121

.....I wonder if the roof leaks?

That 121 has been sitting at the Crown Honda / Suzuki dealership for quite a while now. It's stuck there with a few other cars, probably awaiting a service / repair of something.

I found out today that the 2CV-type roof is known as a "Fun Top". Given that the thing's had 27 years of the elements, I wouldn't be surprised if it has sprung a leak or two. The roof evidently doesn't fit properly when fully-closed probably because of years of stretching and contraction.

Come across this Vauxhall Chevette 1.3L today, I thought the last of these were on a Y Plate but clearly not.

^Great spot. That CX appears to be in nice condition. Also what a joy to see the three pointed star ahead of you as you drive. Wish my SLK had such a thing.

Smart, clean Vauxhall Cavalier. I don’t think this design has aged badly at all certainly the best version Opel Vauxhall put out.

Spotting highlights of this week were both Saabs. The 900 Turbo on 162,000 miles at last MOT, and the 99 on 185,000. Testament to the quality of that Saab block.

Houses of Shite

Contents, one Chrysler Neon, one BMW E34, one W126, one LWB Jag. The last two have been off the road for some considerable time. Doesn't get any better than that.

If anything says 90s car mods it’s these alloys.  Possibly only one worst design from that era  - the 3 spoke version!

In a village not to far from home I have seen this pair and today while out on approved activity I took a moment to photograph them. The roads were so quiet I could pause blocking the village road, move up and pause again without a single car needing to pass in either direction.

Using car checker the Omaga CD is a 2.2 Auto and the Rover an 820Si.

The Omaga looks like it is in use and the Rover has cobwebs on it. Both cars have good MOTs and are taxed.

My cars have cobwebs on them and are still in daily use. I've tried hosing the mirrors out but the cobwebs are back the next day so I've given up.

Et tu, Brute? Et tu?

The spiders have clearly worked out how to evade drowning, and are able to rebuild their webs faster than an economy coming out of lockdown.

I went out on the CycleShite at the weekend and captured a cache of early 00's that has been catching my eye. What can be seen from the road is probably less than 15% of what’s there when I spy from Google Earth ?. I was too law abiding to investigate deeper - never seen anyone there to ask. I'll go back in winter once to foliage has died down to see more of what's there.

This next cache I cycled to is massive and probably known about on this forum somewhere? It seems to be exclusively Mercedes and I’ve be told it belongs to a hero called Mercedes Bill, which seems fitting. I think he used to run a business out of it all, but I don’t know what’s going on with it now. Stuff still moves around. I don’t have good photos because, again, I didn’t want to trespass and there was no-one there to talk to. I should be brave one day and go in, especially because I’m running a knacked S123 – he could probably put me out of my misery.

Haven't been doing much spotting due to Covid, but I've spotted some nice stuff when I do go out. For example this nice and tidy Peugeot 504 2000 GL Auto:

This is the complete opposite of shite. A modern Rolls Royce with a 2 digit number plate (and a six figure value).

Okay, Morris Minors don't generate that much interest normally, they are probably the most common car of their era but this is different.

How many are still working for a living? But just look at it. Zoom in and take in all the details. It's perfect.
