Cor - that DS Mille Pattes must be a right monster at 1/18 scale. One of the most bonkers cars I've ever seen and hence absolutely wonderful. Pricey, but probably worth every penny.

Even has the tyre testing rig fitted to the underside. Nice.

Speaking of larger scale stuff, I noticed these in TK Maxx yesterday - dubbers may wish to check out their local branches.

20200814_114717.thumb.jpg.0d7ab1ab36bf0f0d339713fa1fe58ec9.jpg

Splittie crew cabs in a choice of finishes looked nicely done; £15 each.

20200814_114731.thumb.jpg.c85bb644b36e7bec4d51602d265cea45.jpg

Beetle and GTO also quite well rendered, for a reasonable price.

Lastly, a sign of the changing times?

Are T1s and T2s are now so valuable that they've been priced out of Junior Dubbers' toyboxes, just like the real thing?

Other than the rocket launchers and stuff, this was quite a decent-looking rendering of the T3 with camper style roof. Just watch out for the speed bumps, kiddo...

That last one's quite cool, factory fitted dirt stains on the roof too?

Staying with a VW bus theme, this early Siku is quite a rarity

Still Siku and VW, Passat estate

The Siku estate you love to hate

Another estate - Zylmex Datsun

Finally a Corgi Porsche Carrera 6 that despite having a hard life, is 100% complete

Yes please: anything American in the Bond section, such as the Ford station wagons (I spotted the white one) and the Chevy copcars (but with their roof lights please!) and in the Atlas police cars, anything foreign (but I think they might all be Brits...), plus Marina, Princess, Transit.  I'm not expecting results immediately!

No worries; will see what future market days bring!

Annoying how rough they were, though - I was a bit tempted by the Viva HB panda car, until I noticed this pustule on the door:

I mean, I know Vauxhalls of this era just love to rot, but that's a detail I could do without...

The Lada Riva might have also persuaded me to dig for my wallet, but again a nasty scratch to the roof cooled my ardour.

20200814_114544.thumb.jpg.f3e1e0199ecf5acc3fba57bb37f91b3a.jpg

I dunno what's happened to these over time, but it's not been good...

Could anyone tell me 'owt about these tiny cars, found in the bottom of my kid's lego box (from the '80s)

It just reads  1987  GALOOB   China  underneath.

Two Corvettes, a Bronco and a something.

I am not normally into models but these have found a place on the shed window sill.

Crikey, unless I'm having weird blackouts and posting on my old Club Polo account with no later recollection, I'd have to say not guilty... interesting that the box is coming apart in the same way, though!

Will keep an eye out! Think that one was sound, give or take a door mirror or so... the wide track was mildly off-putting, but I bet you could sort that in a jiffy.

Original Micro Machines is what they are - late 80s on, and massively popular with a huge ad campaign - "Micro Machines come in collections of five!"

Think you may have three Corvettes (50s, 60s, 80s?) and a military spec Bronco?

I had hundreds of the buggers; think they're all with @Bren these days...

Corgi Ferrari Daytona 365 in 1/36

White one is new in box! Had it a while

Green one recent purchase and has a smashed front lense

20200814_183248168_iOS.thumb.jpg.4672ffa21cc792ff36f485d753e37014.jpg

Quite a tidy model.

20200814_183302474_iOS.thumb.jpg.5cde2bd3230268b2b38fea3afce2c59e.jpg

It's a shame they didn't go one step further and use something other than the generic wheels

20200814_183313905_iOS.thumb.jpg.c6d79908a953a4613e8ea7c94404003c.jpg

I don't think Matchbox or Dinky had this model covered?  Why?

20200814_183330729_iOS.thumb.jpg.c2c065b055d33f3bc06f108b97f6414d.jpg

Green one available for swaps

Ideal* candidate to paint in Patrick Motors livery

I keep seeing those but Ferraris don't really excite me. Those two look in really nice shape though

I nearly chucked this in the orphan box the other day, then realised I don't have the skinny Superfast version. Not a spec of the original green to be found anywhere, repaint required. Dags intact

Ooh, nice find. Corgi's first 1/36 model of a road car, too - stylish and significant.

My eldest has them. Despite being 15 and growing away from toys he still likes them. The new ones look pish.

From the dusty rafters of the Sheffield Cortina Centre as recently discussed the 89-90 Mobil give aways set of 12 vehicles & leaflet, also in the same box from the same time a set of micro machines, plus a 93 hotwheels ford gift set.

Did Corgi ever do the Daytona as a road car? It’s a lovely model.

