Clamps, you say?  G or spring?

G clamps, was sure I had some small (2 or 3 inch) ones somewhere but evidently not where I thought.

Nice MK2. Clean ones are snatched up on eBay so that's a good one to rediscover

I was sure you or someone else on here had said that recently, knew I'd had one but didn't realise it was still knocking about.

How many would you like? :)  I have a boxful!

I found a long dead Leyland FG husk behind an industrial estate yesterday.  My son goes to an indoor skatepark there and I said to my wife I was just nipping out to get our flask of soup from the car. I couldn't resist a nose round the back where there appeared to be some kind of scrap yard and it was there I found the old truck.

So today I gave in and purchased one of those 1:43 Scale Sava-BMC FGs from ebay. It was really cheap at £15 posted and I get it tomorrow.

Unless they're Superkings or old Corgis, I normally don't like trucks between scales of 1/76 ish or 1/24. The former gives a nice evocation of the vehicle and nothing more, the latter gives every possible detail. In between therefore always seems kind of lost between these two states.

However the FG is my all time favourite truck so I'll make an exception.. They were very popular in Scotland and of course they were made there from 1961 and exclusively so from 1963 and up until the early 1980s. I couldn't find out online how the Sava ones came to Spain,  I'm thinking it would be CKD.

I already have 2 1/76 scale models, a lovely resin item from Hong Kong Model co and another Base Toys one (as they were named then). I'm quite excited about this one, moreover as I have barely bought any diecast this year. I can't think of any others apart from 2 Cavaliers, a Sierra and a few Hotwheels.

I only have one new arrival today, the Kidco/Dinky 57 Chevy

Not long ago, I nabbed this Minichamps Astra H,  complete with fancy dealer promotional packaging for £not a lot. As a Vauxhall apologist, I was happy with this as its a cracking model and it filled a modern-Astra gap in the collection.

But I still wanted a model of the GTC (the fancy 3 door coupé/hatch), trouble is in 1/43, you're restricted to Minichamps really, and the majority that come up are the dealer edition OPC (Opel) or VXR (Vauxhall) branded items in the sought after Arden blue, which go for £££££££.

But today, something arrived.

IMG_20211025_220014.thumb.jpg.16ef94666ef899488870c13d0c59cea3.jpg

"Who's down with OPC?"

IMG_20211025_215944.thumb.jpg.ac48309f363311975c37489c213527ba.jpg

"Yeah, you know me!"

IMG_20211025_220238.thumb.jpg.51ee04fec1028de2b6f8e531f17d2ed8.jpg

A LHD, Opel OPC badged version, rather than the UK VXR one I'd have liked, but beggars can't be choosers. And as can be seen above, the cardboard outer sleeve is absolutely mullered. But for about 1/5 of the price the dealer edition ones go for, and in the rare Star Silver, I'm happy.

IMG_20211025_220539.thumb.jpg.3210434d499aab82a8745203cb64b444.jpg

Luckily, the car is absolutely mint, (it seems it's been on display in the acrylic case for some years, with the outer sleeve kept in a damp attic or something. Don't even think the tea towel/iron treatment would save it). One of the best looking cars of recent years I reckon, the GTC and it's captured well here.

IMG_20211025_220623.thumb.jpg.940e5078f695d774c519a9ee26025855.jpg

Good detail on the front end, particularly the headlights and grilles.

IMG_20211025_221954.thumb.jpg.aa5b65dde3704b16af5118a9fb925839.jpg

Ditto the rear end.

IMG_20211025_220915.thumb.jpg.32b522b766de831339aee2f8c0e9bdd6.jpg

Just like on it's bigger brother, the Minichamps Vectra C OPC that I also have, the alloy wheels are fantastic, along with vented discs and blue calipers.

IMG_20211025_221637.thumb.jpg.f67931cda6cd6b96b4855cb8c737b430.jpg

IMG_20211025_221533.thumb.jpg.44aa2a095170b6562ffe18c9a4837795.jpg

As usual with Minichamps the interior detail is lovely, with the usual sat nav screen they normally do on top of the range cars. The seats are the usual sporty Vauxhall 'Darth Vader' type and look great but I couldn't get a pic through the narrow windows...

Yup, it's the MB194 'Modified Racer' - introduced in 1988, withdrawn from the mainline range in 1993, and saw a few later uses in gift sets until 1995,

Quick bump before eBay. How do you do multi quotes? I've had to copy and paste after the first quote. Also, what's the best way to search for your previous posts as I've had to go through each page 😬

Remember the RC Golf? I’ve recently got around to spray it with primer but I’m not happy with it so will lightly sand it and do it again.

You click the + button next to the quote one for all the posts you want to quote

Searching is easier on pc but you can search by user (i.e. you)

1988 Chevrolet Corvette C4. It's my first Johnny Lightning model. Originally bought for my nephew but decided I liked it. Sorry kiddo. He'll get a few Hotwheels instead. Anyway, not bad but the ride height is way off.

If they're not already lost to the Great Unwashed on the Bay of E, would the (Tesco?) boxed Corgi Sierra pace car and the yellow Matchbox CX, blue Corgi Metro and whichever one of the red Corgi Novas has more paint still be available, please and thank you?

Went down a bit of a rabbit hole looking for something else. Not seen these that I know of, but apparently some Hot Wheels monster trucks come with a proper crushed car, rather than the rubber thing you normally get. I think these would look great detailed as scrapyard cars

I haven't worked on a custom diecast since the Lupo at the start of September, really struggling to get back into it now I have a few hours spare. Everything I touch seems to go wrong!

Got loads of good ideas but can't seem to get things to work how I want 😐

Best thing to do is perhaps sling the hook, get it out of your mind and pop that poxy thing in that box heading this way.  Out of sight out of mind. Look into my eyes, etc

Besides, I would do it in the proper Carabo GREEN
