@Spottedlaurel Could you set the Rover aside for me please if not already claimed? I'd like to make a civilian version in burgundy to match my Matchbox one (and the one owned by my parent's neighbours many years ago).

Will do, with the missing lightbar and one or two other minor issues but being basically intact it's ideal for that.

Today's acquisitions from the autojumble:

Quite a few sellers with HWs.

IMG_9307.JPG.9ec1c9b892a4a9178a708dda29e877c4.JPG

Big Rover available as a project if anyone wants to take it on? Don't remember seeing the Marzal in yellow before. Dog has escaped from the Majorette Jeep. Little blue thing is a Norev Mini Jet Trapeze Bertone, a concept car designed for NSU.

Great to get this intact Majorette box, new to me.

Even still has this leaflet with it.

That yellow Marzal came from that crappy set Matchbox did with the stick and string. I can’t remember what it was called now.
Nice haul there btw.

That’s the one.
I wonder what today’s kids would make of a toy like that😆

Finally managed to finish another kit this morning, after a busy summer:

1:24 Hasegawa Mitsubishi Galant GTO 2000GSR kit

1:24 Hasegawa Mitsubishi Galant GTO 2000GSR kit

1:24 Hasegawa Mitsubishi Galant GTO 2000GSR kit

1/24 Hasegawa kit, built as a reimagination of a 1:1 car I saw at a couple of Japanese car shows back in the '90s. It fought me in various ways, but it's now in the cabinet and I can make progress with others.

The 1:1 inspiration, firstly as seen at Aintree in 1993:

1977 Colt Galant GTO

1977 Colt Galant GTO

Then a year or two later at Billing:

1977 Colt Galant GTO

Sadly untaxed since late 1997.

I don't know what the little blue one is, but I think I want it

Edit* got too excited

Norev Mini Jet Trapeze Bertone

That's very cool. Marzal is nice too, I've got a tatty yellow one somewhere but that looks tidy

Ordered some new tyres for my Landrover off eBay (coincidentally just replaced the 25 year old ones on my 1:1 scale model).

IMG_3531.jpeg.673412c486bf0f9cb266e69ae4362ac2.jpeg

The 60 year old tyres I’d replaced had done remarkably well but weren’t going to pass another MoT

IMG_3532.jpeg.0651a93bfda3862f62105d341310f991.jpeg

Old girl looks much happier now. As you are surely aware I own more model Landrovers than I can actually remember but this is still one of my favourites mainly because of the working suspension

IMG_3537.jpeg.47a01261b624b4a2f4c8eade876aa6bd.jpeg

Speaking of which my local model shop had a sale on so I bought another one, this being a replica of Winston Churchill’s. For some reason they’d designed it with the screen bolt upright which looked (and was wrong) so I remodelled it in the ‘flies in the teeth’ configuration instead

IMG_3533.jpeg.c256310bbb5a93c1281e3bfd7bb4b3d7.jpeg

I was unable to resist buying another Corgi Classic because the same shop had this for a frankly miserly 9 quid.

IMG_3535.jpeg.e64ed6d1b47cace4e697b50c8ba1edd5.jpeg

As previously mentioned I’ve developed a recent interest in old lorries, especially the largely 2 stroke Fodens, and this S21 looks lovely in the beautiful cream, carmine and black British Railways livery. It came without the plastic model of a Corgi which I didn’t mind but with a bonus sheeted load not shown on the photo on the outside of the box.

IMG_3536.jpeg.838a24cc528d5f19fa05e30cae28405f.jpeg

I’m developing a little themed collection here.

 This week's arrivals, part 1.

First off, a delivery from @bunglebus. Many thanks!

IMG_20250907_132858.jpg.5fac19f75c7f733a4e3aa2632b381501.jpg

Containing my most sought after Hot Wheels and Matchbox so far, that I hadn't been able to source.

IMG_20250907_133443.jpg.a38c7aba9ed28c5d1a395a213762f905.jpg

Most wanted had to be this one. Much has been made of this one already, but suffice to say, it's just superb.

IMG_20250907_133451.jpg.6ed909dc640aff3c2c1952e40834e867.jpg

IMG_20250907_133506.jpg.e39384209f151abd1e539d0ac5d6f683.jpg

Already, a guy on the Professionalmania diecast site on Facebook has done one of these as a John Steed replica, complete with period style  New Avengers backing card. Wish I had those skills!

IMG_20250907_133124.jpg.34b7fee992d6522287d8a3d3cf04a0ab.jpg

Another belter of a new casting. Purple with pink interior, so very '90s...

At long last I have one of these. Thanks to Mrs_bus who apparently sourced it!