Two other yellows, also a blue and a red.  The latter two the most subtle but still sticker bombed

Nor me, but if you squint a bit, you can see a Rover SD1 2-door coupe, with dodgy housing estate stickers, breaking down just outside Caister

A misty Friday morning dawning here on the emerald(ish) isle... and the market's now opening at 8am, which is much handier.

Market Blokey was here on time...

20200814_083142.thumb.jpg.6b7b989eb62f23d627380b58a33a34b7.jpg

...and today's wares:

20200814_083739.thumb.jpg.ba6f9ca69f76b772f46dfddf30ee6f17.jpg

Ah, Bond partworks, Atlas police partworks (based on Vanguards castings?) and a smattering of touring cars, plant machinery and some other stuff.

Initially, my eyebrows went up... but a closer look revealed that these have led a hard life - most are damaged to a greater or lesser extent, with missing wingmirrors and wipers, snapped-off blue lights, scuffs and bubbling to the paintwork... plus their acrylic cases have gone awol.

20200814_083716.thumb.jpg.e9fbe5b322655651771dc9d0e95f973c.jpg

20200814_083653.thumb.jpg.f1fbc15cccea07ab43f6a0aa36fa3fd1.jpg

20200814_081320.thumb.jpg.bbe2aee652d120e5768626b9baff2a62.jpg

Something like the Bel Air patrol car could be refinished as a civvy version, it's true, but I doubt I'd ever manage to do much with it.

The Bond collection has riled me for years due to being nearly very good... but odd stances,  questionable finishes and fake 'damage' has always dissuaded me from putting my hand in my pocket.

This Merc 450 SEL appealed, but then I noticed the casting had been made to simulate front end damage... so it won't display all that well. Dammit.

20200814_083610.thumb.jpg.910d146265ce53c817e5324db31749da.jpg

But it's all a question of price... and if they were something like £2 each then I might have filled my boots, regardless.

But, on asking, these are £5 each.

Nah, sorry. Patronising Man over at Smithfield has a metric fucktonne of these Bond partworks, still sealed, for £8 a throw - and the Atlas police partworks aren't exactly scarce.  I don't think they're cheap enough to warrant a punt, given the damage and missing packaging.

I looked around forlornly for a tat box, but none was forthcoming.

Only more Bond-related stuff and some other guff in a box...

20200814_083544.thumb.jpg.65655a09746c7da3024870473702397b.jpg

...and some Atlas Dinky stuff, priced at a tenner a throw.

20200814_083636.thumb.jpg.72e75ae81234a389f3c6032ce0fa47f5.jpg

I hummed, I hawed, I wrung my hands... and walked away.

A quick turn past the other stalls revealed a minor LOL moment - after finally receiving a Superkings Scammell Freight Liner only yesterday, what should the Charity Stall reveal?

20200814_083526.thumb.jpg.3dedb40e3b29cf18d289672a0c22cc02.jpg

Neither are as nice as the one Bunglebus turned up, mind; one has no sliding doors on the rear box and both have very loose cab baseplates.

Charity Blokey advised a fiver for the pair; I had to demur, and even when he dropped to £4 for both, I had to make my excuses. My tat box at home runneth over, and I think another clear-out might be on the cards... He didn't have any other vehicular tat this week, annoyingly.

But, as with the Bond stuff, if you can see yourself with these, I can always pop back round again... but be quick, I'll be shooting off home in 20mins!

A disappointing Tat Friday with no tat box? Hmm, not sure about that but I do spy a few things on the table of interest. If the three I've ringed (Oxford Diecast Parcel Force DAF lorry, Atlas DAF sweeper and Unimog) are still there next time and a fiver or less could you grab 'em for me please? Ta muchly.

Nice one on having MMs in their original packaging which almost never survived, particularly thee City Supers which was an original 1987 release.

I found the sole survivor of my once decently sized childhood collection, a Deluxe Ferrari F40 with the doors opening. I now have a boxed set of one of the first 4 Deluxe Collections that came out in 1988 plus other assorted loose ones from eBay.

I also recently got the Micro but Many book which is a veritable treasure trove of all the different types you could get.

I saw the new ones in Tesco and they are abominable. The original husband and wife team who created the phenomenon would be very disappointed.

I loved Micro Machines, still remember the first ones I got at Debenhams in Colchester about 1987/8. The European collection I think it was called, there was a Silver Shadow, an MG TF but I don't recall what the other three were. Fuck knows where they went.

The Silver Shadow was the best one of all, I've still to find one at a reasonable price.

The pre 1993 releases are more caricatures of the cars they represent whereas new releases after that were more accurately proportioned. My brother had some MMs (which I now have) and they say 1994 under the base and this evolution can clearly be seen. I much prefer the earlier ones, especially from the first 2 years of production.
