Quick question...Do you have a preferred eBay sniping tool, if so, what is it??

Thanks

Sitting with my finger poised over the 'bid now' button , watching the time remaining clock tick down through 10s,9s,8s,7s,6s,5s....FIRE!!!

Usually works so long as I've bid high enough.

I had my ebay account hacked and had nigerians selling stolen toasters off my account . The only other place I'd ever put my ebay password was in a sniping tool. Since then I've not been keen on them.

I use myibidder, mainly because it's free, and has a plugin for firefox. That way I can just click the link on the item page on ebay.

Pretty reliable, it's only failed me once.

Used esnipe for years and didn't have a problem until I had to change my ebay password (because someone used my account to bid on a shit Mancunian telly on New Year's Day).

www.auctionsniper.com

Never used one. How does it work and what happens if my sniping tool goes up against yours?

That's why I don't use them. Also I don't understand why people do, surely you just chuck your best bid in and see what happens, so why the need for sniping?

It's very handy for lobbing in a bid on an item that nobody else is looking at.

As soon as you put your normal bid in it's already flagged up somebody is interested and gets noticed...or at least I view it that way.

Helps reduce shill bidding, from my angle as well.

Thanks chaps. I'm still not fully convinced of the benefits of sniping, but it will at least give me the option of "invisibly" setting maximum bids on a number of similar items at the same time, with the option to cancel all the others when I win one.

I travel quite a lot for work, so I'm not always able to access eBay when an auction reaches the gravy strokes.

by adding a bid at the last minute (or second if sniping) you may avoid the seller bumping it up

you only have to see how many ebay auctions are relisted almost immediately to spot the shill bidders
