Dare I mention....Top Gear....?

It's about time they put my other half in that Kia. 1 35 00. While having a smoke. And talking on the hands-free.

Certainly not the best of the series. I enjoyed May and the Bugatti, that bit was very good.

I hate Tom Cruise though. He annoys me. He is a twat

The Senna stuff was so so but it doesn't really interest me, as I'd rather have a really long piss than watch Formula 1.

Senna was a humourless automaton

I loved how he spoke about himself as 'designed' - I wasn't designed to come second or third etc...

Star in ....Car is the most boring bit for me. I'm not usually interested in listening to some over rich luvvie - the "celebrity" thing generally makes me wince. I thought the Diaz/Cruise session last night was doubly awful. At least they didn't have Jonathan Ross on - he was shown in the TV listings. I'm going to have to leave the room if/when he's next on.

(EDIT I did like former Geordie frontman and current AC/DC warbler Brian Johnson though)

Hear hear!

I also feel at times they could easily cut the budget (recent TV licensing news) and just keep James May as the sole presenter

Clarkson could be brought in now and again for comedy factor.

Star in a wanky car is the worse bit for me as well, I normally start to drift off and do other things whilst that's on, It's often people I've never even heard off or even have any remote interest in anyway.

Xenophobes that we are, we all forget that these guys are not using their mother tongue in interviews.............These guys are hired guns, and as such they're paid to deliver, whatever it takes. James Hunt was just a playboy who happened to be able to drive extremely quickly. Senna [and his ilk] are profesisonal drivers, the rewards of which bring a playboy lifestyle.

Obviously TC and CD would have been on Jonathon Ross, had it still been on, so it was probably partly to do with promoting their new movie that they came on.....

They were entertaining for sure, but JC is such a kissarse it makes me want to be sick. The Senna bit was great, I never actually saw any of the races he was in but I did have an amazing video Murray Walker made a few years back which had loads of highlights from that era... great stuff. I didnt know he stopped on the track to help Comas too, thats quite brave to stop in the middle of a track.

What's all the fuss about Cameron Diaz? I've boffed much better looking birds than her. Then again, I've seen Clarkson's missus so I can't really blame him for getting excited.

Was an okay episode, same as all of them. Veyron bit was good though - 267mph is a fair old whack.

Using Hirst Candy is cheating :P I wouldn't boot her out of bed....

I still enjoy top gear, it's better than watching yet more crappy soaps!

I can't believe that Tom Cruise was featured and people are wasting the phrase "humourless automaton" on somebody else.

I heard something about a conspiracy theory on the radio today so it sounds like you're not the only one who isn't convinced.

I think his lines through the last two corners (as shown at least) were pretty rapid. He was right on the edge coming off the runway, nearly loosing it on the grass before the two wheeled antics on the last corner. It might be that they used that camera angle because he cut the corner quite a lot (or just because it gave a better view of the two wheeling). It was said that he does a lot of his own stunts etc. I imagine he has had a lot of professional driving training.

Would Top Gear care about upsetting him? They needn't have given him over a second quicker than Diaz. The interview was over by the time the times were given.

Yes, bits of TG are "made up" or planned but I don't see the need for conspiracy theories all the time.

Also worth remembering that they do many laps, with one timed. Doesn't mean all of the footage you see necessarily belongs to that lap does it? I'm sure the Stiggy laps are made up of sections - they need to be for camera angles.

DW, I was thinking the same! TC seemed slightly suprised by it, as if he wasnt expecting it? I dont enjoy TG as much as I used to but its still good telly. Shame there is no epic journey episodes this series.

I can believe that Tom Cruise, being a humourless automaton, would put everything into getting a good time. It's pretty early in the Cee'd's career too isn't it? There can't be many times to beat.

{cynic mode on} I dare say they teach them "slightly surprised" at acting school {cynic mode off}

This is Tom Cruise, not Bob DeNiro you're talking about.

He only has two modes;

"On box"

"Off box"

Am I the only one who noticed Cruise hanging off the edge of the couch trying to appear tall next to Diaz... and how close to the camera he is in the car..

Just watched it on iplayer, and thoroughly enjoyed it! Have to say, I rather enjoyed Cameron and Tom - she's gorgeous (imo) and JC is right about the effect of girls who can drive and know about cars! As for Tom, anyone who ownes and flies a P51 is ok by me!! 8)

Bet it feels like 40mph in a Reliant Rebel

Well, ok, Hamster's play in the ice was a little tedious

Surely that wasn't actually Hammond driving for most of that piece?? You'd need to be a professional at that kind of thing to throw that car around on snow/ice like that.

I dunno, isn't he mega into his off-roading stuff?

Just thinking about it, I might write a letter of complaint to the beeb about featuring Tom Cruise, as a Scientologist he repulses me and really shouldn't be getting any exposure whatsoever.... disgusting bastards that they are. Even an idiot like Clarkson must be able to figure out that him being a homophobic nutcase far outweighs him being a (rubbish) actor, and that it's far from an 'honor' to have him on your show...

Posted

Remember that similar Bowler Wildcat feature, and the Hammond statement - 'I AM A DRIVING GOD!'

Also, I used to really like 'My name is Earl' but it was tarnished for me when I found out both Jason Lee & Ethan Suplee are Scientologists...

I saw a 'screenshot' of Tom Cruise on Top Gear and noticed he was wearing 1 inch heels, and also his shoes looked very tall (ie more padding inside the shoe). LOL. Agree about Scientology, what a complete load of kack.

It is also believed by many Atheists that god is proven to not exist, by the fact that Tom Cruise is somehow allowed to continue living. They are correct.

Balls. That's 'My name is Earl' ruined for me. Mind you, I always found it a little disturbing how much I fancied the blonde...(she looked better in Marilyn Manson's Tainted Love video...)
