Shite in Miniature II

Our @cms206 kindly gave me these yesterday.

I am really delighted with them. I glued the wheel back on the 406 and cleaned it up and it looks absolutely mint. I've wanted this one for a while but the yellow that I usually saw them in put me off. This one looks great in red.

I also love Fox Body Mustangs so am very pleased with this one too.

Picked up this Ambulance from Amishtat today, first job was to give it a good clean

I'm not sure whether I should do a repaint, leave as is, or do a mad custom job.

Please don't paint it!

I had a look around Entertainer, Tesco and Smyths today - all had restocked but all ones we've seen before.

Smyths had a new range of Car Culture out

Gosh I had one of those Buddy L Datsuns with the lights! I might actually still have it.

It had lurid chrome-effect blue paint which has flaked off in places. I think my mum only replaced the batteries once and when they ran out it was just another toy car. If I find it I'm going to try it!

You're welcome to one if you want it, surprised I haven't been asked about supplying one to use as a slot car body yet!

Why not? It doesn't seem spare parts are that easy to find. ?

Begining a massive sort out & slimming down of my diecast collection (more to be added for sale when I get time to sort them out)

Any matchbox or similar?

Posted

@sierraman there will be some matchbox models at some point (might be a little while as I have hundreds of models to sort out, all whilst trying not to think of excuses to keep them).

It wasn't until you showed the circuitry with the bulb on, I realised how large they are.  I assumed they were 1:43 or smaller, so wasn't keen.

Am now, obv.

A white paint pen along the worn extremities will make all the difference

Remember when we had a summer?

One day last week, the Bburago Rolls Royce CAMARGUES popped over to share their rung registration plates.

20200626_140643855_iOS.jpg

All of a hefty 1:22 scale, they dwarf a Dinky Silver Shadow.

20200626_140546614_iOS.jpg

Why three, you ask?  Because of bidding on two lots and accidental winning them both...   However, they look fantastic on the (now reinforced) shelving.

20200626_140610597_iOS.jpg

If Autoshite made Rolls Royces, the Camarque is the 'elitist yet shiteist' one to have?

Gosh, look at the dashboard effort

Anyone else have some diecast Rolls Royce love?  Or is it just moi.  More of the 'collection' may get posted if there is interest.

If I was ever in a position to have a Rolls Royce it would be a Camargue or one of those early two-door Shadows.. Never going to happen but never mind.

Oh I don't know, it's comparable to the awkwardness of the Dinky?   It also popped along to the garden bench party last week too.

20200626_141507757_iOS.jpg

The Bburago Silver Shadow II is stamped 1:24 scale.  However, the length and width dimensions are a bit off, calculating to an average of 1:28

20200626_141513995_iOS.jpg

I think they look a lot better out of the box and there aren't many Shadow II to choose from after all....

Left-hand drive too, for that added shady motor experience.

Not only that, the fuel tank is in chrome!

The Dinky calculates to approx 1:38

Oh boy, Christmas 1988 was the best one I ever had.

I remember writing to Santa for a model Camargue, not knowing if one was available. I wanted a model example as I lusted over the one that appeared in my David Bellamy I Spy car book.

I recall opening it at 4am on Christmas morning and being absolutely ecstatic at how wonderful the model was.

I also remember how quickly parts broke off it. Being the conscientious child that I was however, I saved whichever part came off (wipers, silver lady, door trim inside, grille and bumper and I think a wheel trim too!) and glued them carefully back on with UHU and set the alarm on the WW2 themed LCD handheld game I also got for Christmas for the specified drying time. I still have it today.

Here it is in one of my early You Tube reviews.

I'd love to acquire an early green or bronze one that came on a plinth or even better the executive desk ornament complete with a desk tidy!

It's likely I'll be selling the slightly off-white one with a few small scuffs.  That's after transferring over the radiator grille to the red one missing the Silver Lady.

BUT it could always be a good candidate for a repaint in a colour of choice.

I wondered perhaps as the (in)famous ex-Sammy Davis Jr one, lives (still?) outside in all weathers in the car park of a Cromer old folks home I spotted some years back, alongside a black AM Lagonda no less.  It's also been spotted by other shiteists, can't find photo so have one of @Spottedlaurel's ones

Otherwise...

Just looked it up.  No longer at Cromer.  Shocker.  @wuvvum

Sold at Amelia Island in 2017

Now looking for photos of the original red-over-black.  If it's true that Sinatra gave it to Davis as a gift, it's probably already been done as a model?

Well you're not going to want to learn that ...I had a spare, in red, last month.  Put it up on 'bay thinking £££ will help the bills (it was all complete, bar the door glazing) and got bummed on it badly.  No idea what I did wrong, but top bid was only a fiver!!  Should have kept it for another day.  Told the wife of my despair, but she wasn't really interested and went back to tapping away on her 'phone.

I have to offer a Corniche

48610939943_656bf55326_4k.jpg

That PINK has etched on me since childhood.  Why, oh why, did they do that...?  I'm sure it used to make me twitch and be girliephobic

Wasn't until recently that when gifted an old box of brokens and spares, an odd boot lid was in there and the pink paint gave it way....  also in there was the 'matching' grille/lights combo, but off a Rolls Royce, not Bentley, instead.  So you can guess what happened - blinkered  catch-up nostalgia and the click-button of doom went off to seek them out.  I did not know of the Rolls Royce version of the Mulliner Park Ward two-door one as I had thought for decades that the RR equivalent of the Bentley-T was always a Corniche.   But, I can see that growing-up in the arse-end of Watford didn't really help there.

Anyway, these also turned up at the garden bench meet last week.

20200626_140843745_iOS.jpg

The Bentley-T was a lone and honest purchase; RR Shadow was a bargain as was in with a 'job lot' lazy effort listing

20200626_140858122_iOS.jpg

Nice models, details are pretty good.  If only they didn't have those gash Whizzwheels !

20200626_141008273_iOS.jpg

Tidy interior decal and a metal steering wheel

20200626_141022984_iOS.jpg

Notice how they moved things about to incorporate the RR and B logos

20200626_141055208_iOS.jpg

Scale works out to be 1:42

Went to matalan last night to buy socks n undercrackers, bought this. Great success.

I’d love a Camargue but I’d want one badly resprayed in white over loads of wob in the arches and bits of glass fibre matting. Complete the look with an Irish non dating plate. Sheer class.

I'd love a Bburago Silver Shadow. I passed up a boxed one at a Swapmeet for a tenner about 5 years ago but now they appear to be rare and expensive.

I thought the RR equlivilent of a Bentley coupé was a Corniche not a Silver Shadow. Turns out that's only true from '71 onwards

This one came to me courtesy of DC's Tat Friday about eighteen months ago, all I've done was to remove some silver Humbrol detailing.
