Rented a Ford Contour (Mondeo) from NY and took it up to Quebec. As you do.

It had a Triple Colour Hit : Red body, red seats, red dashboard

The Americans are or were very good at that.  However with the demise of the vinyl roof, the only way to get a "triple" now is on a convertible.  My Princess was as described: black paint, black interior, black vinyl roof.  I'm pretty sure it's the only triple I've owned, and I've had a veritable fleet of Yanks.

I was reading an auction description for a 1970 Dodge Challenger recently (based in the UK) which described it as being in the 'very rare Tripe Black' colour scheme, which amused me for the whole day.

I think the modern take on triple black is to have ones’s whip , “Murdered out”  Black paint, black interior, black tints and black wheels. Very popular in the former Colonies and with a certain demographic of High endSUV buyers ( renters)

The term black on black on black can also mean ; a black whip, black card and black strap, which refers in turn to a black car, an unlimited credit card and a black firearm.
Obvoiusly this sort of thing only applies to Gangsters who might drive Range Rovers or 70’s London mobsters in their XJ6es,American mafia in their Cadillacs or possibly Sicilian gang bosses who would drive Maser....... Oh, wait.

Also this regular wheels Cadillac ambulance - I keep buying these as the glass is often cracked, found a good donor and the glass fell to bits as I was cleaning it

The search continues (and I'll keep an eye out for another Peppervan and all).

I do have a Ruff Trek from the '217 Superstar' set - although it's also a bit ruff.

If I can get decent examples of all three vehicles from each set, I'll probably be happy.

You are going to be envious of me

Because this arrived in post today

.... and this jumped into my hand in a charity shop for 20p

It just had a clean and made ready for a photo shoot with the Holden Ute I’ve owned since I was in short trousers. Cor.

Nice going!

That Dr Pepper set looks pretty minty - and for 20p, you weren't overcharged on the gold Ruff Trek.

You've done well to keep hold of the plastic motorbikes on your red Holden and all - I've a real fondness for a battered purple example which I seem to have had forever, though I'm pretty sure I didn't have from new.

It's another one on my 'mint and boxed' wishlist!

But you all know what day it is...

So, not the nicest of mornings to be up and doing... and only meagre pickings to be found on the Tat Stall this morning, I'm afraid.

20200228_092046.thumb.jpg.ea0f49d8b499be99c722bab33edf37d7.jpg

Hmmm... basically, we're just looking at the dregs of last week, aren't we? Unboxed N-gauge buses/trolleybuses/trams and Oxford Diecast Christmas and Platinum Club releases.

20200228_092115.thumb.jpg.814a7fce507d8993f9121de48eed8706.jpg

That Wiking MAN double-decker's still there, though. Van Hool coach is by Limo Cars of Holland, apparently.

£4 still being asked on these.

Older stuff also more of the same:

20200228_092149.thumb.jpg.d1e048477161125b5a74b7e270e0cbf7.jpg

Few Matchbox regular wheels, the Superkings Dart Dumper (which is quite appealing, in a way), and some older MoYs…

...plus, I note, the milk float attachment for the Corgi Constructor Commer van set last week, the rest of which were sold - daft that someone didn't buy the complete set.

If anyone's interested I might be able to pick it up for cheaps, as it's missing its bottle load.

The Tat Box was back!

2091842387_1940sAudience.jpg.160a224a2395d9ba05353caf98a6152b.jpg

But there was nothing new in it.

20200228_083147.thumb.jpg.da98913f63cbce0568a1e4d3da351c9f.jpg

Demotivate.thumb.jpg.69f0f157f757bdaf5aee7d3f6db95c7b.jpg

There were some boxed Days Gone still hanging around like the proverbial bad smell (£2), and also some old maps of limited utility these days...

20200228_092013.thumb.jpg.a134b69812a75216507869ca7ff4c9ac.jpg

I took a turn round the rest of the market, though not much to grab me: Charity Stall seems to have peaked with the Polistil Polo last week, so there was nowt there.

Alan's Emporium had some wheeled vehicles, but not much to tickle the regulars here, I'd reckon (unless you're like three, and even then...)

20200228_092251.thumb.jpg.a3f33c48b34847e2f0014a95bc542ef7.jpg

He did have a stack of old shiteworthy magazines, though.

20200228_092312.thumb.jpg.958e9fd7a845403ee03be2743422220b.jpg

Giffer Alley had nothing much to surprise and delight either.

So a bit of a damp squib then, to match the damp day - though you can be sure I didn't leave quite empty-handed...

More to follow!

Nothing massive, purchase-wise, but a few loose ends tied up:

Nicely proportioned, despite its evident crude construction. Will set that aside for you!

So irritating that there was no-one attending the stall when I was passing last week, if that Morestone taxi sold for the same money.

However, at least this seems to show that maybe The Giffer Collective is becoming less outrageous in terms of pricing.

