Update on the run for a ton winter hack Aprilia... I had my first FTP (on the drive, thankfully) when the electric start gave up the ghost. I'd already binned the kickstart and associated ironmongery, as it was fucked when I got the scooter, so alternative transportation (a Honda, natch) was pressed into service.

One second-hand bendix gear later (£10) and it's back!

Wanted: biking mojo.

How do you get yours?

I think this is the first year I haven't ridden a bike in twenty odd years :(

Sounds like a lot of projects... when they reach critical mass that's when I get disheartened too.

Maybe thin the fleet out by flogging a couple as winter projects? Then use the proceeds to finance a return to the road for one of the others while the weather is too crappy to ride anyway.

I set myself deadlines to try and spur me into finishing them, I then get disheartened and say "ah, fuck it"

I'm thinking of getting the blade on the road for Jan 14th to meet up with a mate in that there london... unlikely to happen

The zx10r is booked for a dyno run to get remapped and see if new engine is super powerful on Jan 17th... unlikely to happen

In September I finally got my VFR back on the road taxed and tested for the first time in 7 years.

Miles covered since?

9

Anyone care to guess how far away the mot station is?

I would be interested in the 9R :)

Been there.

You have to pick ONE bike, get it sorted enough to get it on the road and you'll be grand.

I HAVE to ride most days to get to work (20,000 miles per year) but for several years that was the only mileage did, didn't do any "social or leisure" riding at all. Then I got cajoled by a few mates in riding over to France for a long weekend, and not looked back.

I still do my commute but since that weekend do a further 10k plus social riding, mostly in Europe. I found riding just one bike made me bored of riding, and am lucky enough to be able to afford to own more than one, which I do. I have a large number of bikes, all MOT'd and insured, 4 of which I rotate for the commute (well, 3 at the moment as the Xevo scooter is broken) and only 2 project bikes (a CZ250 and a Monet Goyon, so hardly the most difficult of things to sort out).  Having different bikes I can choose to ride, from a 110cc scooter to a 1200cc Guzzi, means my mojo can be maintained. I really don't care what I ride - if it has two wheels and an engine, I'll ride it.

I just commute on mine at present. Being a tightwad, saving the Dublin M50 toll each way keeps my mojo up even when the weather is incredibly shite.

Suggestion: sack off anything with a Z or R in it and get a thumper. Singles are top.

As SA said - best thing to do is decide which one (or two) you want and flog the rest as projects which will free up money to get at least one sorted.
