Here's a couple of the earliest Corgi Minis with the disc type wheels.

Blue is the Morris version and Red is the Austin version

2011_03110001.JPG.f733fdc9116b9761fc56ca31e61ccb1d.JPG

They have different bonnet badges.

2011_03110002.JPG.353b1ae8846abe7b75c5cb2f3e7b547a.JPG

Also the bases have Morris Mini-Minor or Austin Seven cast into them. You can spot it just just were the cars touch the paper.

A couple of my boxed ones with an early Red Austin on the right. The left red and the blue have the sculpted wheels, which can also be seen on the wicker work car. The Metallic red has the vane type wheels, also seen on the rally car.

Base has no name, but it is obviously a Morestone/Budgie. A quick bit of research and it is an early Morestone version. Supposedly rare to find in mint condition, thus people are asking a fiver for knackered ones on Ebay.

Next is teh green Mercedes that a few have asked about.

DSCF7026.JPG.c71041b146bb58d512baca32cdf3fab0.JPG

Even after a wash it s still grubby, and comparing it with the Polistil Land Rover, I think it is 1/25th scale

DSCF7027.JPG.c4324ba453ba98425c029123b6225de8.JPG

Only an R number on the bottom for identification. Also friction drive is loose and seized.

Finally we have this super piece of Italian toy making

DSCF7029.JPG.02d10811f98410042a5263fdb64139bd.JPG

It's amazing how the stickers have lasted seeing as it is not boxed.

There's barely a chip in the paint.

The only real faults are the missing spot lamp on the roof and the missing piece of front bumper.

Paid too much for the Focus (don't even like them, obviously caught in the moment) but pleased with the other two. Annoyingly the older Hot Wheels were mixed in with a lot of much newer ones.

@MiniMinorMk3 that's Bobby Crocker in the back of Kojak's Buick.  Stavros was significantly tubbier (and was played by Telly Savalas's brother George).  Great haul though, well bought!

Toy fair at Worthing today was massive and crowded as I've ever seen one despite lovely weather and boot fairs being on the go.

First buys were from my usual Spot On seller

This unusual VW Variant Spot On Copy

Has opening boot and bonnet (which ever way around they are} but I've not psyched myself up to open them yet!

i do believe the polo with sticker grille is not cost cutting as it was released 1st like that then gaining a cast face after

i wonder if there was a notion to do an aldi 50 version like polistil did with the 1/25 model

So which Spot On toy car would you choose?

I had to watch American Graffiti again as I didn't really remember that bit. It's so much better than I remembered it being.

I bunked off school to see it in Bromley Odeon with my best friend, when we told our English teacher the next day he said we should have seen The Exorcist that was on at the same time.

I think we made the right choice!

To be honest I’m not fully clued up on them but I’d probably say some type of saloon such as the Zephyr?

@MiniMinorMk3 that's Bobby Crocker in the back of Kojak's Buick.  Stavros was significantly tubbier (and was played by Telly Savalas's brother George).  Great haul though, well bought!

It must be almost 50 years since I watched Kojak and Stavros was the only other character that I could remember.

Excellent find. The last time I picked up one of those I took it straight to Vectis for them to sell.

the Hong Kong Dinky is not actually a Spot On but...

Dinky Toys, made in Hong Kong by Hong Kong Industrial (HKI) – The Industrial History of Hong Kong Group

Quote

However given the importance of the toy industry in Hong Kong between the 1960′s and 1980s it is not surprising that Dinkys were also made here. And indeed between 1965 and 1967 six model cars were produced for Dinky Toys in Hong Kong for the lucrative U.S. market. Originally intended to be produced by Spot-On, but re-branded as Dinky Toys when the Spot-On parent company (Tri-ang) bought Meccano Ltd, they were built to the usual Spot-On scale of 1:42. All six cars were American vehicles (2):

57-001 Buick Riviera
57-002 Chevrolet Corvair Monza
57-003 Chevrolet Impala
57-004 Oldsmobile 88 *
57-005 Ford Thunderbird
57-006 Rambler Classic

* Steve posted this comment: Regarding the six original Hong Kong Dinky Toys, Dinky advertising literature listed 57-004 as a Dodge Polara Convertible. This model was apparently never released although it was illustrated in the catalog. At some point the 57-004 product number debuted as the Oldsmobile 88 instead.

Your rear bumper is missing the little corner bars.