Gold Mustang procured, looking none the worse for its prolonged stay in the tat box.

Will throw that in with the others - I now have a box big enough to send your tat haul, so will be getting that on its way this weekend!

And also this well-worn but intact Chevrolet Astro, a long-term Tat Box inmate - any interest to our Yatming fans in the house?

Also grabbed a new Oxford catalogue from the 'proper' model stall - some nice stuff coming through, including 1/72 scale Mk1 and Mk2 Capris, and Mk1 and Mk2 Escort.

I might call back over at lunchtime, just in case anything new has appeared in the interim... maybe I'll dander over to Smithfield and all.

I could quite fancy the VanHool coach at £4 and also the little green Leyland National as long as it’s not too much? Also the green decker behind the National?

Sure thing - last week the N-gauge stuff was priced at £3, but I'll see what he reckons...

20200228_092046.thumb.jpg.ea0f49d8b499be99c722bab33edf37d7.jpg

The green decker behind the National is a Daimler Fleetline, as far as I can recall - will call over at 12 and see if they're still there!

Posted

Nice one...happy at £3 a piece for the n-gauge ones ?

Posted

The Matchbox bedford tipper looks to still have it's tailgate intact.

I'm not interested in it,I have a few, but they are worth picking up.

Posted

He said he was looking a tenner for it last week which seems a bit steep, tailgate or not!

But I'll ask again, as it's quite a nicely proportioned model and I kinda like it...

Heading over again now!

Thanks - and stick the Yat Ming aside if it's not been claimed, I need a test subject for some special paint, that's got the curves to show it off.

Tat man needs to up his game! I thought this time of year lots of people would be having a clear out and flooding the market - maybe the weather is a factor?

Nothing exciting over this way today, but he's there again tomorrow.  @flat4alfa I picked up that Minor for you.

Well, jolly quiet over at the market this lunchtime, with a few traders already packing up their stalls just after 12.

Good news...

20200228_141417.thumb.jpg.7821a1c8696a761cdf697712705e981b.jpg

Even better news - possibly in an effort to secure some sales on a fairly lacklustre day, the buses were all down to £2 each.

Elate.jpg.96a548d5ffba7c6106d7a8cea6770ab6.jpg

So they're all yours for £6 plus postage of choice.

The news may be screaming about the impending twin Armageddons of Coronavirus and Storm Jorge, but it's an ill wind that blows nobody any good...

Bloody hell!!

No wonder it's still there,

£2-3 is plenty for a playworn example.

The TK tipper had gone by the time I got over - so I will assume he dropped his price somewhat. I'd have thought that two or three quid would be about right.

But I did waver on the hearing that the festive version of this Commer KC40 Walk-Thru was also £2 - half price on last week.

20200228_141444.thumb.jpg.fa7f28093312bf5dcf42a1ee44377abd.jpg

I'm not that fussed on the gothic script or Oxford logo on the side, but I'm hoping that a judiciously applied dab of acetone will remove that later.

20200228_141520.thumb.jpg.557e8cf34f69d9ec640e6d14fff8bda2.jpg

I also nabbed this for a mere £2...

Vanguards VA07501, a 1/43 Morris LC5 van in Royal Mail livery.

I don't really need it - but it's jolly nice all the same, in perfect nick and it seemed a pity to leave it. It's a massively heavy, all-diecast bit of kit.

20200228_141622.thumb.jpg.dfaa4a522d4fa7c6403c085a27356688.jpg

Should anyone want to claim it for purchase price, happy to set it aside for you...

Sure thing! Will add the Astro in with your other bits and bobs. Look forward to seeing how this one turns out!

Yeah, I'd thought maybe there would be some more new stuff arriving by this time, but it's indeed possible that the cold and the wind has dissuaded folk from rummaging through their garages and lofts for a while yet... fingers crossed that when the daffodils start to appear, so will the tat...

Lledo_Model_T_Ford_Van_Mr_Blobby.jpg.7755f4b691b34dd7148235f299f7877c.jpg

Graaaaah!

I'd half-thought about heading over to the Smithfield model shop to see if they still had their Matchbox Dinky Land Rover S1, but instead I ended up blowing a tenner on a load of 1990s CDs - the stuff the cool kids at school were all listening to back when I was still spinning my ABBA LPs - which I'll probably enjoy for a few months in the Subaru before moving them on via Discogs, since they're all pretty much mint.

20200228_141640.thumb.jpg.75f2970a0e98f8f292a14ba990ef0793.jpg

So there we go.

More tat market larks next week, with any luck!

And there should be a few people due to find a tat box landing in on them either today or tomorrow - with the Flat4Alfa box due for dispatch shortly, now that I've procured a suitable container to send them all...

Anyhow, I like the KAPOW! recent HW variations.  So got them and BAM!  plopped the old Husky example next to them for a POW! photo
