Sunday morning breakfast time fantasy spend up time! A few weeks back I visited Retromobile in Paris (like the NEC but cheaper to get in, and French/German confused old differs roaming the halls in zipped up coats, you get the idea) and in the automobila section were some delights. Expensive delights, but worth a breakfast lusting over 😁

Everyones favourite part work retailer was there, but I’m 99% convinced was charging more than their website - I dread to think what Parisian floor rental is for the show. The stock also seemed normal and not the random unloved stuff we fight over. But still there must have been a large wagon load worth piled up! Some stands were crazy priced (see below):

IMG_5277.thumb.jpeg.1ec5a1fc4b4af002b59a050ced9f0c34.jpeg

Some were not! The €30 bronze Daf in the middle is still a point of regret…

You could have tin plate Chinooks…

Or plastic FSO’s….

Oriental Matchboxes….

Or the other pang of regret - these Tata Indicas 😳

However there really was some delicate continental diecast on offer at take a breath prices mostly. So moisten your saliva glands drooling over this lot! In no particular order…

Apologies for the terrifying French tat lover above 😆 These ‘Luso toys’ looked very Gama, especially that Rekord. Good value for Retromobile mind.

Amongst the Majorettes - Bernard snowplough is new to me - was what seemed a slightky longer Husky Jeep in a ‘Mobil miniatures’ box. Any clues chaps?

Now for something that has escaped my attention:

Sorry for the scrappy pictures, there really was quite a scrum round these - credit cards were merrily going across to card readers too! Knee shot for size reference - this 205 GTI is 1/8th scale 😳

Absolutely fabulous and quite a range it seems, whom knows what the display case would cost you! The 911 was lovely but the Amazon would be my pick for sure 👍

So what your basically saying is, Action man could actually drive this?

They are stunning bits. I was amazed when i was a kid by a 1:8 Ferrari F40, but back then that was about a million quid..

When the Dakar model was posted a couple of weeks ago I found those and forgot to post them up. I guess they come from the same factory and build the same way. The Volvo appeared to be cheaper than the Peugeot and the Porsche. The best price for the Volvo I have found in the UK is £719.

IXO 1/8th Scale Metal Kits – Malcs Models

On the IXO site there are some of teh assembly instructions that show the level of detail and the engineering of the construction. Click on the assembly guides tab near the top of teh page and choose which model you want to view. There are also more on the list than when I looked a couple of weeks ago.

Also they look a bit more of a kit than the 1/8th Monogram Corvette I built when I was 13. Due to size I originally built it unpainted because I thought I'd never be able to do the body without getting brush marks in it. After a year or so I had become quite good at putting on brush paint without getting brush marks, so I dismantled it and painted it. The model was purged from my collection when we moved house and I have never built or displayed anything as large since.

Some absolutely stunning stuff there @andrew e

I could spend a fortune just at Jumajo’s stall alone!😆 I think by now they must know me well!

That 205 and Amazon in the big scales are absolute works of art though. And clearly they were selling too if there were cards being handed over. You just never see things like that in this country. Maybe it’s because it’s so expensive over here just to live nobody has that sort of cash for hobbies? I’ve said it many many times but we’ve got things very very wrong in this country.

Cheers for the info gents 👍 I’m halfway through my second Tamiya 1/14 truck (this one’s an 8 leg beaver tail) so I’m not adverse to a big model (my wallet is hence the half way!) but I can drive those after building.

Here's some German French Dinkys.

DSCF6514.thumb.JPG.422f069762b9df70a4acb0c543ad7d72.JPG

First is teh Karman Ghia, which looks the same as the British version. This has glass but no interior.

DSCF6515.thumb.JPG.ee2711f4c77a1a0bf4c55caa9446fcf6.JPG

There are some slight differences, one is the small badge casting on the nose.

DSCF6516.thumb.JPG.f11d1224489dc5bc3fab3a89f706243d.JPG

Also the rear plate is black on the French version and obviously the wheels are not the same. I like this colour scheme better than the green/white version.

DSCF6517.thumb.JPG.315a53e2b376fc6e8d629829a4b453c0.JPG

Next is an Opel Kaptain.

DSCF6518.thumb.JPG.815b71f39a807e5ba636463aca38a9b1.JPG

Red details on rear.

DSCF6519.thumb.JPG.4a02459c6834f151ac59cd1c4d22fd66.JPG

Glass and seats.

DSCF6520.thumb.JPG.a195c2f5ee619a697d62b2ab1e911327.JPG

Next is a Taunus 17M Police car.

DSCF6521.thumb.JPG.acf57d58cce69a812c56e14cc664b205.JPG

All the features are listed in German on the box.

DSCF6522.thumb.JPG.13c533714e74489dec16c7c5ee99842d.JPG

Fairly good detail

DSCF6523.thumb.JPG.d02b9e6c343a36144b6ffb50627e6682.JPG

The white wings and Polizei are tampo prints, unlike an original which would have had mask painted wings and decals for Polizei.