IMG_20250907_133333.jpg.26ce3621429435260c420cd349f76c39.jpg

Love the colour scheme on this, and these wheels really suit it. I like the cheeky nod to the JPS logo too!

IMG_20250907_133013.jpg.8ad1130373c9625227c09d88f1235788.jpg

Tried to get one of these from AliExpress when this case first came out. But they all sold out straight away, even when the sellers were putting them up to £7-£8 a pop.

IMG_20250907_133021.jpg.f790e704785ac1debf2ded42fbe4a6f8.jpg

Just like with the XR2, it's not the sort of thing I'd expect Matchbox to do, being a fairly common-or-garden not-really-sporty '90s euro hatch. But I love it! Right up my straße. Especially as they have made it look like the povo spec model with the grey lower bumpers and sills (despite it being badged as a ti)IMG_20250907_133051.jpg.37e8ca03bebb6973f0112845c98e7767.jpg

Out to the shops this weekend, I nipped into Tesco. As is their way, the Matchbox rummage bin had older stock dating back to the case with the Lexus convertible. But sprinkled on the top were a handful of new ones.

IMG_20250907_133551.jpg.32ded2a6752dc713b2387d3340a4c08d.jpg

A favourite casting of mine, one of the few that I always get the latest recolour of. I've often been tempted to get the Hot Wheels boulevard version, but apart from the Real Riders wheels, I don't think it offers anything much above the Matchbox version.

IMG_20250907_133601.jpg.f67eb672e27cdf87ff8502bc1c599fb2.jpg

IMG_20250907_133614.jpg.7da1d4bc6e4580718e2e6e55dc21a206.jpg

IMG_20250907_133632.jpg.ad0e29e2b5ba094dff14f9087056185b.jpg

Then I spotted a flash of orange.

No... Could it be?

IMG_20250907_133656.jpg.ccf35637247dd7b829703a00e0d4b8d5.jpg

Holy shit! I found a Super Chase!!! Okay it's not like finding a Hot Wheels STH, but, slightly bent card aside, I'm still claiming a (small) victory.

IMG_20250907_133738.jpg.189b2ff03df367bfcbeba6de24d88041.jpg

It's a lovely casting,

IMG_20250907_133720.jpg.d3ac6fc960cf0080a80ddd39568f767d.jpg

Never noticed that it was a metallic finish until I looked close, and it's the perfect subject for those wheels.

So, looking for a suitable one to make up the 3 for 2 offer,

IMG_20250907_133535.jpg.3ad248980c0db494661eab1bd5a6c362.jpg

Oh.

Still, it'll do as a spare to set free, as I fancy slightly detailing one. I think it'll look good with the rubbing strips and door handles in black.

Local Aldi has been slowly catching up on Hot Wheels. For a few weeks they have been doing the case with the Mk1 Corty but I found these yesterday, which I think are from a newer case,

IMG_20250907_133932.jpg.7ae4f7a1442767c61db34e8b4e01d616.jpg

I do like an early Firebird. even if this one is a tad over-wheeled...

IMG_20250907_134023.jpg.f43c1d9c7193767f5e76161f9ed44b16.jpg

I’ve just found this set in a drawer. Sadly without box but I’ve going down a rabbit hole trying to figure out what year it would have been released. Anyone know?

No worries, shame I forgot the Mercedes you'd requested previously. Funny enough the manager of Entertainer called me yesterday (yep) to say there are 10 new boxes of Hot Wheels awaiting my inspection, annoyingly I was busy Saturday afternoon, they're closed today and I'm supposed to be working tomorrow. Might be sending the current Miss BB to have a look on my behalf!

I have a feeling the owner or founder of the entertainer was a deeply religious man and has always refused to have his stores open on Sundays.

My haul:

1/43 Skoda and Norev Citroën 10 € for both.

1/18 Veedub bus thing. 15 €.

1/43 Escort 3.50 € ! There were two. I should have bought the other, but didn't have the free cash.

I've been eyeing that Corgi kit up  for a while, but it seems a tad overpriced for what it is.

For a tenner, maybe - but not for £30 plus p&p.

The garage in the house I grew up in was very similar (dunno if it was an actual Batley, but it was made up of pre-formed concrete panels bolted together) and even then I can't bring myself to pull the trigger on an order...

Paint on the Transit minibus is dry-ish, so…

This was the colour of my old school minibus. I did a bit of looking online to find out what it was called and if you get it anywhere.
It’s called - wait for it! Ford Transit van blue😆
Apparently one of the standard basic colours offered for ages on the Transit for most of its mk2 life.

I’m not replicating that old school bus tbh as school is a time id rather not remember much of unfortunately but there were thousands of those vans and minibuses in that colour so that’ll do.
Although thinking back, that old Transit was probably one of my few positive memories of school!
