plasticvandan Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Original 127 based fiorino, there's the blue one off this forum, and I don't know if any others on the road.my dad had one c.1995,and it was rotten then, but I loved it and promised myself when I was old enough to drive I would have one, that came and they had literally all rotted away.
SEATMad Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 On the FSO topic, I would genuinely be interested to know how many RHD FSO's are actually left here. Every one I ever see is always a LHD import. Don't think I remember ever seeing a RHD FSO around, not even at shows. Changing the subject, does anyone know of any Dacia Denem's are still kicking around? They look pretty extinct now. 1 hour ago, egg said: Well there is one on here. Yeah I do recall someone telling me the guy who owned it was kicking around here once. egg 1
MantaGTE85 Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Fiat Croma, the large Signum-based estate one that sold from 2005 to 2007, a few ended up as taxis in my area but that was at least ten years ago. I've not seen any more since. Has anyone yet mentioned the Seat Terra utility vehicle that was on sale in the early '90s? SEATMad and egg 2

RayMK Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 @SEATMad Why do you think that (Mitsubishi Mirage)? I've had mine since Dec 2017. There are at least 3 locally and one was following me the other day when I was elsewhere. In the USA they sold surprisingly well. Mine has not shown any signs of corrosion yet, unlike the Mitsubishi i that I had from new in 2007. Reliability has been 100% and it's got more useable room inside than most competitors which, for reasons that I can't fathom, outsold it. I would nominate MK 1 leafs for extinction in another 10 years unless someone can re-engine them with an A series or maybe a Peugeot Diesel to make them practical. I quite like their shape. egg 1

Although common now, I can just foresee these suffering high attrition. They also never sold as well as their direct competition such as the Jazz or Yaris and they don't hold much value on the second hand market. Early ones can be snapped up for dirt cheap these days which tells me that the type of people buying them will just simply run them into the ground and scrap once they've died. Most people will hold very little love for it. Give it another 15 odd years and I believe these will be rare sight. Shame really, as I actually really like them. Keep yours in good kick, could end up a unicorn. RayMK 1

I've not noticed particularly low prices at car dealers but the earlier pre facelift Mirages and preceding Colts are definitely cheapies now. SEATMad 1

agent Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 I reckon the Suzuki Swace (and their rav4 rebadge thing for that matter) are a good bet for the SAO Penza of 2050, the Corolla versions might be the single most common thing about nowadays but I've seen 2 total of the suzukis and who the fuck will be keeping the weird poor selling Suzuki rebadge going in 30 years? Those new Mitsubishi blob things that are obvious lazy Renault rebadges with the same Renault headlight styling and all still I can see falling into this category too, though I don't think we're getting those here. Ironically enough one of the only ones I have seen was in the field at FOTU last year, if you were going to have a modern car in the field it's probably the most fitting thing you could find. And of course anything chinese seems like it'll have grenaded the total remaining supply of mechanical components (the ones that aren't using 30 year old GM part bin bits anyway) once it hits 10 years old, The MG6 seems to already be walking the line between shit modern and proper shite.

Also my first new "car" - an L-reg Terra D I ended up PXing my X1/9 for because I'd bought a Manta and couldn't run two sports cars on the company. Should have chucked the Manta. I wanted a Marbella 4x4 with twin sunroofs and that diesel engine - the Terra could crack 70mpg and went like stink if you used the gears properly. MantaGTE85 1

Keep yours in good kick, could end up a unicorn. I kind of agree with this, but not wholly. We have one, first year model. They're lightly built and not very durable, but extremely reliable with no obvious mechanical idiocy, and they built a shitton of them with not much variation so spare parts should be fine for a while. I think they'll drop like flies once hit a certain age, but people who likes them really likes them, so there'll always be a few around in the next 30 years, definitely more than a handful. It won't be like the Subaru Justy, Suzuki Cultus, or even the 80's Mirage right now.
