Check the pot soil.  You might be lucky.  If it was @Datsuncog, he’d find a rare Husky part and keep it 30 years, just in case ? and one day, it would save the day ?

Cheers. I thought I still had the majority of my childhood diecast models, but the more I read this thread, the more I keep on spotting models which have disappeared at some point...

Main thing I want the vanguard MK4 Cortina for is the rhd dash for my ixo Mk5 crayford build.

Finished the Ford yesterday, although I didn't particularly enjoy the process ad the finished result probably reflects that:

Makes for a good companion to the recently completed Chevelle, but look at the terrible panel fit! I don't think the bodyshell is sitting down on the floorpan as much as it should be, but it's as far as I could get it.

I don't think I'd have been in the right frame of mind to do fiddly work on the Maserati or Corvette after that......

So I did some straightforward but satisfying prep and painting on the Toyota instead, rather more in my comfort zone. Coffee and caramel interior scheme probably not 100% authentic for an Ipsum/Picnic, but it's similar to what I have on the LS400.

Y'know, it's funny you should say that...

...on Saturday I was moving a substantial amount of old soil, which used to be the weed-choked lawn at the back, into 1-tonne bags for lifting...

I fumbled one spadeful, and hit the side of the bag with it. When I was sweeping up after, I found this...

20200713_113726.thumb.jpg.d89262880cce8fa0f5adc807d853896e.jpg

Which fits ok onto this...

20200713_113652.thumb.jpg.fb92790982f8bc847e5deb17d0a99ffe.jpg

I'm nearly sure it's a Matchbox item, albeit from a set of 1/72 model soldiers and accessories rather than from a diecast. But it makes the Majorette Range Rover look a whole heap better!

So yeah, check that pot soil...

I have finished restoring my little Massey Ferguson. Behold!

lH5So8K.jpg?1

iHekrre.jpg?1

bwC1GZ9.jpg?1

The linkage was a bit bent and I was slightly scared about trying to straighten it, this sort of white metal is quite brittle but I managed to get it to bend back enough to fit a test implement, an old disc mower. The farm implements, most of which look ludicrously small on the much larger 80s and later tractors look absolutely perfect on this.

A Massey Ferguson 135 was the first modern* tractor I ever drove , did a few hours turning hay on one when I was 14. Although my favourite part of haymaking was driving the Ford D Series collecting bales, as I was a kid I couldn’t get the bales higher than the first layer so got to drive the coal lorry ( the Coalman owned the fields)  all for 50 p an hour and a few crafty ciders. I remember being in awe of my Dad and Ceredig The  Coal as they chucked bales to each other 15/20 feet up.

Off to look at Britains on eBay.

Found my Matchbox car transporter, so I can do a comparison with the Playmobil one

I hadn't noticed until now that the cars on the Playmobil aren't identical.

The two transporters are almost the same, but at the back especially the copy lets itself down in detail and construction

Having finally secured a Majorette Renault 5, I can do a WDIB? - bet there's a Siku one too but it'll have to wait. Left to right, Matchbox, Majorette, Corgi, Majorette.

Looking at them as two pairs, it's really quite hard to chose between the standard ones and the Turbos. While it's nice to find the mirrors intact on the Majorette and Corgi, they are a bit out of scale and an odd shape, especially on the Turbo Corgi. I do like the 80's "flashback" TURBO script on the Majorette. I think the standard Majorette is the nicest, and gets an accidental bonus point of having appropriate wheels for a three-bolt car

^ Comparison done earlier this year.  Scales work out to be 1:78 and 1:81

So you see, I am devoid of off-side front bumper corners for the first series!  It's looking like I'll have to cut and shut a nearside corner after turning it upside down.

The Solido Renault Fuego.

Quite tidy detail in 1/43

The made a good representation on the rear window detail too, the same window I was told never to break on my old Fuego, as they were unobtainiumed.

Mine was 8 years old at the time, picked up for £250; those were the days.  Even then it was sneered at by the 'car lads' in my town - I vividly remember showing my new £250 purchase off that night, for the only response to be 'but it's a Renault'.  It was deeply unfashionable, even then

The number plate implies it is modelled on a car registered to Département 28

Which is here:

So now you know, the Gendarmerie there did away with emergency roof lights.  Probably.

The Police one I picked up at the car boot Sunday.  Didn't really want it or need it; but thought it might be of interest on here.  Seller wouldn't let it go for less than £2.50.  Well fair enough, it was in Hertfordshire, where houses are £400k for a mid-terrace.  There were a few more 'St Albans families' there than usual, that were clearly not used to being stall traders.

The separate plastic tailgate hatch is static!  That was a surprise...  yet the doors open...

20200713_195935517_iOS.thumb.jpg.7364e512355e933e8dc9a4fdf1468d66.jpg

Just looked at the trade catalogues posted on page 611 of this thread and it's not featured as a variation.  I wonder if it is rarer then?  Is that what the seller knew?

20200713_195926775_iOS.thumb.jpg.b38347bde092d8eb5dfd812e5e0e2931.jpg

I also want to know what the red spot on the roof is about.  I thought it was a sticker applied by a child, especially as it's plain and off-centre.  But no, it's part of the tampo.

20200713_200004583_iOS.thumb.jpg.0fe6ab07c1a52747a31f580744110e50.jpg

So, did L323 JMO exist in real life?

Did the Metropolitan Police really use the Porsche 944 with 924GT Le Mans body kits?

Some deft white paint pen on the chips should make it look smarter as the tampo is saveable and worth keeping on I reckon.

If someone wants it for money back or swappage, it's available.

Don't forget Majorette also did a 5 door 5 as did Guisval. The latter is my favourite and of course the only one that I don't have!

I was going to take it apart, keep the driver - good old farmer Tom with his flat cap - and toss the rest

Farmer Tom escaped and liked the look of the Dinky Super Sprinter Dragster

I think he wanted to be permanently fitted, what with his flat cap and scarf and one-hand-on-the-wheel cool pose.

However, the engine makes a right din.  Farmer Tom is now deaf.

The Hemi engine casting even has the plug leads.  The headers are cast too, I originally assumed they were plastic.  It looks quite bare, but 17 separate pieces made up this model.

Same Sunday car boot, but this time a £1 deal.  Well, it is missing the glazing and driver.  I thought it was missing part of the body too, but it appears not.

Was there a definite time, or did they just randomly swap them around? I have Majorettes of varying ages with both styles.

The rear window on the 3dr Majorette 5 looks bit short to me. I have a slight preference for the Matchbox version.
