Now might also be a good time for a long overdue update of small shite purchases.

I added this 1:24 Bburago S-Class to a couple of other buys from a seller, as it was only a couple of quid. Seen here in its down-at-heel stage of life.

 

So arty.

 

Another which sticks in my mind was a random lot of stuff which was dirt cheap - around £2.50, including postage, from memory. Much has not been recorded from it yet but it included these:

Majorette R18 taxi,  minus the taxi sign. From memory, I think these may have been sold as a tow car to a caravan in a 2 piece set as well, with the taxi sign being replaced by one of those roof top towing spoilers, the likes of which I've not seen in about 30 years. Shite fact: I had a mint one of these which I sold back in 2010, to I think @Lord Sterling.

 

Continuing the Majorette theme is this Saviem truck, obfuscated somewhat to draw the eye away from the fact that a non-British marketed commercial vehicle is making its way about the Yorkshire Dales. Sincere apologies for the faux pas.

 

Getting a wee bit modern for me, although I'm coming to accept these mid-90's Siku castings and as such, this is now my 3rd such example - all bizarrely are wagons. Seen here seeing out its days in the forgotten corner of an Eastern European dirt road car park, beside a block of flats.

Where it had been to the mines. Presumably, the bright paint job is a boon for not getting crushed by the heavy stuff.

 

It's a nice casting and I'm very happy to have it, although I'm more of a fan of the later Superfast casting in gold, with the removable axles. I had one of those as a young'un and made use of that feature, for scrap yard scenes. Should still have that one, along with a green one on regular wheels, so it'll be nice to have the three all together some time in the distant future.

King Size Jag, the subject of some recent discussion, which will be repainted blue.  Also, my first Matchbox 1959 Dodge!  Indeed the first I've actually seen.  Thank you both!

So these are the most recent additions to the Projects Box: one from ebay (A40 van) and the rest from various Shiters.  As you can see, work has not started yet.  The Anglia van is the only one for which I don't have a plan, I know in my head what the others are going to look like.

Now... I mentioned upthread that I had lined up some of my 1/43s to make a classic-car show.  Well here's the AS area...

I know they don't represent many Shiters' actual vehicles but I felt these were most in-spirit.  Almost all are from the variable-quality Century of Cars collection.

Elsewhere on the showfield:

A mix of Vanguards, Atlas, James Bond Collection, and other sources.  The field itself is an old sweatshirt that was my work uniform in 2006-7.

I've taken the liberty of uploading a larger res copy here, should anyone have shares in Stork and wish to make a copy. Beware though, the ingredients list is pretty substantial.

 

You'll need to be a Corgi and Matchbox enthusiast though to emulate this scene.

I think it's safe to say that this wasn't originally a 21st century publication.

 

Those are diabetes-inducing levels of buttercream right there! I used to have a white model of the rolamatics model on the right - anyone know what model it is?

I also have arrivals. Deciding that the chance of finding the new Flying Customs in a shop was approximately nil, I ordered one from Modelmatic

As I was over at the sorting office collecting it, I popped into Sainsbury's and found this

There was also a solitary Premium, but just the card as some little oik had pinched the car. Interesting to know  they sell them, Sainsbury's is normally pretty crap for toy cars. I think I got the best one in the set

Their website shows the Car Culture premium vehicles but the one I saw wasn't from this set

Me and my brother had the burago merc - his was silver, I had a blue one.

Oddly one of the wheels fell off which was most un burago like.

The matchbox landrover needs the newcastle docks as a background like in Get Carter.

Body is die cast and by Saico, approx 1:30. Just for the hell of it.

Bit heavy around the bends but the daft wide Fandago’d track helps there.  A bit.

...as young daughter is a Harry Potter nutcase. No driver fitted to this one as it flies itself without, apparently

Have a slimmer set of wheels and shorter axles somewhere for this now, to fit the original hub caps to as well.  Must find the time

Saico also do this smart enough Police Car variation.  All are cheap and found in Toy Master etc.  

You can see the hub caps I was on about now. Looking again, they are way too big

Not converted this one yet, probably never will. But if it does go that way, it will be probably named Dixon of Dogging Green

Not yet; I mean, I do like haggis quite a lot, but even a seasoned yellow-sticker skinflint like myself takes pause at a use-by date of 6th Feb and a 'keep refrigerated' instruction which may or may not have been heeded by Royal Mail... I've a feeling the birds in the garden are gonna love it, though!
