I like, I like very much…

I've been eyeing those as well,.but I just don't need a bike with more than 100bhp, and I don't fit it as well as I might.

I'm seriously considering trading in the 2023 SV for a CB650R, for the extra 20bhp and the engine is a gem - and I fit it really nicely. But the SV650 is just such a fun bike, so nimble and also has a gem of an engine.... The CB feels a bit fat in comparison, but is a terrific bike too.

That's odd! Honda's usually had that strange ability to fit everyone. Always wondered how they did it. I really hate those short seat units with the long extensions for the plate holder. Lose underseat space too. Honda seem to be really putting the pressure on with their pricing though, which can only be a good thing.

It was the same on the 750 Hornet - My legs felt cramped.

You compare the measurements of it to the SV650, which I feel very comfortable on, and it makes no sense, but I just don't fit either Hornet. But I do the CB650R. Odd is right.

And I'm not even (that much of) a funny shape.

I was surprised I do fit the 1000, usually I’m too tall for naked bikes. My K3 SV650S was a great little bike but my legs always felt a bit cramped and I was putting far too much weight on my wrists along with arms almost bent 90deg. The CB1000 feels as comfortable as I wish my old SV was.

Probably my eyesight, but that CBR looks quite a lot like a later Aprilia RS125.

And because I can,

see my new green leaning weapon (weapon may* not be the correct word) now with added new tyres, fork rebuild with all new bushes and new stantions. Bit more to do yet,  but it’s getting there

Had one exactly like that as my first road legal powered two wheeler. A friend at the time was very very very annoyed it was faster than his standard AR50

It feels pokey off the line  very pokey with only one brake and a driveway with two cars on it 😂

Benelli was mentioned a few pages ago, well this happened a few weeks ago. The recently, a year or so, introduced TRK 702 the big brother of the TRK 502. Same frame and dimensions from what I gather but 698cc instead of 500(ish), 70hp, 70Nm, good reviews on YT so I thought I'd take a punt.

It's Sept '24 registered with 28 miles on the clock and not from a Benelli dealer! It was traded against a Honda as the older rider found it too heavy, they're about 225-230kg from what I gather. New they are £6700 OTR and I paid £5750 which I thought was fine.

Some good stuff on it, Benelli branded (J.Juan or ByBre maybe) dual radial brakes up front, braided brake lines, Pirelli Angel GT tyres, Nice TFT screen, full metal luggage, handguards, good rear hugger with rubber flaps covering the shock which you can't see at all from the back. This is the 702 and there is also a 702X with spoked wheels, 19 inch on the front, mine is 17. Also has semi knobblies and a more adjustable shock, £500 more I think.

Weather been shite and salt down but I'll let you know how it is on it's first run, whenever that may be.

This video gives a good overview of the 502 v 702 in the X version;

I read somewhere and have no need to doubt it that the engine is based on the ER-6f motor. This looks likely as the ER-6f uses an 83mm bore as does the 702, the stroke of the Kawa is 60mm and the Benelli gets it's extra cubes from a longer stroke at 64.5mm.

I assumed the 502 would use a sleeved down block and shorter stroke but interestingly it actually has a longer stroke at 66.8mm with a bore of 69mm. I'm guessing they went this route to help the torque lower down to suit the bike's purpose better.

Who are we all favouring for cheapo classic bike (50cc) insurance. Probably about 500 miles a year at most as I just want a go on it before I flog it.

I have found Hagerty to be understanding and cheap about such things.

A Simson Schwalbe, absolutely brilliant. How did you get hold of that?

I don't think they were officially imported as I remember writing to Wilf Green in Sheffield for a brochure for one, they replied, politely, that they didn't import them but they sent me a load of goodies anyhow. I was a rabid MZ fan at the time and a Schlwalbe would have been a fun additon.

Following on from that bitchin two stroke above to the other end of the spectrum. I got this today from Telford Classic dirt bike show.

Tidy little bike really with just the odd scuff on the plastics. Wanted one for ages. @Rustybulletholeyou have one don't you?

Nice. The excitement if a motorcycle at the speed of a bicycle. Mines a Melody, same engine. Just got a reminder to tax it today as it happens. My pal has a white Vision pictured here sporting as it turned out very handy fuel bowser.

I had it shipped over from Hungary via the IFA contact about 5 years ago and then got busy so it languished at the back of the garage.

I moved the uk house a year or so ago and decided enough was enough so it bought a few bits and decided I would push to get it registered after waiting an eternity for a dating cert and failing the first time I joined the IFA club for a second time and several months later I got a dating cert.

Then DVLA assigned the wrong plate and here we are. Hoping the new, new v5 lands next week and I can get the thing insured, ridden and possibly sold on. A lot changes in 5 years, we bought and moved countries (on paper at least) and had grandkids, so priorities and time got thin on the ground.

Found out my tradex policy will cover up to 150cc as part of the deal so they may live another year yet.
