Mrs was clearing out a cupboard and found her kids old toy cars. Most were plastic crap but there were a few gems;

Corgi Mini is unfortunately one-eyed.

I was having a look at the Superfast/GT versions of the RS2000, they are the same casting, they just changed the base and fitted black glass - you can even see where the quarterlight should be. When I take the GT apart I'll find out how the glass is retained.

Just a quick hello to everyone in mini-shite land. I'm still here and Keeping tabs on this thread but am super busy with work and am away from home 5 days a week for the foreseeable, so scant chance of buying anything, though I've a few older purchases I'll update with, when I get the chance.

Worst of all, I'm working less than a mile away from my favourite model shop in Auckland today and tomorrow but have no time to get to it whilst it's open!

The window on the Super GT is usually held in place by a rivet. When you swap the shell over you have to carefully grind the rivet head down to fit the older type glass.

The like is for you still being around :-)

With you on the joys of working away from home.

Indeed! I'm averaging 12-13 hours a day at work also, so it's all consuming but does have the benefit of paying well, which of course helps fund miniature shite purchases down the line!

The modern versions are more accurate representations of the car but I don't think they have the character of the originals.

The Superfast casting of the Mini is possibly the weirdest looking thing ever. The roof is too long and wide, giving the passenger compartment a cuboid appearance which is quite comical, but it is just so characterful. It repesents a real 'boy racer' late 60s Mini MK2 in the 70s, with its central exhaust , shaved bumpers and flared arches.

I recall playing with a tatty example at Playgroup in the early 1980s which I was allowed to take home, just for one day though!

The mini casting dimensions might have something to do with this...

The original Casting was 1970 with registration plate AJN 391H and was updated to DHK 161N fornthe Mini Ha Ha. I gave mine to my son and he looked after it.

Anyway, I'm excited as I thought I had sold this in the Great Purge of 2013(TM) but I was having a big clearout this morning and of course got distracted looking for it. I was delighted to find it lurking right at the bottom of my oldest veg box in the loft.

I swapped it with something or another with someone who I have long since forgotten in 1989 and my mum repainted it in Mini Rose livery for me as my pocket money couldn't stretch to the current Corgi one. She did everything by hand (she was an art teacher before I was born). So glad I found it now.

Aw man, that's fantastic!

There's something particularly emotional about finding something you thought you might have lost (or otherwise disposed of).

So glad the unique Matchbox Mini Rose is still with you - that's a fantastic handpaint on such a small model.

Bburago 205 Raid? A few chips here and there but still presentable? Again a £1 plus postage?

Cant say no to a Bburago for a quid!

I’ve no idea the postage, I’ll post it if you want then let you know the cost? Probably be about £3 at a guess

Two new additions to the pile courtesy of Ramrod Industries. Cheers Eddy, I'm pleased as punch with them! (Photos definitely not* taken in a pub car park)

Yep I agree entirely - new ones are technically better but I prefer the 70s ones

Sombre Sunday. The Norev MK10 Jag I opened up in the spring did not go back together at all, it met it's maker with all the salvageable parts kept. Arsebiscuits.

Keep the good stuff coming folks!

No problem. As soon as I’ve found a suitable thing to pack it in I’ll get it posted off.

Hot wheels have done the new Alpine. Has appeal for a modern, much like the real thing.

I didn't know Hot Wheels did a Series III Land Rover so when I saw one I had to buy it, along with a couple more cars as it was 3 for the price of 2.

I also went to Tesco's this morning in search of new Matchbox, no individual cars but I did get a pack of nine which included the Merc estate, Lotus Europa and a Golf Country Syncro among others.

Any of this lot tickle ones fancy at 50p each plus postage. The Ford Cargos axle is a bit fucked but you could do something with it no doubt.

Been tinkering with the Tissier and the Westminster today.  Westminster has had all the Westminster bits removed and I'm now building up the Morris elements.  The Westminster is being turning into a replica of @320touring's Morris Oxford, a task that I thought originally would be a simple repaint until I looked at just how different the Austin and Morris variants of this car actually are.  Bonnet, grille, side trim, and even rear wings are different.  Going to be a fair amount of filing to get it where I want.
