That’s a later one from when Irwin took them over. There’s distinct differences between those ones and the older ones. The colour is a bit less sudden on the older ones. I’ve got one as above like you have in my lock up, a Record 3 and a Record Fitters Vice.

Yes you may be right it does look a bit dark. I do have a late proper Record that's in a not quite as dark colour to that . Record colours do vary though.

I know where they are, but can’t get to them at the moment. I’ll try to get a pic this afternoon.

Scratch that! Just been in the garage and they aren’t where I thought they were. Which means I can’t remember!😄

When I find them after I’ve finished the shed I’ll post them up.

Here's my bit of adVICE. Ideal  for holding  little bits of stuff that nee filing down or painting or polishing.

It's not much bigger than a Dinky TR7, that needs finishing.

It was the cheapest one I could nab locally and looked like it'd already seen enough use it was unlikely to explode! A lot of the brand new ones seem to crack nearly instantly.

It's a No1 and still says "Made in England" on it but isn't a proper oldie. I think the most obvious difference is the mounting bolt holes vs cutouts.

It’ll probably, for a 3/4 inch vice be ok, it’s not like a fitters vice where you’ll be holding struts in it or getting into heavy metalwork.

Bought a few bobs and bits off eBay and Vinted, starting with a little job lot. Had this quite nice Budgie horsebox within

Dibs on the Marklin VW if you ever decide to move it on.  Same with ECTO1.

The VW would go nice with my ADAC Merc flatbed.

Here’s a bunch of stuff I bought a couple of months ago. Both Citroens were absolute bargains. I was the only bidder on the Xantia and got it really cheap. Transit and blue T4 is from Schabak.

It's a real shame they're an odd scale (1/90-something I think) and not 1/76 to go with the Atlantean.

Wonder how long it’s been there? Back when they were new they were ‘collectors pieces’ so they’d be unlikely to be rallied around in the mud. It’s odd how they seem to get in the strangest places, a house up our road was having soil took out to put a driveway in. In amongst it was a sixties Matchbox Ergomatic tanker, it was knackered but recognisable. Myself on one of my old allotments I found the back end of a Corgi Marcos Mantis and a King Size bulldozer, again on a semi rural plot of land. Maybe some kids were playing there in the seventies and they just got trod into the soil. Who knows? The Bulldozer lives on in my lock up on a window sill, I can’t bring myself to bin it.

That's a 1980s Chinese copy of a 1960s Japanese Ashia ATC tin plate. The give away is the rear number plate. The Japanese version had a Wolfsberg WOB plate, the Chinese one is MF 743, the item number of the model. I remember them being sold in that there London in the late 1980s. There are still a few listed on Ebay in Australia.
