old technology. Until very recently the small bikes had no development for decades

Even now the new engines seem to only be developed to pass emissions requirements , yes the European market requires power restrictions, but not other countries so why no 30 bhp 125 for other markets?
