Jim Clark?

I reckon the Vespa will be about the same scale as 1/24.

More from the 4 for £1 box at a local charity shop (the place where I got loads of good stuff recently).

IMG_4215.JPG.3314537baac71a1b0304e0229634276c.JPG

Corgi SD1 minus tailgate glass, Matchbox trailer as discussed here a day or two ago and a pair of Majorettes. Probably could have found another 4, but I already have piles of stuff needing to be homed. For that reason I bought a couple of plastic boxes at PoundStretcher.

I'm planning to forego a couple of local toy fairs on Sunday and see if I can sell some kits, duplicate HW/MBX and magazines/brochures on a stand at the East Coast Retros 1:1 meet on Saturday.

I’m hoping to find one of those 90’s GMC Cyclone’s. Does anyone know if Hot Wheels have done any more 90’s cars in that range?

Never seen one of them before but I’ll keep an eye out for that.

I've had a couple of the Astramax vans. There are actually Opel Kadett Combos, and looking at the "number plate", my guess is they were produced in 1991.

They must have the weakest screen pillars of any diecast model. The amount of them you see with them cracked or broken off!

Nice work though👍

When ever I see those I always think of Graham Hill. It's probably because I had one in this shade with the Graham Hill figure. No idea what happened to it of Graham.

I didn't realise they came in that colour!

I just used a tin of GM Apache I had left lying around.

That's brilliant. Shame they didn't do a UK version with rust streaked white paintwork, stoved in rear doors and partially collapsed rear springs.

Legend has it* that the kicked up rear roofline caused some sort of weird aerodynamic effect allowing the 1.7 D motor to propel it up to speeds in excess of 140mph, whilst two up with half a tonne of plumbing equipment behind the front seats.

OMG guys have you heard? New Pilen just dropped!!

Not much to say really, these Dinky castings really were much more basic than Pilen's own efforts. I don't really understand the disparity in value between the Dinky-branded cars and the Pilen ones, considering they were made at the same time, in the same factory, by the same people. This was £20, although that does seem quite cheap looking at other ones on ebay.

Apparently, there’s a rare pale yellowish beigeish colour of that Corgi Cortina, which can be had in both right and left hand drive. I’m yet to actually see or find one in the metal though.

Ive only got the one bronze one, unboxed and no figure but in pretty nice condition still.

The maize yellow was a dealer promo given to buyers of a real one  at the launch. As corgi were given access the real car during development.

Both went on sale at the same time.

The police one is said to be based on lancs police livery.

There are 3 versions of the police car,

First has rostyles & boomerang steering wheel.

Second rostyles & a square centre with boomerang ,

Third has teledial wheels with 3 spoke steering wheel.

All polices cars have a red interior. The brown & green ones have white interior.

I've got a Cortina in that colour but it's the one from Century of Cars and the late 1990s with the doors welded shut!

Don't remember a brown Defender?

PXL_20241003_165724671.jpg

Yeah, I think it was in one of the late 2023 mixes - I picked one up, but I didn't open it since I wasn't that fussed with the way the roof is part of the glazing unit, and with clear plastic all the rivet pillars and things were visible.

I think I swapped it with Colin in the market for some other stuff.

At the minute I've a Defender in pale blue (2022 mainline?), one in pale green ('British Roads' 5-pack) and one in matt black (another 2023 mainline?) - they all have darker tinted glazing, so the roof looks less odd.

Back row L-R: yellow Corgi Motoring Memories; bronze Century of Cars which is obviously the same casting; and Graham Hill with his(/my) original bronze GXL.

In front is the Vanguards four-door, Life on Mars edition.

I suppose, but I’m not convinced any of that represents good value! But it’s other people’s money and choice I guess.

On the other hand I’m not a so called ‘collector’ so I don’t really know true values of things. To me I think I’d rather spend a few quid on a rough but savable one and do my own thing with it.
