The bickle does it again - superb!
Any more photos of your new purchase?

Wow, utterly amazing!

(I really hope someone else comes along and asks what it is since I don't want to look stupid but I haven't the faintest....)

Edit - cheers Sigmund. I missed that  entirely, being not a word I associated with any make of car at all. I'm off to learn facts from Wikipedia.

It was purchased by the vendor as a route to a Taunus, and was just a by product he wants shot of.

Its the Wartie engine (I'm kinda familiar with those!) on Barkas rims -so I've a spare set of them (since Fregates share the PCD!)

Other pics seem to show its broadly solid- although the seller is a little vague -but I think he's young & out of his depth.

Usual stuff, no brakes, engines' free, gearbox? who knows. If its like the Wartie -it'll need suspension joints & balljoints, but not much else.

Its in Ypres so we're aiming an overnight A framing trip. Cant see anything going wrong ,really

No idea. Hope I don't have to find out!

Fab. Love the styling, somewhere between pretty and awkard.

Brief update time:

This has recently been added to the fleet (ex SG -thanks, mate)

Knowing it to be engineless, we organised this across from Germany:-

Thanks Dave. Sadly ,I now think I was duped ,as this is too small, probably from a 965, instead. We've decided to adapt/amend to make it fit, with a view to legalising then swopping out at a later date.

Hand in hand with  this:-

which is essentially complete (I'm told -not seen it yet). I've bought the parts I'm told are missing, so this too will go on the road, prob with a view to mild modding.

Then there's this:-

low mileage, one owner, off road since he died 2 years back. And no, its not Italian.

Others: Syrena is still awaiting collection. Owner getting a little shirty.

The Renault 7 looks like its going by the board. Sadly, I cant see me getting to Spain in the near future (or at all) so am investigating couriers.

Wartburg is nearing roadworthiness. Awaiting a couple of suspension bits, then its ready to go.

Negative Creeps old Yugo313  has had its first outing, when severe clutch slip & appalling front brakes were discovered (despite being overhauled). Investigations needed, but the gloss blue paint all over the discs prob doesn't help.(Bless -he didn't know!)

The white Fregate is out, legal  & ready to go, & we hope to pull the Prairie out this autumn.

Phase1 25 has been pushed back -when we damaged the fuel injector pipes removing the whole lot to get at the distributor cap! Madness.

The Pintara's recent wheel bolt shearings have been rectified, Musso returned to the road, both Fiat Coupes readied for winter, late 25 in regular use as dog transport, Barkas roadlegal, U11, ready to go ( my first drives will prob be autos). SE6 sitting patiently, with the big Gaz.

The Mk1 Ibiza & Regata are both being honed regularly by the kids, and the 850 is still snagging. Water leak issues....

Both Datsun 411's are here, needing minor rectification before winter.

My green Strada is being prepped for winter use, along with a Fuego,

They'll be others I've forgotten -but you get the picture!

Hey Nigel, I passed your place a few weeks ago when we were on hols on the south coast. A bit of a WTF moment as we drove past but I soon realised I was outside mecca.

I did knock a few times but only had a conversation with your dog unfortunately, at least I saw the Isuzu!

OMG Seat Ronda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You got it.

Lets hope its as good as it looks.

Current intention is to pop across to Caen as a foot passenger, pick this up & get it running (unused 2 years) which is proving a sticking point with the owner- as he' s insisting its trailered; then pop across to Granville (70 miles the wrong way..) collect the 204 van & a frame it home.

What could possibly go wrong?

Hope to take you up on that sometime. It's a friend of my mums place so hopefully we can stay there again. :)

Hope the hospital thing wasn't too serious.

*edit* just seen the thing about accidental overdose and your legs not working properly?  Hope the legs are fixable?

Is the Rhonda related to the Strada in anyway they look quite similiar?

Never seen an actual Ronda on the road before, did they import these officially into the UK?  Smart looking car anyway, it's aged well!

They did, but sold here as a Malaga 5dr. I think they sold 0

They are indeed Strada/Ritmo based, as was the Mk1 Ibiza (hence the Ibiza's odd overhangs)

The redesign came, I believe to distance Seat from Fiat when they fell out of bed. Hence why the Marbella got a facelift too.

Loving the look of that Ronda.  Those seats look proper comfy.  Should zip along OK with a 1.5 too - I assume it's the engine out of a Ritmo 85 rather than the "System Porsche" Ibiza engine?

Posted

I don't suppose you will be anywhere near beaulieu tomorrow Nigel as I have a fregate gearbox and some other stuff that needs a new home. Not bothered about anything for it just a good home as it is cluttering up my unit now.

Posted

I haven't sufficient vocabulary to express how I feel about this update, but I feel positively about it and your continued chod-wrangling.

Posted

'System Porsche' engine in these. I was sorely tempted by that myself!!! What a honey.

Posted

Hats of to you for sure,Rhonda not  on strada copy in euro legal shock! no system porsche in those bad boys ,i think!

Posted

Sadly I've no idea what the engine is - vendor has no clue either, but I've a 'System Porsche' 1.5 in mu Mk1 Ibiza, so holds no real fears.

PH -I'd love the Fregate stuff but cant drive yet -my legs don't work. I really wanted to go -but cant. I could ride the scooter -but I really doubt I could fit it on. Hope to be convalescing in Cornwall soon -I'll pop by then.

The 505 is/was a story in itself. Nearly sorted, I decided to A frame it home, from store, for an MOT. Sadly 2 miles up the road the back wheel fell off (and disappeared. The now square rear drum was chiselled off, a spare alloy fitted using nuts form other wheels ,and I turned back to the barn. Except it kept undoing.. I had to stop every 500 yards to retighten the nuts- getting back much later. A full strip 'seemed' to indicate a warped halfshaft /axle (-strange as I had A framed it south 200 miles). Pushed into a corner -then my health failed.  Still hunting a replacement axle -but prices are way too high.

Brilliant stuff, Nigel. How many motors are you up to now?
