They all look in lovely condition, that a great collection. Probably worth quite a lot too if eBay job lot prices are anything to go by

Another bunch of carded vehicles out of that job lot, and again trying to just stick to the more unusual ones

Very pleased to find two different Ruff Rabbits still in their original packaging

28 series, produced 1989-99, stocks remained available well into 2000s

The First 6 were ‘World Class’ Series

Then became ‘Premier’ World Class Series

Probable successor would be ‘Moving Parts’ series, launched 2020

Going back to the topic of Matchbox registrations, and doing a bit of research (looking on Google), I think the first car with a registration is the Zephyr in 1963 with 521 AYF

Screenshot_20241126-083756.thumb.png.65c4ad30862389463f32a4d845842297.png

I haven't looked through busses, lorries etc so there might be an earlier road vehicle, as that Muir Hill dumper doesn't count in my eyes

Yes it's! The chap who gave me them had a massive collection of all sorts. Don't know were the rest of his collection went I fear in the skip. :cry:

He used to tell me about his 30s Packards he used to drive about in the 60s. Driving from scrap yard to scrap yard picking parts up to keep them going.

A few pages back is the Triumph Combination which is supposed to be the first to have a plate.

Yes, I was trying to work out the first car to have one, I don't think the Muir Hill Dumper really counts. There might be a bus or lorry with a plate too, didn't feel like looking through them all too!

Whilst waiting for a rusty Micra to fail it's MoT, I popped into a few charity shops, mainly to keep warm and spend a bit of time until the library opened.

I found these in one of the shops who usually have a small whicker basket full of cars;

No buyages was made because of very tight finances (again!) But I nearly did buy this;

Most people would know this as a Majorette Mk5 Escort. They are usually a diecast body with metal bumpers attached to an underbody, much like this:

s-l1200(15).thumb.webp.0ceafd0e4ac4acf50913a955817bbd22.webp

s-l1200(17).thumb.webp.cd8070140567daf7987a1724070bcb10.webp

Except, the one I found isn't. It an all over plastic body including the bumpers (body and bumpers are all one plastic cast) the underside is metal but only stamped with 'Majorette' there is no other details, so I wonder what all that is about.

Just for its unusualness, I might go back and get it...

Spent several hours going through a box of loose VWs out of the job lot this afternoon. Almost all are mint, although not many are especially rare so I won't bore you posting them all.

This Matchbox Golf is quite a standout though, gold 8 dot wheels seem unusual?

At least they cast in a centre windscreen pillar I suppose, the old one being part of the glazing was a slight annoyance. Some of the versions I've unearthed are pretty strange, decals covering the windows isn't something I recall seeing before

Pretty sure I had one of those Matchbox Golf’s in red with gold wheels when I was little. Definitely don’t have it anymore though. It would have been in the big box of my old toys that went to my cousins kids.

Probably in a landfill by now I expect.

Been a little while since I've had any acquisitions to report. Been trying to stay away from toy fairs and there has been very little in the supermarkets.

But, today a trip to the dentist gave me a chance to pop into the collectible diecasts/toys/games shop which I am surprised manages to keep going in a local town centre. it was worthwhile....

Tomica Premiums at £10-12 each plus loose odds and ends out of the various 50p/£1/£2 trays and displays. The Matchbox 300ZX is one that has the jazzy paintwork and wheel centres.

Compare and contrast Celsior/LS400 duo. Wheels on the Tomica are not only correct for the early version but they are also handed as per the 1:1. Bought another one as a gift.

Majorette and Tomica ambulances, 50p and £1 respectively. Both new to me, and pleasing to see the DS still has its front corner markers and opening tailgate.

Mercifully there was no unplanned work needed at the dentist.....
