Shite in Miniature II

Our winged rodents are back again, not actually in the loftspace but somewhere between the felt and the tiles... it means I have to be quiet in my rummaging.

But I still got my Manta out.

Revell 1:18. I bought this in Toymaster in Chelmsford for about £15 or sommat over a decade ago. I see chancers are now trying to get over a ton for them on eBay. I remember when you could get an Actual 1:1 scale Manta for about that.

That is pretty, never seen the standard one; mine is a silver 1/18 400 but doesn't have the quad headlights.

From eBay, not really "Shite" more "Historically Worthy" but I thought smashing enough to buy a model of.

It's a Jeep.

I think this is a fabulously lifelike looking thing. Not overflowing with detail but "right" enough to be proper.

You can get them in olive drab with US Army markings too, but that's exactly what they'd expect me to want. So I'll have the red because it's less Jeep-like.

My local Poundlands (two branches) have some more of the 1/43 sports cars in, if anyone wants any.  Seem to be quite a lot of DB4s in this batch.  I only spotted two I didn't see last time: an E-Type (no point, got several) and a modern Nissan thing (modern, so again no point).  But if you want any, and they're scarce where you are, shout up, I don't mind picking up what I can for you.

I arranged a trade with one of my collector friends and picked up these German 1/24 scale cars. All are Schabak with the exception if the yellow BMW which is quite a rare Schuco. I suspect it may be an older Gama casting.

I love these old 1/24s. My pocket money could never stretch to these when they were current in the early 1990s so its grand to have them now. They are very detailed and all apertures open with a Germanic smoothness.

The same friend also gave me this 1/25 Alpine Renault for free as he knows I love old Polistils.

I also got this 1/18 BMW 6 series in a swap. Its by Kyosho and is in a dealer only colour and box. I live high end models like this but only of stuff that was contemporary with the real car.

I thought we might 'do' these now; early ones are 12 years old, ugly styling and huge impending repair bills due to a failed 'module' or somesuch capery.

Also, at least one has been banger raced.

It certainly appears to be 1/18, and I haven't got a 70s police car in that scale.  Well, until it arrives.  Maybe I should have messaged the seller to ask, lol.  Autoshite Leap Of Faith!

Bought this bad boy at a market whilst on my dinner for the princely sum of 50p. Corgi Marina Coupe. Battered as hell, thinking of restoring it and painting it a ghastly brown colour. Any advice as to how to get minor scratches from the plastic glass??

I'm told toothpaste works, though I haven't tried it... also nail varnish remover.  Good luck!

I can confirm toothpaste works well for cleaning up glazing, as does T-cut. I wouldn't risk nail varnish remover though as some types can attack plastic.

Steve Flowers Corgi spares may do replacement glazing units for that Marina

More from the summer house-a couple of caravans & the Commer camper in situ, although I still haven't got around to getting new tyres yet.

I got this at a car show...and the cellophane is NOT CRACKED like most other examples.

Ace!

I've got a boxed yellow one but the cellophane has collapsed. Still nice though. Proper Ghia wheels too.

On the left is a UT Models E36 M3 that I got cheapish from eBay due to a missing mirror.

On the right is a Maisto example that I've had for 19 years. During that time the wheels reacted with the tyres somehow and melted. So I decided to modify it by lowering the model and fitting aluminum Borbet A replica wheels. I also gutted the crap chrome headlights and rebuilt them to make them look more realistic.

My copcar still hasn't arrived.  I'm getting a bit worried now...

Posted

I've got a load of shite old models.

Mostly corgi but a few hot wheels or matchbox. Condition ranging from as new to utterly wrecked. None are boxed.

Any interest in my listing them up here at AS rates before they go on ebay in a few job lots?

It's hardly worth selling a few low cost items on ebay now what with all the costs involved.

Corgi did a massive campaign for the launch of the Sierra.

It was a big deal.

The funny thing is they didn't do a 1:36 scale MK4 or MK5 Cortina until the Vanguards range years later.

I had that Sierra unboxed, and as a 6 year old was really chuffed with the wheel design! Does it also have reclining seats?