DSCF6524.thumb.JPG.8cc0e2a55a7996a1cb5f56b531272d1c.JPG

An original

French-Dinky-Toys-551-Taunus-Polizei-GG5

Also the base states the scale at 1/43...

DSCF6529.thumb.JPG.7729524f5faa56cd86a1dc4f8213e2d6.JPG

and the other end has Bth SGDG embossed in it.

DSCF6530.thumb.JPG.5a7b24ad5f318041c49e5e91fd382cf1.JPG

Next is teh BMW 1500 with great artwork on the box.

DSCF6525.thumb.JPG.19324caa86a52a925f7ac9c8985f21e7.JPG

The shape is captured very well...

DSCF6526.thumb.JPG.e1a66cda2417a70fb2520e662727d936.JPG

but unlike the British Neu-Klasse BMW 2000, it does not have flashing indictors.

DSCF6527.thumb.JPG.7ef0ff797e476ea7a3eb0ee86c127a73.JPG

Again the scale is stated as 1/43 and it has the same Bth SGDG mark.

DSCF6528.thumb.JPG.d1122bedb1df8df522be96b8aae0332e.JPG

Finally we have a pair of Italian French Dinkys.

DSCF6531.thumb.JPG.6191ba822b32c2bb54e005cc25913374.JPG

Nice Fiat 1200 avec glaces.

DSCF6532.thumb.JPG.04e74442f42293717848a277e901328b.JPG

The metallic blue roof has a matte finish.

DSCF6533.thumb.JPG.3df2ddc05825773577839e892c92ae7e.JPG

A nice model of a 600D, make a change from the 500 that is always modelled these days. Great artwork on the box again.

DSCF6534.thumb.JPG.c95ddb7015c0d57fb143abc17d521ae5.JPG

DSCF6536.thumb.JPG.8859ce45f90cbb1986dcb2d45706e6b1.JPG

Scale is 1/43.

Lovely!  I bet those were dear...   as they are battery-powered too

The bottom one is of a Boeing-Vertol 107, made in Japan by Daiya.  Well that is what the box depicts that it was intended to be!  The service across NY was quite popular, taking passengers to and from the roof of the Pan Am skyscraper

The top one was made in W. Germany by Blomer & Schüler and tried I think to model the Piasecki H-21 Workhorse, aka Shawnee

Ahh.  well....  not got a Indica/CityRover but back here is a 50p in charity shop TATA NANO also by Centy Toys.  Centy Toys are an Indian brand and a scarce find, not stocked by Toy Shops and more likely found in back street piled-high bargain independents and your local seafront shops next to the candy floss

IMG_0176.JPG.15700761c1261424ff069fd4b64f3c48.JPG

All-plastic and measures to 1/24 scale.

IMG_0177.JPG.ee9275a8f428b3d970333548355bd87d.JPG

The Nano was in production 2008-2018 and the cheapest car ever by breaking the price point of 1 Lakh (£1700).   Trouble was, because of the the increased wealth across India, many didn't want to be associated with 'cheapness' and kept their ornate Tuk-Tuks going instead.

Check out the parcel shelf.  Probably not the bASe level trim this one then.

Either way, Ken likes it because it matches his trousers.

You’re not wrong!
I've been out in the garage this morning trying to get the remnants of red of that Triang truck. Then decided to try getting my IXO AEC bus and Granada estate etch primed. My god it was freezing out there!

Too cold for painting really. The primer didn’t go on great and took ages to dry. I think it’ll be ok but I’m going to leave it another month or so I think for paint.

I might have to find a repop to go with those now. What's the difference on the nose badge?

I've been outside doing some bits on my 1:1 scale car, very cold but dry - hairdryer on the bodyshell, aerosol run under the hot tap and straight back inside for a good blast of the hairdryer to cure the paint, it'll be fine 🙂

If we all paid less tax on incomes, and less tax on all the crap we have to buy just to live it’d leave everyone more spare each month to actually enjoy the one life we get. Then the system would benefit from more people spending money. At the moment it’s the other way around.

We’d probably get more partwork’s etc etc if people in the UK had any spare money to spend on hobbies. As it is the millionaires have got it off and don’t care but everyone else has to choose between putting the heating on or eating.

But that’s all probably for another thread😆

I supplied the white walls and the tax disc.

The difference is the size of the badge. It is smaller on the French casting.

Not trying to turn this into the politics thread but I don't think it is the taxes we all pay, it is the cost of a place to live that gobbles up most peoples income.

Did quite a few miles last week, visited various shops and had just these to show for it:

IMG_5174.thumb.JPG.99531dfc70a1d9a3be3e896492747bd4.JPG

Infiniti seems to be a recolour of a casting that first came out last year, not sure if I have that one. The other two were a fiver each from a Starlings toy shop, also got a Lamborghini from the same series for Master SL but sadly there was no sign of the Nissan 240SX. Likewise the Skyline R30 that came in another Premiums set of which they had a few (there was a fantasy Advan van amongst them).

Posted

Did a buy today at a swap meet. A lot of overpriced shit but scored this for £3.50. A bargain I think?
