I remembered another local charity shop on Sunday that I hadn't been in for a while. Nosing through the window revealed a tantalising glimpse of some die casts in a tub. Popped back today;

Even the offer of viewing the boxed ones hidden in the store room wasn't enough to tempt me. But the 50p box turned up a few orphans

I keep hoping a Racing Mini will turn up in a lot, the custom I did doesn't have very good glazing. I think I have three spares and it's cracked or missing in all of them

Does anyone know where Zylmex were sold?.I don't really remember seeing them when I was growing up,same as Yatming & Playart.Maybe it was a period when I was more interested in other things 😂

I had this set as a kid.

All I know is that my granny got me them and that, despite this probably being in my most reckless phase of toy car ownership when I was about 3 or 4, they have unbelievably all survived in good condition.

There are quite a few of them about, made by various manufacturers. Most just say Hong Kong, Zee ones have the name inside

I think they may have been sold mainly in '50p Shops', as they were known to me - cheap discount stores, and often repackaged by an importer.

I mean, this one says 'Tuf Toys', but the Kenworth cab, wheels and trailer look very similar to the ones in the Zee/Zylmex catalogue.

Dunno if in this part of the world we just rarely saw the names Playart, Yatming or Zylmex by themselves - kind of the way Maisto/MC Toys were branded Edocar for a while in Europe, as that was the importer's branding?

I don't remember seeing them in shops as a kid, but they did seem to be sold in their original packaging. I've tracked a few down with different style cards and boxes

The exception being these two branded Fast Lane - 100% Zylmex cars

Went into a weird “ Re-use Centre” which seems a cross between a junk shop and charity shop but in an old warehouse , anyway picked these up.  There was a lot of Days Gone By etc, also lots of FX4 Taxi models in various scales- all boxed if anyone wants me to go back. 
There was also a Matchbox Rover Sterling in its box and a Superkings 944 , again boxed for a Fiver each . I can pop back in at the weekend if anyone’s interested.

Just doing the weekly shop in Tescos and picked these up, Mr Bean Mini with roof chair and bear. Think I timed it right as I recon the Bean Mini is going to be a scalper magnet. 

They also had these in.

Ah, good stuff - yet to see any of the latest UK Collection long card stuff, but that S2 Land Rover looks tasty. Will be keeping a beady eye out next time I'm in Tesco...

Thought I should check Tesco - no Minis of course but I picked up this Lotus

Hot Wheels were nearly all gone but this was on a clip strip. I don't often buy generics but this reminds me of a 70s concept car

Another Corgi lot just arrived

Bought mainly for the Rockets Bizzarrinni Manta as it has a different base to the one I already have.The transporter is a bonus,I can never have too many.The Jag will probably get sold to banger racing modellers 😂

I had a post person bring me presents too - a couple of early Lesneys

And this - I've seen the Max Wax Corgi Beetle pop up a few times and usually they get bid up. I presume this was a promotional or giveaway, it's the same casting as the 70s version
